Kevin, I about to put this exact kit on my 21 Rubican. Even though I'm extremely proficient with turning wrenches, I'm very reluctant to do suspension of any kind. I found this video and I'm very confident now going forward. I appreciate your video.
@@kgeorgeson Wanted to give you an update, finished the lift. I referenced this video about 10-15 times and compared it to the paper instructions from MC. Successfully installed and done. *hive-five* to ya'll, and appreciate the video.
One thing I learned is that unlike all previous generations, the JL lift kits are measured as lift over the rubicon ride height which is taller than a sport/Sahara. So a 2.5 on a sport is more like 4” because a rubicon sits 1.5” higher.
nice video. How did you manage to get the brake line brackets (the brackets connected the brake line) loose? I am in the middle of my 3.5 metal cloak, and this is driving crazy. Thanks for the info.
I used a Dremel cutoff wheel to cut a groove, very carefully not to touch the brake line, along the backside which made it easier to pry it off. that was the only way I was able to do it. thanks for watching!
Hi Cindy, great video quality! I am a little confused at how you ended up 2-1/16" net height gain from a 2.5" lift. With all the mod weight, the lift resulted in a 5-1/16" height gain. I'm trying to imagine what that lift would do to an un-moded JLUR. What @ingold84 said initially made sense, but you lifted a Rubicon, not a Sport/Sahara. I have lost about 2" in the rear (relative to the front) from the permanent mods on my JLUR,. I"ve been trying to figure out how to use different Metalcloak Dual Rate springs to achieve a level 2.5" actual lift. So far Metalcloak has recommended using the 2.5" spring in the front and 4.5" spring in the back; theoretically using the spring differential to level & lift the rear. But after seeing your results, I am a bit befuddled.
Thanks! My Jeep is a Sport and because of all the weight from the build, it had dropped about 3inches in the rear. So when we added the 2.5” lift it brought my Jeep up about 5” because the MetalCloak springs are much stiffer than the stock springs and able to handle the weight better.
