Posting this just to get ahead of the dummies who are already trying to blow me up on twitter. Lily still remains one of the lesser characters in the game even though Chakotay won at Combo Breaker. People already disrespecting him and the effort he's put into the character on day 1 saying lily is now somehow magically top tier with her miniscule buffs. Great players can win with not great characters(and chakotay remains one of NA's strongest). He's been on the character since the start and never wavered. Don't waste my time when 99% of yall who are gonna raise your voice don't even appreciate or fully understand the character lol. Big ups to Chakotay for the win, well earned.
Well put. He didn’t just pick up the character post-patch, he’s been grinding her for a hot minute. It’s funny to point out the irony of her being a “patch loser” before winning a major, but all things considered you weren’t wrong at all in how you worded things, she isn’t a magic top tier now and people need to respect Chakotay’s crazy W.
@TheTangaMandapium I suppose he can be annoying, but I think most characters can be. Losing isn't fun. He's not a broken character by any means, I'll be excited to see how his results shake out this year.
Eh. In Juri's case, the power scaling is doing the nerfing for Capcom. Juri has a harder time dealing with Zoners, and the changes in the system mechanics is putting more in the Zoners' favor. Not trying to downplay her by saying she's going to be bad or anything. She's still very much a solid character. It's just that Juri has to work even harder around Zoners in Season 2.
Well here's the thing we usually do after a big patch over the years so uh, lets do the thing! Frankly most characters are "winners" in the traditional sense, although some much more than others. Some people like Ryu are getting the rocket strapped to them cause Capcom is sorta forcing the issue lol. Others? Just cause you got buffed doesn't mean your situation is actually any better even if you might deal a few more points of damage here and there. Well its all in the video anyways so give a watch, like if ya liked it, and let me know what you think about it, and your own thoughts as well!
Since Dhalsim didn't get anything, just like he didn't get anything in SFV Season 4 and 5, Capcom Japan thinks it's ok for Akuma to be broken, but Dhalsim can't even get any damage increase to some of his Normals, less Startup & Recovery, and decrease on some important Hurtboxes that other characters aren't dealing with 🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤬
@@rooflemonger I main him and I wouldn't do his new combo that takes 2 DR cancels into Lvl3/CA unless my opponent's health is near 35% left. I saw what Mr. Crimson showed with the Cr. Normally, Dhalsim will get the necessary stuff that he really needs until the end of Season 2 like he did at the end of SFV Season 2 balance patch. We shall see 🤷🏾♂️🙏🏾

Gief ain't top tier or anything but he's way more fun. Most of his buffs were addressing his godawful meter efficiency, so we actually get to play the game now.
Honestly, I don’t really feel like too much of a loser as JP. He’s worse on paper, but the buffs matter, especially OD Stribog, he LOVES the Parry nerf, most of his new Scaling is on stuff that combos into or out of OD Stribog and since he can combo into Embrace now. He’ll hopefully be whiff punishing more with everyone’s extended Hurtboxes as well. As for the Supers, the Monkey’s Paw had to curl somewhere to get Rashid and Marisa similarly stripped of Checkmates too and Cammy, Chun, & Dee Jay getting stabbed My tune may change, but I’m not too scared of anyone
DeeJay definitely lost, but it's wild how he still looks to be doing high damage and have almost universally great buttons. It'll be interesting to see how much it really effected him. Kinda like Lily from the other end. Could be better than it seems, but she started pretty far in the hole!
@@Jarrych83 Yep! Can’t take these things in a vacuum, since it all has to be viewed within the context of the whole game and all of the System Changes, which were pretty big themselves!

Yeah, to the lights scaling nerf hurting Lily, that also hurts Ed. He's also one that is dependent on his light attacks and also a lot of his light specials. It feels like a lot of the mid to low tiers are affected by that. Different to characters like Luke and Ken, they certainly never gear towards light attacks and the light version as those two examples here. And those are only the ones I'm familiar with. Could be an interesting idea for a video. The winners and losers of only the universal changes. Which competent content creator specialized in fighting games and that sort of content could do such a thing? Gorilla-themed and grappler-affine would be a plus...
