I was never a fly fisherman, so when I told friends and the shop that I wanted this rod as a beginner, they told me that I was mad. About 30-40 hours on the rod, and its first now I start to get the feel for how to properly cast this rod. Its like reversing a car with a trailer, the first time you gotta keep your tongue straight and focus hard, but after having done it 100 times - I bet it gets easier. Not there yet, but when I do focus and follow proper procedure, boy does it deliver, and I can only imagine what a true joy this rod must be for those with honed skills.
Looking forward to keep developing my skill with this rod, surely is a challenge, but in a country surrounded by sea and wind, a rod like this is the only way to go!
    Greetings from Denmark.

My favourite rod ever. Have it both in sh, and as a dh. The red corvette of fly rods.

Ordered a sage method all the way in England.....using it with the sharkskin 5wt GPX line which runs a 5 and a half wt. This rod is a joy to use when you get used to it you can punch awesome straight lines and use surprisingly bulky flies or lures on a 5 weight rod. One of my fave flies is the peArly daddy tied by Sid knight and with half decent technique I can cast this heavy tungsten daddy without issue. I love this rod

LOL - I'm far from an expert caster but I got a 790-4 Method to fish primarily in a saltwater estaury. I put on a #7 Rio Outbound Short and it is the easiest casting combo I have ever owned. There was no tricky technique or adjustment to my casting style. The rod slices through 10-15 knot sea breezes like nothing else and with a 1/0 clouser it easily sends out 70-80 ft casts with a single backcast. It is the best casting and fishing rod I have ever owned and has dealt with everything up to 19 pound Yellowtail kingfish.

There is always one in every crowd.... unfortunately in fly fishing there are too often one-Hundred in every crowd. Selling to know-it-alls who know little is a real challenge. Cheers Sage!

So now i have to save up money to buy a Sage method, before i was a loop guy, and loop does some good things. But its videos like this that first catches My intrest, then i search the web for rewiews and last, store and feel the Rod myself. That way, i know what people think, and i also know that you really should get yourself an own opinion.
Only thing i miss is more videos of the txl-f

LupusDeAqua yeah best thing is to try for yourself I have seen shootouts reviews of people saying this is best thing or that is. In reality what works for you may not for others best thing to try before you buy. Sage makes great rods and I am sure there is a rod for everyone’s casting style out there.

You walk in the bush with the rod backwards so you don't break the tip, $800 dollar rod! tips break easy when they hit solid.

if you walk in with rod tip backwards you can snag it and break it too so not really any different than walking forward. Best thing if you don’t know the path-real well and it is very narrow put rod together right at river before you go in. Also I am pretty sure that’s sages chief rod designer Jerry Siem. He makes some great fly rods. And I am sure he knows his way around there.
