I've been waiting on this review. I actually picked some purples up the other week since it's winter at the moment. I'll definitely have to pick up the greens once the weather warms back up.
You need to slide the purps of these. Great wheel,is confident inspiring and pushing you to go faster. Also a great wheel to use during the colder months.
Personally if you want beautiful sliding wheels for medium freeride speed and don’t care if they wear down quickly I recommend Cuei Steeze. They are so goddam nice but not really durable.
nice & accurate, as usual. I'm a PowellPeraltaDH wheel skater , primarily. I've gone thru them all once & of the lineup ,this is my fav from last year. They're chunk-ish, but not as bad as the 🟣 Kevin's . The green🟢 Kevin's are a more durable wheel over time , getting about 15-25% more sessions from a set than from the purple ,too. The SSFPro is the big differentiator here. That stuff is a very special urethane model & you describe it's wear cyclic chrctrstcs perfectly , brotha 🤙🏻 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Powell Peralta and Kevin Reimer are both legends and I have no doubt these wheels are all that for sure but ever since I discovered the 70mm Blood Orange Morgan Pro Series in 80A(white/green core), I just don't want to ride anything else, they Freeride so nicely! VERY predictable when initiating a slide and plenty of speed. Excellent profile and they don't flat-spot. At least I haven't managed to do it all summer and I flat-spotted my Sector 9 Butterballs the first day I had them. 🤥 If you never tried them, you owe to yourself to get a set, as they're VERY popular wheels! 😉 Another excellent vlog, btw. Keep up the good work, you're the best Downhill channel on TH-cam!
Yes I love Morgan Pro wheels too they are so nice to slide but they are the only wheels I’ve ever flat spotted - probably my fault. But I’ve never flat spotted snakes and although they don’t thane they last much longer than Liam’s wheels. I think it’s good to have both in your boot. I’ve been wanting to try the Green Reimer wheels - can’t believe I haven’t yet but I put an order in a day before seeing this review so thanks Bugi for reading my mind.
@@cmorsley I give anything to get my hands on a couple sets of new Abec 11s! A REAL shame they went out of business, as did a couple other longboard companies and btw, if you should happen to have any old Road Rider 4s laying around, I'd be happy to buy them off you. My first set of RR 4s I bought back in 1974 , wore out a long time ago and I'd like to replace them.
I actually had a version of those wheels. They're pretty good, but I didn't like how fast they wore down. Not an issue for some, but I like durable wheels haha. I love how slidey the krimes are and how big they are. Fits my riding better as I can put them on a skinny deck and not worry about rail matching and also cruise them around comfortably ya know. but those Morgans are pretty good too
@@theoriginalrabbithole :-) I’ve heard so much about the legendary Abec 11’s but never got to try them. I have tried the equally iconic Orangutan Stimulus the 80a (orange) and the 86a (yellow slide wheel). The orange are nice smooth and grippy but the yellows I find scary for the same reason the Red Cuei’s are scary. Once they start sliding they are icy and go forever unless you catch the lip then suddenly they grip. For me I have to trust a wheel. I need to know what it’s going to do under all conditions this is where Kevin is brilliant - his wheels make you feel confident.
Morgans are very easy to flatspot compated to these. They are also very grippy in comparison. I think that they're a poor choice of wheel unless you are going very fast. They are not fun for riding slowly, and they are much less forgiving both in terms of wheel wear and potential highsiding.
It hit the side of the camera fortunately. But yeah my lens had been scratched up by another even actually, but it doesn't show up so bad on the recording. Shipping for me to their warehouse would be far too expensive. I'd rather just wait for the next Insta 360 and/or try to DIY the fix on this. I wish I had bought the lens guard ...
Hey man, great review! Have you ridden the 80a version yet? Powell claims the 80a has more edge grip compared to the 75a version, but I find that hard to believe since the 80a's are super slidey once broken in. I don't know if I should go with the 75a next, since the 80a's dont really slow me down at all. Thanks!
yo so i have the purps rn and theyre way too slidey for me. theyre alrgith for free riding but i still feel myself slipping out on toesides above 30m mph. i was looking into the red formula for mor hands down riding, but wanted to know if they still slide okay,, would you say theyre grippy as well or just all around super slidey?
@@Andrewcantron7 Hey man. Yeah so I had the reds for a bit and then tried the purps. Reds grip way more than the purps/green. The only reason my reds weren't slowing me down was I was riding crappy pavement that was really hot so just about any wheel would feel slidey. Took the reds to a newly paved road and they gripped really well but still had a consistent glove down slide. Pretty chattery when new, but nice and smooth once the skin is worn off. Reds are predictable and have lots of brake power on smooth roads!
*1:58 - The slide is sugary-ish in stage 2. And in stage 3, it can feel sugary if you really push into them.
All those smiles everytime you slide describes these wheels pretty well
Hahahaha, yeah they're fucking lit. Makes skating feel amazing
Thanks for the honest and thorough review. I just ordered a set of 80A duro wheels and I hope to get to stage 3.

I def plan too get a set eventually. I'm convinced!

Have many sets of purple I love them, I have a fresh set of greens I’m eager to use this summer. Thanks for your review bro!
Can you do a review on kevin reimer's race wheels? (The red ones) please???
Not likely going to do one. But I can if there is enough interest!
what kind of gloves are those
Nice, think I'll pickup a set!
Bro I saw you also smacked your lens at ~ 0:23
Do you use a lens guard? I just smashed a lens and sent it into Insta360 to hopefully get it fixed

@@josephlegg5216 perfect thanks so much!!
What board were you using in this video?
I think the cole trotta pro, but also used the freedive a bit I'm sure
is it common skull graphics fade away so quickly?, I barely got purples 3 days ago and second day graphics were gone lol. by the way, great review!
Yup, all powell wheels graphics thane pretty quick! Thank you
The funny thing is, this is literally the wheel I got for christmas
Consider this a late Christmas gift
What is the softness of that wheel ?
Like is it 80 A ?
75a.
And no durometer isn't an accurate indicator of how well a wheel slides. Formulas result in a variety of performance from the wheel
@@downhill254skate ok thanks for your prompt reply.
Also which country is that ?
Kenya!
Nailed it 👌🏼👊🏼
🙏🙏
The only drawback of powell is that they don’t thane, everything else is premo
Mine actually thaned!
Mine did thane a little bit tbh! Was quite suprised
Overrated.
I disagree