I was really hoping Lily would get more than she did. While she did get nothing but buffs, it feels like those buffs brought her forward by inches when she's miles behind much of the cast. Unless someone else discovers something really drastically strong about her changes that nobody else has noticed, it seems like she's going to be an easy bottom tier for this next season, which is sad. Especially if Capcom keeps up this "one major update per year" thing they have going, which I really hope they don't.
@@GodhandSheefwaste is an understatement. Think of just AAALLLL the other characters that could have her spot. And shes not even T Hawk just some jail bait who has to use clubs to even be formidable.

I don't think Manon was given enough to leave the bottom tiers tbh. They haven't really given her enough tools to approach in order to gain medals, even though they said in their explanations that she has struggled to gain medals. The damage for SA3 scaling with medals is cool, but not great when gaining medals is still pretty difficult. That said, I do like b.HP being plus on block.
A real detail that tells me they leave her bad on purpose wasn't just not enhancing her ways to get medals but they let her still be beyond sweep distance away from someone after she lands a grab. I fucking hate it
manon has potential, a lot of her buffs will take more time to figure out the true extent of their power. Maybe not enough to escape bottom tier but theres still hope

Man can we get a patch just for Lilly and manon that are just huge buffs i kive them but they suck sadly . Probably not everybody seems to hate them for some reason.
As someone who plays Manon and Kimberly, I would put them closer to the loser's side for the same reasons as Lily. They already did little damage, kimberly especially. Now, they will do less still with their light attacks being nerfed. They got some buffs, but since they were so far behind, manon, especially, it doesn't mean much in the end. Especially when the strong characters got buffed as well, so the gap stays the same. I don't play Dee Jay, but I do not understand why he got hit so much harder than the likes of ken and JP, who are worse to fight than him. Also, as someone who also plays Ryu (and has been my whole life), I am very happy. I don't play him, but I am also happy for Zangief, since he, like Manon and lily, had it bad in the launch version, and I am happy to see him have hope of rising up in the tiers and avenging his comrades. I am not a fan of balance decisions based around "forcing the issue", that said. Because of that last one, I am not convinced that the one patch a year policy is the best, especially since we now can see that favoritism is being shown. I still hold that two large patches a year should be the minimum.
Manon still isn't a functionning character the buffs are good but it solves no issue she has . She can't go in , no drive rush , still hard to get medals , still no way to deal with projectiles .
As much as I appreciate Lily's buffs, you're absolutely right that she "lost" seeing as how most all characters foundationally got better/funner/easier. They could've expanded her gameplan a bit, maybe mess with her movment or her defense some so she doesnt get blown up as much.
Question, did Honda’s clap always cancel into hundred hands when it has the sumo spirit buff? I did this on accident during the intermission of online matches and was confused as to if this has always been a thing or not, I wanted to test the buffs from the kicks and found it did this.
If i had to pick like an underrated Winner and Loser of the patch, it would be Marisa for a winner and Ed for a loser. I say Marisa cause while the Armor Breaking during her stance is a nerf, the fact she got basically more ways to kill you from the patch is pretty insane. Ed loses so much honestly, considering he definitely relies on his LP button. I swear, i haven't met one Ed that doesn't put their life savings on Stand LP
Agreed, hearing the lights scaling nerf I immediately shared a screenshot in my gaming group because I use them now,...a lot. I didn't so much when playing as Ken. And yes, I was so counting on Ed getting buffs, although he came out last, he could need some. It also feels weird that a boxer (the boxer for now) has so many start up frames, boxing should be one of the fastest martial arts in your game, that's what I associate with the sport...
I really like the gief buffs. There's still only 5 things I would like, having a high/low version of tundra storm instead of specific kicks, faster startup on lariats, ex lariat to hit from behind, hellstab being a 1 (num pad) input instead of 3, and more ways to combo into level 1. Other than that, he is more of a character than he was in season 1.
Would’ve been better for Lily to not jump back after her command grab, or have her jump back to mid screen so she has to spend drive rush for oki. Shame what happened to my boy DeeJay tho, he is super fun to play, and now I have to forget some juggle combos that were very hard to learn while Akuma gets to feast on his own juggle combos.
