This was just far far ahead of it's time, so fucking good. I'm so crushed we never saw hardcore Ji-yoon again after Crazy and Hate. I was so desperate for more of this side of Ji-yoon!!! While people in the West (new and old) could connect with this song and rocked hard with it, Koreans just didn't get it. It wasn't something understandable/digestible in the East and in 2016 K-pop was still very Korea-centric. Like they cared about international audiences in 2016, but big groups not doing well in Korea even though it was a huge bop internationally, was still a bad mark for a kpop act and ultimately was 4Minute's death sentence. It's really unfair, I'm glad in 2022 it's a little different, international success matters more if it's enough to cover up a mediocre performance at home. This song was so freaking good, it was just ahead of it's time....4minute deserved more!!

When time pass away, old groups that are out of the three big companies its very hard to keep the move. 4minute sadly Cube is one of the worst companies to deal. They only wanted money and thats why 4minute disbanded. The CEO of that time didn't see the sales as well as Crazy era so the CEO with 51% of the company put the disbandment ando they only kept Hyuna because she at least for herself could sell 10k albums (like Roll Deep era)

4Minute were so ahead of their time and they always had one strong comeback after the other. truly sad that this was the last one they had together as a group, but they truly served up until the end.
This song is getting recognition these days cause it's more common and normal for girls to do concepts similar to this. Looking back at what was popular when this was released shows that 4Minute was ahead of their time and definitely influenced the insurgence of darker concepts in girl groups late 3rd gen and 4th gen. Everyone still appreciates a good cute/happy/girlfriend concept, but I think the public has really grown to appreciate a good cool/dark/badass concept in girl groups as well.
They are not ahead. They are just in a sht company that never prioritizes their artists over money. if they are in YG this song will be for sure off the charts. Just look at Gidle they are again going down fast even though they have the best rapper in this generation of groups.

I honestly literally still can't believe the fact that they disbanded. Maybe especially because I am currently living in Korea right now, but I really learned that Korea doesn't really like concepts like this. To prove this again, when CLC released "Hobgoblin", a lot of people said that they should have just kept their original concept (cute, happy, etc.). Obviousy, the chorus is what has people torn. You either dislike/"hate" it or love it. I'm not a fan of EDM, though I don't mind the influence in some songs. I agree with most people that dislike this song for the same reason that the chorus doesn't fit well with song. At least parts of it because it is "loud" in the sense that it really drowns out the entirety. I think the song should have been separated because the beginning is so beautiful on its own with Gayoon's vocals and Hyuna's rap, it's edgy and the chorus is actually good on its own. Prior knowledge knowing Skrillex would have a part in producing, it isn't surprising but I think the beginning has everyone forget that so when the chorus comes in, it's a surprise if you don't even know who he is. I think the song just needs to sink in before people actually know how they really feel about it. It's a great song, but I am on the end of that spectrum that wishes they'd gone with the feel in the beginning.
For me its like the big bang's- bang bang bang it builds up really really good and you expect a good payoff but the payoff in both songs ends up being awkward to me

4Minute debut in 2009 and they disbanded in 2016, only 7 years but their presence felt longer than that. I still don't know why they disbanded too soon. They were releasing hits and hits sicne debut, they are one of the original Kpop groups. They did do well with Crazy, that video had almost 80 million views in les than 2 years. Hate also did pretty well. I heard they get a lot of views but they don't get a lot of album sales. :/ But even so I hoped if they lasted a little bit longer at least.. :( I like their labelmate CLC and I hold nothing against them but I think it's sad how their company see a promising future for them but not to 4Minute. 4Minute were well-known in Korea, Japan, and internationally. I don't know why the company lost hope in them. Kpop won't be the same without 4Minute :(

+Doug guoD Asian music industry is a lot more competitive and tougher,being a different culture and lifestyle and all. every block you'll see a promotion of some idol. when 4Minute's "crazy" came out they had a lot of promotions, hell a lot of coffee shops had their image on normal coffee cups. Also having a member like Hyuna that's had a history in the music industry (being an original member of Wonder Girls in JYP ent.) they're actually really popular than most international fans see. Maybe not as popular as other big acts like SNSD or 2NE1 but they're up there.

They only wanted money and thats why 4minute disbanded. This song is getting recognition these days cause it's more common and normal for girls to do concepts similar to this. Looking back at what was popular when this was released shows that 4Minute was ahead of their time and definitely influenced the insurgence of darker concepts in girl groups late 3rd gen and 4th gen. Everyone still appreciates a good cute/happy/girlfriend concept, but I think the public has really grown to appreciate a good cool/dark/badass concept in girl groups as well.

I honestly literally still can't believe the fact that they disbanded. Maybe especially because I am currently living in Korea right now, but I really learned that Korea doesn't really like concepts like this. To prove this again, when CLC released "Hobgoblin", a lot of people said that they should have just kept their original concept (cute, happy, etc.). I am not trying to say anything bad, I am just trying to say I have no idea why the heck people didn't like this. I am not lying, as a 4nia, I am still crying on the inside.

Obviousy, the chorus is what has people torn. You either dislike/"hate" it or love it. I'm not a fan of EDM, though I don't mind the influence in some songs. I agree with most people that dislike this song for the same reason that the chorus doesn't fit well with song. At least parts of it because it is "loud" in the sense that it really drowns out the entirety.
I think the song should have been separated because the beginning is so beautiful on its own with Gayoon's vocals and Hyuna's rap, it's edgy and the chorus is actually good on its own.
Prior knowledge knowing Skrillex would have a part in producing, it isn't surprising but I think the beginning has everyone forget that so when the chorus comes in, it's a surprise if you don't even know who he is. I think the song just needs to sink in before people actually know how they really feel about it. It's a great song, but I am on the end of that spectrum that wishes they'd gone with the feel in the beginning.
For me its like the big bang's- bang bang bang it builds up really really good and you expect a good payoff but the payoff in both songs ends up being awkward to me

4Minute debut in 2009 and they disbanded in 2016, only 7 years but their presence felt longer than that.
I still don't know why they disbanded too soon. They were releasing hits and hits sicne debut, they are one of the original Kpop groups.
They did do well with Crazy, that video had almost 80 million views in les than 2 years. Hate also did pretty well. I heard they get a lot of views but they don't get a lot of album sales. :/
But even so I hoped if they lasted a little bit longer at least.. :(

Also having a member like Hyuna that's had a history in the music industry (being an original member of Wonder Girls in JYP ent.) they're actually really popular than most international fans see. Maybe not as popular as other big acts like SNSD or 2NE1 but they're up there.

It was Jiyoon and HyunA who really stood out in both the "Crazy" and "Hate" tracks. For first time, I'm not only seeing Hyuna because Jiyoon fit very well in these concepts. She'll be competing with the new generation of girl group idols who are younger and fresher, so I hope Cube will take care of HyunA more now than ever so we could see more sides of her.
