I never understand how you guys don't have more views / subscribers! Love the videography and storytelling. I cycled on the Otago Rail Trail about 10 years ago (just one day) and loved it. It was a beautiful, clear blue sky day, but in summer, so probably a bit warmer than what you guys had in September ;-) Brings back great memories!
Thank you for the kind words, always means so much to us 😊🙏❤️ Would have been interesting to see what the towns were like 10 years ago! Summer definitely would have been hotter, but still very beautiful
we did this in May many days were at Zero or Minus 2 , frezzing cold but the best ride ever, great places and folks on trail, ( only us mostly) stayed at the Pubs along the rail fantastic.
Awesome video, i plan to do this with my husband in a few months. I wonder what you think we should budget for accommodation and food etc. I have absolutely no idea 😂.
That's awesome, you'll have an amazing time! There is some links in the video descriptions that'll help you plan and book your trip. I can't remember exactly how much we paid, but rough idea below: Accom - $150 per night Food - ~$60 pp per day. Breakfast is usually included at the accom Transport - $100 pp We had our own bikes, so I'm not sure how much a rental for the 3 days would cost, but I would assume ~$200 pp
Great pacing (& b-roll) as usual Chris makes this cruisey trail shine. We were already looking forward to riding this in March'24 and now we can't wait :)
Don't think this video does it justice to be honest! I really struggled editing this one. Regardless, it's a fantastic trail and you'll have a wonderful time
@@ChrisandDanya it’s definitely on my list. We have a great new rail trail here I just did a video on from the Northern Rivers Rail trail in Northern NSW if your ever in the area.
Great ideas to try cycling through out south Island never think about doing cycling after so many time went there🤗 thanks for the info very helpful 😀 👍👍💙
It's such a wonderful and easy 3 day ride. You can easily make the days shorter and do it over 4 or 5 days as well. Lots of great cycling trails in the Otago region
@@ChrisandDanya Not on my newer board. It has about 50km range, so the battery is too big to be considered as 'carry-on' luggage. I did manage to bring my older board over in 2020, right before the borders closed but I only had 20km range back then.
You can start in Middlemarch or Clyde whichever you prefer, but the transport companies are usually based out of Clyde so you will likely leave your car there. Transport will take you or pick you up at the other end. Some have transport packages from Queenstown, Dunedin, etc, but depending on scheduling, you will likely need to spend a night in Clyde either before or after your trip

Thank you for the continued support! 🙏😊
I reckon we'll edit either another packrafting video, or the Paparoa Track next 😉
Superb video. Amazing quality. Pristine viewing. Kudos
Thank you, really means a lot 🙏❤️😊
Oooo Kapiti ice cream is one of the first things I grab when I visit NZ!
The best 😁
Well done and what landscapes 😊👍🙏💪
Thank you! 🙏 It's such a beautiful region. I regret not spending some weekends checking out some of the hiking trails in the area
Great video. Thanks very much
Thanks Matthew 😊
You guys consistently make the most wonderful videos!
Thank you Sal 🙏
Awesome video! Did this trail last October, brings back great memories 😁. Thanks for sharing, you two deserve so many more subscribers!

Great video! Gonna try do this one in Spring!
Would be a great time to do it! Should be a lot greener
@@ChrisandDanya yeah we try to tackle the cycling trails in Spring. Clutha Gold was amazing during that time so I assume this one would be similar!
@@GlobalTravelStories Should be a great time!
Very nice video and ride 👍
Thank you, would highly recommend doing it if you ever get the chance!

Wow amazing

Amazing, as always. Wish I could bring my electric skateboard over and explore more of Otago.
Can you remove the battery to fly with it? You might hit enough towns to charge it each day

Are the batteries removable? You might be able to rent one over here. I know some people do that for E-MTB's
First... that was really cool.
⭐
Do the bike companies transport you to the start at Middlemarch? And once finished at Clyde do they transport you to Queenstown (for example)? Thanks

Greetings from Malaysia. Well made video. Must plan this trip 2025 hopefully ❤❤🎉
Thank you! Hope you get the chance to do it in 2025!
Hi Chris. What would be the best time? Spring ,summer or autumn???
@firdaushanapiah7691 I think we did it in Autumn, but any of those times would be good! Would be nice in winter too tbh
Doing this Jan 2025
