    I did the stupid diets,yoyo diets,restricting for 30 YEARS!!! When I found the Starch Solution I thought what the heck,I'll try it for a month and see. I was like 57 or 58 at the time. The weight melted off me, I ended up losing 52 lbs. and have kept if off til present day and have NEVER in that time counted calories.What fREEDOM! I have been eating like this for going on 8 yrs. I am now 66 and have NO problem maintaining my weight.Kiki channels like yours and Hannah's, and Plant Based Storm are wonderful and freeing. Thank you for what you do. It is very important.       I just turned 64! I will have to check out Plant based storm! Thanks! I've been eating whole food plant based since July 2017. I'm 5ft 5 inches and weigh between 115 in Summer and up to120 in winter.

      Karen, that is great to hear! I've lost 25 lbs. on calorie restriction the past 6 months but honestly am really tired of counting calories. It's good to see a mature woman has followed this and been successful not counting calories. I'll give it a go...although I am a bit nervous gaining if not counting? Good for you!:)

    I started off with keto and paleo too. Now I am on the Starch Solution I am down 90 pounds with still a lot to go, but I am so excited to get there!!! I also got off blood pressure medicine and no longer have anxiety, and GERD!!This way of eating is amazing and I love it so much! I will never look back! Thank you so much for this video!

      Thank you for your post. I am 57-58 and have struggled with my weight. I need to lose 50+ pounds and have wondered if this is good for women in our age group as I’ve tried SO many diets and vegan eating So good to read your post. Kiki and Hannah are amazing and I love all of their good vibes, recipes, inspiration, etc. Peace and Love

    I seriously cried a few times throughout this because I know it is all true. I was skeptical, but excited about trying this lifestyle and it is amazing! I lowered my cholesterol 38pts in 3 months, lost 20 lbs so far and best of all I came off all of my sleep meds. I also experience seasonal depression and have had so much success with keeping my mood stable throughout the winter so far :) You were a huge inspiration for this! When I found your channel i didnt really have any intention of going plant based, but after seeing all the benefits and how simple it is, my husband and I hopped on board and haven't looked back!

      @@brendaghuerta4430 honestly I just did everything kiki said to do and followed the starch solution. I've definitely had treats here and there, but mostly I stick to the 50/50 plate and keep it simple with starches and veggies. I start with oatmeal with berries for breakfast, lunch is usually potatoes or rice with steamed veg. Dinners are usually soups or stir fry. Mostly I just stick to the whole food plant based foods and enjoy them a lot. I would also recommend heading over to the mommy vegan's channel. She does the same thing and with super simple recipes too :)

    I went vegetarian a little over a year ago and haven't looked back but I was having a hard time transitioning to fully plant based. I found your channel in December and quickly devoured all of your content. I had never heard of the Starch Solution but I've since bought the book (as well as The McDougall Quick & Easy Cookbook and Plantifully Lean) and decided to dive in for the new year. It's only the second week of the new year but I'm still going strong. I REALLY want to think you for making this way of life doable. For a full time working remotely mom of a 1 and 3 year old (AT HOME), all of the other vegan channels I saw were just too time consuming and complicated for me to implement. I relate to the "lazy/efficient" debate so much. Thank you so much for your content.

    I’ve watched every one of your videos (some more than once) and revisiting your journey with us is so helpful. I did Orangetheory for almost 6 years until 1.5 years ago when I injured my knee. While I did love it, it was tough on my joints (I’m 56) and so that’s why I’m committed first and foremost to conquering my food, otherwise, I’m just a hamster on a wheel. I’m part of the Eat More Weigh Less community and I know I’ll get it together. I actually eat fairly healthy but not enough for a 180lb+ woman in menopause. 2021 is for me. Mentally. Physically. I’m determined to get it together so I can enjoy my life. I’m so grateful to you and Hannah. I know my journey may be slow but I’m okay with that and prepared for that. Doing the right thing is what really matters.❤️

    I’m 43 and have been struggling with my weight for many years. I started the SS 6 days ago. I’m finding JOY in eating again. Potatoes 😁 so many potatoes 👏🏻 brown rice and lots of it and I’ve dropped 4lbs in the 6days. I’m am about to go on vacation and have ZERO desire to eat out or forget the SS for that time. I plan to move forward and eat my way joyfully to a healthier me.....

      Me too! I’m 37 and I finally want to be able to wear the slim fit jeans and leggings I’ve always wanted. When I go out with my kids I’ll be getting a cup of tea (when we can get out again that is) and eating at home xox

      I understand where you are coming from. I’m 5 2 and when I started 6 days ago I weighed 193 and now I’m 189. I would like to not have my joints hurt and Id like to be able to play with the grand littles without getting tired!

    I just started on this journey when I found you lovely ladies in November. I had been vegetarian for quite a while then vegan more recently, but didn't lose ANY weight and actually gained. I completely switched the way I was eating thanks you and Hannah. I don't get on scales, but my clothes are fitting better, I actually have gone down a size since Thanksgiving and looooove what I'm eating now. My joints don't hurt in the morning when I get out of bed either! Bonus! Thank you for spreading the love!

      So glad to read your comment Joy. Years and years of yo-yo dieting, I went vegan a little over a year ago and it started great, but over 2020 to now I have gained 25 pounds on a vegan diet. I only found SS two days ago, so just started this morning. Even on a vegan diet I have tried very hard to avoid carbs, so reading this book has really opened my eyes and I am looking forward to the possibilities of regaining my health.

