  • My parts donor is nicer than my project bike. What am I going to do about that? Enlist the help of the Mighty Breakfast Bob and sons of course!

Hi Josh, thank you so much for the shout-out. I'd just settled down to watch your latest episode and suddenly I'm bursting out laughing when you said "Su...perb!" You really brightened my day 😀
It's great watching you "figuring it out" 😂 and progressing with this project. Your relaxed, easy going delivery makes your videos so watchable.
Looking forward to your next episode.
    All the best, Dave

Thanks so much Dave. Those are the very same reasons I love your videos so much. … and I’m looking forward to yours!

It’s pretty astonishing how heavy some of those old cranksets are. Good call on the square taper. I hope the chainline works out with the hub. Good call on the brakes too. Restomod all the way.

You aren’t kidding! I have skipped the kind of bikes that had them for past builds. I have a second square spindle if this one doesn’t line up.
Are people restomoding old English 3 speeds? I guess I am.
Thanks so much. I really appreciate it!

Awesome stuff, Josh. I hate to tear up stuff that’s made it 50 years intact too. The Su-perbe project is going to be fantastic to watch. You are too kind! Thank you so much for the shout out my friend! I’m learning a lot about the old English Raleighs from you for sure!

Glad I'm not alone in feeling that way about old/intact stuff.
Credit where it's due my friend. I've used that brake track hack more than once now. I'm glad you put it out there.
Seems the fun, and excitement live in the weird, pain in the ass learning places I've just discovered normal people call "challenges." These old English things seem to be exactly that.

I’ll get some footage of the other stuff he’s built around town, and maybe an interview of sorts. But probably not until the weather is warmer.

There is so much that I could say about Josh and his work. These bike builds are very interesting and he has skills we beyond what you can see. He has this sense about how he goes about with these builds.
The gate at the end of the video was one of my first. It is pretty good but some time soon I will contact Josh for the updated latch mechanism.

Great video. As a sober bicycle dude, and I’m always building some bicycle or bicycle related things.❤So yeah I Dig this 👍, I just converted an early 90s Raleigh metallic green mountain bike (clean bike from original owner)using a Bafang bottom back bracket motor, 750watt,E-bike for fun.😊

That gate door is far too cool! Ol Raleigh is coming right along. Its going to be a fun bike to build, ride, an show off!!
I like Columbia bikes. They were Schwinn's primary American competition. I have this odd Columbia frame thats a monostay frame but it isn't as cool as that Raleigh tho!!
    Happy Day my friend!!

Thanks pal. I aim to get footage of some of his other creations about town, and maybe get him to talk a bit about them.
I wonder if Columbia was licensing stuff from Raleigh in the 80's since even the brakes are the same as the 72 LTD-3 parts bike. I read the Raleigh wiki page... but that's a lot if information to retain all at once. And as you might guess, my head is already full of shit flying all over.

@EriebyCycle I am sure it is, friend. That's a good kind of busy or chaos, if you will. Higher education, the regular 9-5, and a hobby or interests... all good things to better yourself!
You engaged my curiosity on Columbia. So now I'm going to take a deeper look into the company. Lol!
      Happy Monday good sir!!

@@billywood9717 I suspect I might have a look as well. Warm and sunny here for a change. I hope you have the same, and a chance to get out in it.

@EriebyCycle beautiful day here! I think it reached 68. Sunny all day. Little bit of a SW breeze and gust. So I decided on the singlespeed. Its a fun funky build that took me forever. I tore it down and rebuilt it 3 times. Lol!
Work requires some travel, so I have been able to enjoy it! Hopefully you had the time to take advantage yourself man.

Thanks for the info. Probably stuff I learned (or should have) somewhere in school, but have since forgotten.
My wife and I looked it up so I wouldn’t make a fool of myself again.
