We have wind farms, solar, hydro power. @@FellDestroyedMusic What they need to realize is that we are operating to create alternative energy resources. The fact that EVs and stuff even exist is testament to that fact. We have wind farms, solar, hydro power. That they expect the last 200 years of doing things to change overnight is much more ludicrous than using the fuels they so passionately and mindlessly fight against.
Have we damaged the environment? Sure. Will we go extinct due to our own impact? Maybe. But to think ordering a soy latte and shouting like a child in public is going to change anything is pure silliness.
If they want to effect change, they should obtain degrees or trade certificates in the field they wish to advance and work to advance it. We can only change the world that's within our reach; to think we can change the mind of the entire world with a bit of shouting is foolish at best, narcissistic at worst.

This can only be one thing, fossil fuels, primarily coal from the Carboniferous and Permian periods of the Paleozoic. (14C isotopes increase in the 50s due to nuclear testing but after the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty of 1963 began to "decrease" causing us to be able to discern that offset, really that "decrease" was the increase in 12C from fossil fuels).
Plants in the Carboniferous period of the late Paleozoic developed lignan but decomposers had not yet evolved the ability to decompose, to eat, lignan, so these plants went through diagenesis in swamps to become coal.
