As someone who sometimes beats themselves down for not being good with some characters compared to others, it makes me feel good that the pros also deal with such problems as well, knowing that even the best players start from somewhere
This is honestly so vindicating. I was being hard on myself for blanking so hard with Rashid but of course he's gonna take time as a complex hybrid character.
I see some peeps down in the comments (and other places too) talking about comparing themselves. Dont ever compare yourself in a bad way to others, see them as inspiration and learn from them. Youll see so much more and improve so much more along with that too, plus when it really comes down to it you gotta focus on your own journey or else youll miss the journey entirely and not notice your own amazing improvements. Everyone started somewhere and you gotta be the best you can be❤️
I suppose I’m playing rashid at a much lower level so maybe it’s a bit different for me, but I find that a lot of people either jump into ranked without even trying the character let alone doing the combo trials, and then beat themselves up over not being able to play the character. I always run through the combo trials at least twice, not so much to learn actual combos, but more to see what the game wants me to do with the character. Then, I’ll go into training mode and figure out how to actually play the character. What’s my fire ball? What’s my dp? What are my air to airs? What’s my ground anti air? What’s my overhead? What are my target combos/command normals? What normals can I cancel into specials? What specials leave my block strings safe? You really only need to learn the most basic stuff like that to play the character semi competently. Once you get that down and maybe get some actual practice against real people would I move on to combos and punishes. What are 1-3 easy links, and whats a combo I can do with and without meter, and can I find an easy way to include a super in the middle or at the end of one of the combos. Basically I look for a simple combo that can do nearly everything. Once I get that down, I then practice it against real people since I’m actually under pressure then. And once you get that down, that all you really need to play the character at the most basic of consistent levels. All the more complicated stuff will come with more practice and more time, but you need to start with the super easy stuff as a stepping stone. No wonder you’re beating yourself up over your performance if you just jump in and expect to figure it all out immediately. I suppose it’s also worth nothing that you’re not going to be good with every character. There are some characters that you’re just going to be worse with for one reason or another. You can ofc just push through that and try and improve with them, but sometimes it’s best just to move on and either try a different character or go back to your old character, and that’s ok. But my main point is, learn what the game wants you to do with the character first. Everything else comes later.

He also has a really fucking fast Honda headbutt that goes far AF, drags you to corner AND LEAVES HIM ON TOP OF YOU, that isn't on a charge input, has better wind buffs than lily that makes all his shit mad safe ridiculous mobility/air mobility. Strong dp anti air, can buff his dp to be +1 on block from FULLSCREEN. The way you guys talk about Rashid makes it sound like he's low-mid and he's fucking not and will never be. Just because the character is hard to master doesn't mean the character is fair

Also I swear to fucking God if Rashid makes it into top 8 all of you denying how good he is are gonna suddenly jump on the op bandwagon. All it takes is one tournament and one pro players opinion and people like you immediately change their minds Folks like you do this shit ALL the fucking time. When the beta was out anyone who said modern controls felt too strong was called a scrub and assumed to be trash at the game. Suddenly daigo makes a video where he states concerns that modern might be too strong(he has since changed his opinion), and suddenly EVERYONE was sharing his video, agreeing with him in comments, and pretending they aren't just mindless drones

Rashid has some DUMMY pressure set ups, one even where you're FORCED to block... As someone learning Dhalsim, I hate yet love this due to having a new tough match up to face and learn online, and how tough a Rashid with the basics can be.

It's because the American SF2 arcade cabinets had names for all the buttons on the machine. For example Jab Strong Fierce are LP MP HP and Short Forward Roundhouse are LK MK HK in modern times.
Not at all, Eagle Spike is easily punished when not done from behind a tornado. He can't just throw it out like Honda. Full screen mixer is also hidden behind tornado.
This character was so overhyped. Stubby buttons, mid damage, struggles vs fireballs, bad anti airs, his new double jump is very bad his old dive kick was much better. He is very good but not the EVO destroying menace everyone thought he would be. They need to fix his anti airs, give him back his roll as a separate move and give him back his old 5mk and cr.hp. Then we can talk about Rashid being a TOP TIER.
