Keep going...they have no bad songs!! I think they all did the backing vocals on this one. Jimmy is known for doing vocals on Whole Lotta Love and Thank You. Also in concert and in studio Bonham did almost all the backing vocals...he had a great voice!

Greatest rock band ever. I wore out all their albums. Greatest prog band called YES, and a song called Roundabout off the Fragile album is a peach and a trip

The amazing thing is, Plant & Bonham I’ll say we’re vertically unknown, a couple of small bands & also played together in one or two together. Page & JPJ we’re both sought after sessions musicians, & played on some well know albums. Page however I’d say was the most well known, having played 2 years with The Yardbirds & touring all over. To think how these four music geniuses were only together 2 months, before recording this amazing album. Within 6 months, they made their mark on the world, & it was HUGE! Most bands did the small gigs, building up a following, & played together for awhile before making it. First rehearsal on August 19,1968 recorded album in October in a total of 35 hours, & by November 9th had a record contract with Atlantic Records. They also at that time had the largest signing bonus of $200,000, which by todays standards would be 1.5 million dollars. Thank you for both reactions.

Correction: If you would have bought $200,000 of real estate in Toronto in 69, it would be worth $21,000,000 today. Geez gas was $3 😊

@@lesblatnyak5947 I’m going by what I heard from a video about them, I don’t think a signing bonus is the same as buying property though.

    Great proto-punk track. Love it!
The more you listen to Led Zeppelin, the more you will likely be able to say, "That's gotta be Led Zeppelin" when you hear a song you don't know. Takes a while, but it happens. Page's and Bonham's playing style in particular, and who could mistake Plant's voice? With very few exceptions, Page wrote all their music and Plant the lyrics.
Edit: Sadly, there's not a lot of video of Led Zeppelin performing that isn't bootleg stuff (often not good quality) - but there's a lot of audio. I think it would be cool to do what live video+audio that you can find dated near to when they recorded these songs. Watching their early performances is a gas. Look for the 4-song performance recorded by Danmarks Radio, or some of these songs performed during their 1970 Royal Albert Hall concert.

It's a great idea to see some live versions of the songs from this first album before moving on to the next one.

This song is such a freaking banger. John Bonham is going ham on the drums on this track. I can't wait for your reactions to the second Lp. Great reaction and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏

Oh yes, please do some live performances especially the one from Denmark 1969. I think you’ll particularly enjoy it. How many more times 1969 live at Denmark, please before you move onto the next album.

Interestingly enough, neither song was that popular or hits for Zeppelin. Until peeps started playing them on youtube.

This album was released when I was in HS. I was always a Cream fan and Zep partially filled the void left by their demise. Jeff Beck filled the rest of it, and better. Page was a phenomenally adroit guitarist (although a Satan-worshiping degenerate also) but the rest of the band, with the exception of J P Jones, didn't impress me. Bonham was a basher, not a musician, and Plant's vocals are nails-on-chalkboard. They have had their moments but generally overhyped IMO