Ken definitely won for being essentially untouched, it feels like he's going to be the nago of the game where they'll give him a small nerf, then balance it out with a big buff that gives him all new tools. JP is definitely having a rough time, they really shouldn't be this afraid to let zoners be good and the mid-season patch had already given him a good smack.
man I want to, but they picked a real bad time to get the engine revving again cause im prob gonna be talking about SF6 as the primary focus for a hot minute now. I will try to get some multiversus going on but I cant guarantee it
Will you cover who has the best matchup against akuma because I can't really seem to get him except with Zangief and even then he still wins most of the time
@@rooflemonger yeah I think I just need to go back to learning the basics of the game and practicing those but it's pretty much with me. Akuma gets one hit and I cant escape his combos but I have the same issue in Tekken. Maybe it's back to the drawing board
I'm grateful for Gief's buffs. But you still need to know how to play the character to be able to succed. Nothing automatic about it. I don't think he's broken, but just more able to do what he should be able to do.

Long time viewer, first time post here. My only “complaint” about Ryu is that he still feels somewhat stubby compared to other shotos. But his buffs, particularly his enhanced combos, damage output, and Denjin Charge change, make up for it! Game on!
well I guess thats fair, but now especially with the buffs in mind he's both the primary zoner, and the one who mauls you the most up close. The midscreen is for ken and akuma now lol
I think Juri is genuinely a balanced character made for this system, am i surprised a move or 2 didnt get damage adjustments? Sure but it won't make or break her and she still has issues with fireballs. I wish i could say more about Guile but i don't play him and i think he's gonna get alot of hate cause he seems be have gotten slightly better, he could be too strong just cause the top characters got worse but depending on the buffed characters maybe they will keep him in check because JP is gonna be seen alot less.

Other than that, he is more of a character than he was in season 1.
thanks! this is very helpful and well paced. A miracle that grapplers got buffs lol ... I`m happy
Yeah I was hype for manon and lily changes until i actually played them. They still struggle the same
can someone explain how to do ehondas target combo into sumo spirit? i keep try buy it doesnt come out
I was praying for some significant changes to Lily and give me a reason to play the game again, and I didn't get it. What a disappointment :(
Ryu is the damage shoto now
Ken definitely won for being essentially untouched, it feels like he's going to be the nago of the game where they'll give him a small nerf, then balance it out with a big buff that gives him all new tools. JP is definitely having a rough time, they really shouldn't be this afraid to let zoners be good and the mid-season patch had already given him a good smack.
Capcom don't love manon 😢
I just know that A LOT of people seem to think Akuma would (automatically) win them games and its HILARIOUS lol
That’s cause everyone told them that Akuma was gonna be the best no matter what lol
Everyone crazy about Akuma right now, but Ryu lookin' saucy.
Roofle are u gonna cover anything Multiversus related seeing the relaunch soon?
man I want to, but they picked a real bad time to get the engine revving again cause im prob gonna be talking about SF6 as the primary focus for a hot minute now. I will try to get some multiversus going on but I cant guarantee it
Will you cover who has the best matchup against akuma because I can't really seem to get him except with Zangief and even then he still wins most of the time
that will take a while to figure out, theres so many matchups and so many nuances to figure out
@@rooflemonger yeah I think I just need to go back to learning the basics of the game and practicing those but it's pretty much with me. Akuma gets one hit and I cant escape his combos but I have the same issue in Tekken. Maybe it's back to the drawing board
Hey Rooflemonger, when do you think they will announce the season 2 characters?
evo is the safe bet. Could be before I suppose but certainly no later than that
I'm grateful for Gief's buffs. But you still need to know how to play the character to be able to succed. Nothing automatic about it. I don't think he's broken, but just more able to do what he should be able to do.
I totally agree about Honda!
They don’t want the black character to be the face of SF 😭
Sean is literally telling Kimberly to hold his beer 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Someone made a video showing how Luke has stolen a lot of Seans Normals, Specials, and the ground pound Super move 🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ He's even B-Rad from the movie called "Malibu's Most Wanted" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@MrBornUniqueMovie so bad it's good
🤢🤮
Long time viewer, first time post here.
My only “complaint” about Ryu is that he still feels somewhat stubby compared to other shotos.
