To be honest, I think it is fine for 2025 but not thereafter. The Base and Pro devices are getting closer and closer, and I think I know how Apple should differentiate them. Give the Pro's higher battery capacity, and larger storage. Make the display for the Pro's as 6.0 Mini and Max 7.0 Max inch size, with the Base as 6.3 and 6.7 for Plus. Give them higher specced screens (thinner bezels, 1nit low, 2000nit high, 1hz low, to 120hz low voltage) as opposed to (slim bezels, 10nit low, 1000nit high, 10hz low, to 120hz standard). I think it's a natural result of the upgrade from an iPhone 15 series phone seeming senseless due to little new things, but from a much older iPhone or even older Android, it looks pretty promising. Including iOS 18 bringing some staple Android features like customisable home screen to the iPhone, and some new buttons that Android phones have often had in the past, and you have a good recipe for capturing some switchers.
I don't think it's weird at all to be honest. The other phone manufacturers unveiled just as boring upgrades, but the tone was certainly more positive for those devices from all of these TH-camrs. That’s conversation awareness, and it works astonishingly well for me. For the few times it gets it wrong, a quick click or swipe on the stem will override it. Adaptive ANC is when the AirPods turn down loud environmental noise. I still have a 6s. Literally the only reason I want a new phone is for a better camera. Every other feature on every new iPhone just seems like a gimmick for niche crowds or something neat but won't be useful for day to day. The only software change I think would be nice to have that my phone can't get is the hidden pictures lock function. Is it worth paying $1,000 for a camera and a minor QoL update? No. Idk why people buy a new phone every year when nothing substantial really changes. Anyone serious about gaming will buy a laptop or a console. Anyone serious about photography or video will buy a proper DSLR. Anyone serious about AI and video editing will buy a Mac or PC. The phone can do a lot of things casually but won't ever replace better dedicated products. And the vast majority of people don't care about AI so that's hardly a selling point for a new advanced chip.
I upgrade when there are new features that I want or my phone breaks. I got out of the upgrade every year or 2 trap when I started buying unlocked phones rather than buying thru carrier contracts.
This event was trash. - Airpods max = Colors (no more blue?) - Airpods = Did get cheaper ANC so theres that - Airpods Pro = Hearing aid stuff, seems more of a software update and will help some, but doesnt justify a new purchase for most. - IPhone = All models Action Button/Colors/AI (hardware refresh but basically software change) & hardware camera button? - Apple watch ultra = colors and software update - Apple watch = standard hardware refresh and again - software updates. Pretty bog standard stuff they SHOULD be doing for the most part.
Just FYI, there are no new AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro 2 (previously called the Gen 2) are already two years old. All they did was announce software as if it was a new product. AirPods Pro could already to the dynamic muting of sounds and music upon speech, and they already had a sound amplification mode in the accessibility settings. They just made a big song and dance about features that were already in IOS 15.
Because there is still a huge subset of people using series 3 and convincing them to upgrade is far more compelling than some one on a few generations old as it’s not hardly needed at all.
Yes, they were comparing it to Series 3 and Series 6. I don't think there's much of a market for Series 7 or later users to upgrade, there's not much of a reason to do so

The whole trip on the metro is 15 minutes, so watching a full movie (while your battery goes down 1% is quite unrealistic).
Lol, everyone get ready to see grandpa and grandma wearing airpods everywhere ... church, family functions, driving, movies, the mall ...
And that's worse than wearing hearing aids? I mean, I understand that hearing aids are generally designed to be less obtrusive, but *real* hearing aids are also ~$2,000 - 7000 USD per pair. Compare that to ~200-300 USD for the AirPods Pro 2? Of course, they are going to be bigger and more noticeable. But they are also about %10-15 of the price...
@@BenjaminSchollnick never said it's worse. I just said "get ready" to see older generations using airpods ubiquitously. My fil uses hearing aids and I'm fully aware of the crazy pricing of those things plus batteries.

