    In this free drum lesson, I want to teach you the main parts from the song “Tush” by ZZ Top featuring Frank Beard on drums.
    Featuring a famously cool sounding, but technically difficult drum beat called the “Texas Shuffle” this song has Frank Beard giving it some real feel and spice on the drums. I show you what Frank plays as well as other ways it could be played also.

      If someone is just confused, as I am, one of the meanings of a word 'tush' is 'buttocks'.

      @@DrumsTheWord That's really nice! It's yet hard to find good contents among all of the ones available online, so to find good free contents looks like something almost miraculous 😹
      Moreover, I really like to listen to your voice and accent 💪🏻

    Thank you so much for this video. I played this song years ago in my very early twenties with a band but never got a chance to really study it in detail. I basically had to learn it off the cuff on stage just based on hearing it a few times on the jukebox or the parking lot of the clubs through someones car stereo. Too busy at the time gigging to actually sit and woodshed with it. Now this song is back in my life in a new band. I have time now to really get it right. You're video really helped tremendously. Being a Texas drummer, you did a fine job on the Texas shuffle. Frank would approve. Videos like yours are way more useful than learning how to play a million beats a second (which absolutely ZERO hot chics are ever going to dance to.). This is a working Cats video lesson. Not a circus trick instructional video. Great job! Thanks again! I'll be back for more.

    So why did you completely ignore the guitar solo section? I've seen that played on HH and on ride.

    • @DrumsTheWord
      @DrumsTheWord  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There was nothing new regarding the drums to teach that the other sections didn't teach.

    • @mikeo942
      @mikeo942 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DrumsTheWord hmmm. you talked about other variations. It's ambiguous (to me) on the studio version if he's playing hh or ride but on nearly every live video he's on the ride. I know all songs evolve live but I truly think playing at least the second part of the solo on ride (or bell) more fits the spirit of the song. Just an opinion.

      @@DrumsTheWord I think it would be a much easier way to learn if you were to put the notes and bars up on the screen so people can see what to play without having to struggle and listen. That way you can pause the video any time you like and continuously look back up and down at your iPad/phone to master the beat

      @@adamdevlin7333 You have the free PDF drum notation over on my website, Adam. The extra editing required to do what you ask means a lot more work for me and less videos being released per week. If I'm honest, I don't think that my videos deserve comments like that...as well as the thumbs down you gave me one minute after the video was uploaded.

      @@DrumsTheWord I think everybody has a different way of how they'd like to learn the drums, I think this is perfect together with the PDF you have for download. So you indeed do not deserve a comment like that at all! If only for all the hard work you're doing for such a long time already, mad respect!