But his buffs, particularly his enhanced combos, damage output, and Denjin Charge change, make up for it! Game on!
well I guess thats fair, but now especially with the buffs in mind he's both the primary zoner, and the one who mauls you the most up close. The midscreen is for ken and akuma now lol
Roofle do you have a club in SF6? Youre the GOAT as always 🙏
Why do you often use pajama Juri as your dummy?
When juri whiffed drive parry it looked like a kara throw 😂
God I wasnt really feeling that aki outfit 3 before. But Jesus CHRIST it just looks so good in motion. she feels like an assassin a lot more now
I think Juri is genuinely a balanced character made for this system, am i surprised a move or 2 didnt get damage adjustments? Sure but it won't make or break her and she still has issues with fireballs.
I wish i could say more about Guile but i don't play him and i think he's gonna get alot of hate cause he seems be have gotten slightly better, he could be too strong just cause the top characters got worse but depending on the buffed characters maybe they will keep him in check because JP is gonna be seen alot less.
Capcom devs definitely took the “Better Ryu” comments to heart lol.
Can’t wait for your video next year lol
same, ill be talking about all the sick psycho power gorilla buffs
@@rooflemonger 😂😂 absolutely love all of your videos brother. Love your work. Love how you visually represent all the changes. All jokes aside I will see you again when homelander drops.
Damn, Aki looks and play amazing in this patch!
i'm happy zangief is getting better, but i'm also kinda terrified
Ryu is insane now, really like this patch.
That crazy range grab is so silly from zangief lol..crapcom... you were right about juri is teleporting to his grab lol😂
I feel like dahlsim doesnt like the drive parry buffs and how people gain drive gauge faster, but maybe the damage nerfs make things more in his favor.
Nerfed and buffed a headbutt
The Great Honda Hootenanny Tournament of the Gods is back on the menu, boys
If aki's slither can beat fireballs so should ed's kill rush. The campaign for Season 3 buffs begin today.
Hey Rooflemonger do you intend to cover Multiversus again when it comes out? Im going to want to get into it, especially with my girlfriend, but you already have a lot on your plate this week 😂
man normally, yes, however since all this stuff is going down right when the SF6 season 2 stuff is im basically forced to pick and choose cause I simply dont have time to do both. All thinsg equal, a traditional fighting game is gonna win out for me over a platform fighter
@@rooflemongermakes sense for sure. I'm not sure if there's anything worth covering other than "hey it's here." It is SF6s time to shine for sure
Bruh, Kimberly just out here existing. Think I need to learn Aki
kims buffs arent bad honestly. Better neutral with qcf lp poke becoming a thing with a fairly good reward, better midscreen combo routes, better corner damage with lvl 1 being 10f now
11:59 is a hell of a freeze frame
Goodbye Deejay
Que-ing up Red Cyclone by Beefy/Grammar Club and hitting the lab tonight.
While she's not the biggest winner, if you think the Kim buffs aren't impactful watch Diaphone's video about the Kim changes.
So I waited a year and Lily is still disappointing? Smdh. I’m still gonna be one of her strongest soldiers but damn…
I feel you, I main Lily too. Maybe season 3 Capcom might give a crap about her 😢
"Raiyou" fucking sent me 💀
Who wins and who loses?
Rooflemonger have you seen Iron Saga VS fighting game? Do you like 1970s Japanese Super Robots? Boss Borot the joke mecha from Mazinger Z looks amazing, and Dancouga looks like a grappler.
cant say I have. Not really a mecha guy myself
"Minna, miteite kure!" - Zangief s.2
I'm dropping Marisa. The stance change breaking armor makes the move almost useless now.
Keep doing this, your work is invaluable to the fgc!!!
Thank you very much for the kind words and thank you for the generous support!
20 minutes ago is crazy
Capcom devs said screw Sim, he still has the worst LVL2 in the game. Sim got nerfed from SFV Sim 😭
"Hello and welcome" when drunk.. normal afterward
RYU!!!!!!
"Just cause you got buffed doesn't mean you are a winner. Just cause you got nerfed doesn't mean you are a loser"
Ed---> 🙂
Hope Snake Eyes shines this patch
Man, Deejay feeling like sf4 again.
Sidenote: why does everyone beat up Cammy?
My girl A.K.I getting some buffs :')
Aki Army rise
