The Viewer As a person who loves Kpop since 2nd gen and loves many newer Kpop groups, I disagree. Especially the “cheap copy of American pop” part is exaggerated to me imo. Kpop still has its uniqueness of talent, choreography, vocals, and rap that makes American pop look bland in comparison. Even the sound in Kpop music still sounds way better than American music today.
Also idk about the Kpop being “Americanized” part considering that Kpop has always been influenced by American music since the start. Western producers/songwriters have always helped in making songs for Kpop bc they find that the Kpop industry allows for more creativity than the Western one.
As for those type of “Kpop fans” that only like some groups bc their English is better or some stupid reason, they aren’t real Kpop fans (and a minority bc I barely run into them at all in my experience). It’s unfortunate they exist, but they really are a minority in comparison to Kpop fans that love Kpop bc of the talent and amazing music in it.
I do understand your viewpoint since I used to view it that way a few years ago tho. But I say that you should also give newer Kpop artists a chance as well and have an open mind ^^ (Sidenote: I also love how Kpop nowadays have members participating more in song writing and choreography. And as much as I love 2nd gen, rapping and choreography in Kpop has improved so much since then)

This was 4Minute's peak. They need to go back to this style! Everything they released from 2009 up to 2012 was amazing, (Hot Issue, Mirror Mirror, Huh, etc. and obviously Volume Up) but after this, I haven't been able to get into a 4minute song the same way.

Yeah, 2nd gen was kpop's golden age honestly. Now it's very uninspired.
Also they could pull off perfectly this kind of songs which requires a huge talent, huge power. It's really not given to anyone to make a song in this style, so powerful with club dance elements, powerful vocals and make a masterpiece that sounds just right.
