    It is beyond ironic (but not surprising) that a brand and publication that touts itself as speaking truth to power with headlines and titles like "Don't become a victim of audiophile wire fraud" uses AI to train and then steal thumbnails from fellow creators in an attempt to bolster its numbers. You stole our work for this video, and rather than come up with your own ideas, you simply changed the color, hoping others wouldn't notice. Disappointed you'd stoop this low.

      I'm sorry that you feel that way. It took 20 seconds to generate a generic background used by numerous channels. It has my pose not yours, my text not yours. It was meant to be humorous since it's a comparison video and none of the content in this video is even remotely similar to yours.

      @Audioholics, I'm sorry that you, as a publisher, failed to have an original idea and, as a result, used a computer to plagiarize another person's work. You have no idea the amount of effort that goes into every single thing that we do on our channel, including the thumbnails that are NOT generic but original works that I create from scratch because in my professional career prior to TH-cam, I was a Photoshop artist, which you already knew. The fact that you are doubling down on your actions speaks volumes.

      It is more shocking to me that's not explained what's going on here. You can clearly see in the Horizontal frequency frequency response that these speakers are to go parallel to each other, straight into the room, and far apart from one another so you get a flat response @ 40 degrees toe out. So! you do not want to toe in these unless you want more treble presence. You do not want to sit in front of these speakers. However, it seems to me it is a reasoned and intentional decision to generate a specific sound dispersion off axis trying to compensate for losses of directivity off axis.
      If the reviewer toed the speakers in, he did not do himself a favour.
      Not saying this is the best solution or the way to go. I am just saying, with the few images with data on the video, there are interesting conclusions that can be drawn as to how you want to approach these boxes and set them up for a nice in room response. Also, not to mention, expensive speakers are for folks who can afford them. and wealth grows with age. So! , perhaps they are looking to provide older ears with more presence and energy in the room. It would make sense these deliver an expansive soundstage compared to a more controlled and narrow response. That's all.
      also, a bit of a dip on the presence region. These can have very nice depth. It looks to me a well tuned design, nothing was left to chance here. Not good on my room and application, but nothing wrong with them either. I like that horizontal response.
      Also, if the speakers were not located in the same exact spot in the room, the differences in bass response are much more driven by the room than by the speakers themselves.
      Disappointing review.

    Shane a neutral linear frequency on a speaker doesn't necessarily transfer into transparency (i.e a clear sonic presentation without any coloration). I've auditioned Perlisten S and R speaker line ( Floorstanders, monitors and bookshelf). They excel at being very dynamic and being able to go to very high decibel peaks (above 105) without noticeable distortion. However, those are traits of world class Home Theater speakers, not necessarily world class hifi speakers. I can't comment on Yamaha speakers as I have no personal experience. They do have a reputation of being a good two channel hifi speaker. I can say that I've owned and heard speakers with better transparency, soundstage imaging, and dispersion charachteristics than any Perlisten. I did experience a wow demo of Perlisten S7T ($20K), but the caveat on the experience is that the front end (electronics) was $60K. Great speakers do indeed scale up with better components. Thanks Shane and Gene.

      Never said they had clear sonic transparency. They're actually quite bland sounding. But people always like seeing that flat graph which makes it easy for comparisons.

      Next time we'll do it like everyone else does.

    • @astroman269
      @astroman269 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      @therealshanelee it's not about doing it like everyone else does. Don't take it the wrong way.
      It's about giving as much info / insight on a specific speaker to understand what it's merits and shortcomings are and for it to stand in its own, without knowing what the other speaker sounds like.
      If you keep referring to how it compares to the other one, that means that, In order to actually understand what your comparison means, you actually have to understand how the other one sound. This requires that you go and see the other review. More bass than X doesn't mean anything, unless you actually know how much (and how well defined) the other one sounds. If the perliston is a world champ in that regard. Then you come out of it thinking... Hmm, the Yamaha doesn't have good, or great bass. Yet it might be way up there, just not as good as the world champ you are comparing it to.
      It is not as helpful as it could be for a viewer in actually determining what the qualities and shortfalls of a specific speaker are.
      You either use many points of reference (if you are into this style of music, be aware that the low end is this, or if you are into this other style then you have to take that into account) or mostly none. Using only one becomes... A comparison, rather than a review.
      It's not meant as an attack. It's just feedback on what I got out of this review. Like I said, also, I own the speaker. I can't not be biased towards it. I don't object to your general opinion on it (I did tune the treble a bit down on my A-S2200 amp). It's just feedback on the style and why I think/feel it doesn't quite work as a review, but more so like a comparison. Which, by the way, is fine too. It's about setting expectations. 🙂