Yet I bet there was no need to buy such an expensive model of hearing aid.
The iPad did something similar with art tablets. With an iPad Pro you get an art tablet with a screen, good pencil and some functionality even Wacoms can’t do, at maybe £700 ish pounds. A Wacom tablet can sometimes cost £1000s plus you need to buy a computer to use with it.
Though I don't like apple very much, I know someone that's using airpods as hearing aids since at least a year ago, and it works better than hearing aids for them. Might be well worth to explore that option for your father, especially if it gets better soon.
Yup I noticed how stunning the ambient noise adjustment is on the Galaxy buds 3 pro so I immediately got air pods for my grandmother who already has an iPhone and she can definitely hear better plus have a normal cellphone conversation without screaming at the phone

I think it's a natural result of the upgrade from an iPhone 15 series phone seeming senseless due to little new things, but from a much older iPhone or even older Android, it looks pretty promising. Including iOS 18 bringing some staple Android features like customisable home screen to the iPhone, and some new buttons that Android phones have often had in the past, and you have a good recipe for capturing some switchers.

the eco system of apple only works if you really just want to use it in the way Apple thought how someone would use it. Having a different idea and want to do it? good look with that. It starts by not having adaptive screen ratio for the external screens. Screencasting photos from an I pad to my TV still looks like 2012 as the Ipad ratio is put onto a normal 16:9 ratio
I thought the same until I got used to copy paste between my work MacBook Pro and my phone. I can’t do without anymore, I use it 50 times / day
Since you mentioned drawing. I keep waiting for Apple to add pencil support for the phone. Can you imagine how cool it would be to doodle a sketch on a phone while out, and coming home to finish it on the iPad. Why can't we do this??
Do you use a program that automatically transfers your photos from your iPhone to your PC? I know you can download icloud or whatever on your PC which will automatically download your iPhone photos from icloud.

Linus: "OMG YES, GONNA BUY!"
The hearing Aid thing will be massive for Apple in the coming years. I can only imagine the amount of hearing loss that anyone 30 and younger will experience by the time there my age (62 cough cough). I'm already noticing my hearing is not what it used to be, and I've not had a lifetime of being connected to headphones.

Does anybody still care what's new in the new iPhone? For many years it's been "I'm an iPhone user, I am gonna switch to a new iPhone in x years no matter what".
- Airpods max = Colors (no more blue?)
- Airpods = Did get cheaper ANC so theres that
- Airpods Pro = Hearing aid stuff, seems more of a software update and will help some, but doesnt justify a new purchase for most.
- IPhone = All models Action Button/Colors/AI (hardware refresh but basically software change) & hardware camera button?
- Apple watch ultra = colors and software update
- Apple watch = standard hardware refresh and again - software updates.
Pretty bog standard stuff they SHOULD be doing for the most part.
Just FYI, there are no new AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro 2 (previously called the Gen 2) are already two years old. All they did was announce software as if it was a new product.
And mind you, the software isn’t even new. AirPods Pro could already to the dynamic muting of sounds and music upon speech, and they already had a sound amplification mode in the accessibility settings.
They just made a big song and dance about features that were already in IOS 15.
Funny how it’s very clear when Linus videos are sponsored by a company. In this case - Apple
A kidney and liver joke from a guy who’s definitely not hurting on money and gets to write the purchase off. K
8:41 Did Apple seriously compare the series 10 with the series 3. Kinda weird ngl.
Because there is still a huge subset of people using series 3 and convincing them to upgrade is far more compelling than some one on a few generations old as it’s not hardly needed at all.
@@quantuminfinity4260 Did not know that or think about it at all. The point makes sense indeed. Thanks for the info.
Yes, they were comparing it to Series 3 and Series 6. I don't think there's much of a market for Series 7 or later users to upgrade, there's not much of a reason to do so
It's still not a very valid comparison considering they compared the thickness to the 6-7-8 but the screen size to the 3, I'm sure it's not much bigger compared to the 6-7-8's. But weird apple, but we all know what it's about

fun fact about the iphone 16 commercial: it was filmed in budapest, but the cities beauty was mostly erased with cgi. The m4 metro went to “union station” instead of Kelenföld vá. or Keleti Pu. The II. János Pál Pápa Tér station was the place where the Apple Intelligence features where demoed. The whole trip on the metro is 15 minutes, so watching a full movie (while your battery goes down 1% is quite unrealistic). The scene where you could see the Árpád bridge going over the Danube, is quite a controversial scene, since there are big office buildings photoshopped there, that the government wanted to build instead of affordable apartments. The place where the project was is called “Rákosrendező”.
Budapest city center is a wonderful place, and shouldn’t have been ruined with apples cgi, that made everything look so american. ☺️

Yea i really dont get (or like) the push towards software focused security. How long untill that ford electronic app gets a vulnerability found, and a car, or dozens, gets stolen.
What do you mean? That key fob is giant
Wouldn't be as big of a deal if our phones weren't also so gigantic. Remember the original iPhone size or the early models? Those were reasonable. Now everyone is carrying a mini tablet as a phone. I'll take smaller width and height over a little slimmer any day.
@@username7763 Same. I'll never forget when in 2007 Steve Jobs called the iPhone's 3.5 inch screen "huge". Nowadays even the iPhone "Mini" is almost too large imho.
Key fobs don’t need to be that large. Mazda’s is barely bigger than a golf pencil, and Tesla doesn’t use them at all anymore.

Didn’t Samsung introduce adaptive audio or something similar 2 o 3 years ago with Galaxy Buds Pro? Why is he acting like Apple came up with this feature?
Yepp. Working like a charm
Apple has had transparency mode since 2019 with the first AirPods Pro and adaptive mode since 2022 with the 2nd gen AirPods Pro. In fact, the hearing-aide mode Linus mentioned in the video is a software update coming to all AirPods Pro 2, no new hardware required.

A lot of people don't like the Airpods Pro (or anything with an actual tip) because they apparently can't stand the feeling of something being in their ear. I've talked to a lot of people who have said the same thing
This is me. I always get the base Airpods and am glad they offer it.
@@ericbrizendine I've never tried any of the airpods so this is probably a stupid question but... how do they stay in your ears without the silicone or anything going around the outside of your ear? I've looked at them and just assumed you're asking to lose one pretty quickly.
@@beepboopbeepboop190 What makes you think the ones with silicone tips stay in the ears any better? I have the Pro 2 and they basically only stay in my ears reliably if I don't move. Simply lying down or bending forward is basically a guarantee that they fall out within seconds. This problem is so widespread that it spawned entire product lines of alternative third-party tips.
@@SaHaRaSquad only because different size tips for different size ears. I don't have airpods but I can keep my ear buds in bending over or lying down and they don't budge at all. Mine have the memory foam type material instead of silicone though so maybe that's key.

the second "iPhone"
I'm a huge tech nerd and I'm not buying an iPhone 16. I started using computers with an Apple II at age 3 in 1980. I bought an iPhone 1 on July 1, 2007. I am a proud early adopter with tons of unused tech keeping my bookshelves from blowing away.
I've upgraded my iPhone every 1-2 generations since my first one... until my iPhone 13 Pro Max.
I'm not sure what happened but none of Apple's new iPhones have offered anything truly magical enough for me to upgrade... including the iPhone 16.
My 13's camera is great. I run ChatGPT, Copilot, and Grok with no problems, and the phone is still plenty fast (unless Apple performs one of its "patented" nerfs with the new version of iOS to make it run slower so I'll upgrade).
I don't see anything compelling about the iPhone 16 and the fact that a lot of the "Apple Intelligence" features won't even come out until 2025 prove there's no reason for me to upgrade.
Maybe iPhone 17? 🤔