    Just wanted to say thank you for sharing ur story. I have recently read the same books and started my journey on this new life style change. I lost 20lbs the first month and only lost 5lbs the second.. I have actually stopped but im still overweight.. I was just looking a different videos and came across urs! Thank you so much!!! Seriously I knew I was not eating enough veggies as before but u just confirmed it.. I dont ever leave comments lol but I just had to say thank you! Super motivated to get back on track again.

    Your story almost made me cry! We go and try all these these diets and they don’t stick and get discouraged once again. You are my main inspiration on eating this way 😊 I’ve been doing the starch solution since October 2020 and I have lost a lot of fat. It’s crazy. I hope to continue this for a lifetime.     I feel like you’re telling the story of me. When you said you were terrified of crossing 200 lbs.... that is me. I’m on the border. We have very similar body struggles, same weight and college struggles. After my third daughter, I hit my peak weight and haven’t been able to lose ANY of it and gaining. I’ve gotten to that “analysis paralysis” stage trying to find a way to lose my weight. Never being able to stick with anything. I have a good gut feeling for the first time about this. I’m watching all your videos and reading the book. It will be hard cause I’m a meat and potatoes, Midwestern girl, but I can do this! You’re very inspiring!

    Great video Kiki! I love how you talk about coming back to the 50/50 for most of your meals as a key to your success for maintaining your weight. I recently watched a health doc on Prime called Beyond Weight Loss (not WFPB, but still interesting); in it they said “don’t let a lapse become a relapse.” I think this is huge for long term success. It’s not about needing to be perfect, it’s about coming back to what works. Thanks for being such a positive voice and inspiration!!!

    Yup- I lost 50 lbs last year going vegan and hiking. My blood pressure came WAY down also- I was stage 1 hypertensive (160/95) and now it's 118/70. Looking forward to getting my cholesterol checked to see if it came down also- my doctor wanted to put my on Lipitor.

    I recently lost 25 pounds through exercising like crazy and counting calories ALL the time! Lately, it seems I've hit a wall and my motivation is waning.     Kiki, I followed your 50 50 plate rule for 5 days with 1 meal not so good for you and lost 3 lbs. This is so easy and I do not feel like I am deprived. I look forward to my meals. I made the mental switch and I am in it for the long haul. You are such an inspiration. This is my year to get healthy and loose about 35-40 lbs. Thank you for caring and helping us do this!
    *** Update...I am amazed , I have actually shed 5 lbs in 6 days on the 50/50 plate. I made copy cat panera broccoli cheese soup with water broccoli and your cheese sauce Kiki. It was delish..no fat. One cup of there's is 14 grams of fat. Yours 0. You are amazing. Thank you for helping us get healthy without sacrificing our favorite foods. I actually feel empowered and in control now of my health in this time of stress we are all in now. I'm a stress eater. At least I can control that. Thank you!!?.

    I am going plant based to manage MS. I lost 45 lbs in 5 mo on low carb. However, it was too hard on my body and sent me into an MS flare. I gained most of it back the last year and now I feel awful each time I try to start again. I am planning to follow OMS (plant based, low oil, limited fish) but still want to lose weight. I am 2 days into SS now and feeling fairly good. 😊 Your channel is so helpful.

    This is very close to my story except my cholesterol and blood pressure is fine. Couldn’t lose the baby weight, even after nursing for 15 months. Pre baby, I was doing paleo and p90x, looked amazing but didn’t feel good at all. I missed beans and potatoes soooooo much. Did weight watchers and atkins in vain after baby, only 5lbs lost. My baby is now 4 and Im FINALLY getting a sense of normalcy again, so after eating 75% plant based for almost a year, I’m ready to go all in. Im 40lbs over weight for my height so hopefully things improve while following SS. Thanks for your videos Kiki.

    ugh ok been vegan around 18 years and a few years back was gluten and wheat free lost 30 pounds. trying to get back to that. encourage me!! i know when i give up the processed vegan stuff it helps it’s just i’m always hungry

    You have inspired me Kiki and I have already lost 6 ponds in 3 weeks! I LOVE to eat lots because I am athletic and need to feed the beast-- see! I was vegan for 3 years before, but eating a lot of rich and processed vegan foods. Instinctually I knew this was bad, but I now understand why---- I needed to cut the fat and thrive on all the wonderful phytonutrients in whole foods! Prepping food and having easy meals ready is the key! I am in love with living this way and am still only way down - thank you for all that you do! I feel like this is THE way of eating for me, for the rest of my life. Keep the inspiring videos coming!

    Omg! Finally validation. I was on keto and working hard and exercising and lost just a few pounds after a months. I tried every diet known to man. I tried the potato diet for a week and lost 6.8 pounds but potatoes without salt is so restrictive. I also own the Starch Solution but am looking for ways to do it with more flavor. So glad I found your channel. I'm inspired.

    exactly I did amazing on Keto for 4 months and then...... I stopped and gained back exactly double. So I knew this time around I wasn't gonna do that again. No health issues thank god but def over weight (40 pounds) so its been about 1 week on the starch solution and I love it!!!!

    I LOVE that you said you ate half an avocado a day and still lost weight eating everything else clean and vegan oil free. Avocado is essential for me to add into spring rolls and I wasn’t afraid to add scant amounts which added up to about a half avocado across 10 spring rolls. And I have lost a bunch of weight already! Love your program too so glad I joined.

    I am spamming your comment section girl lol but I decided to give this a try! I have PCOS and Insulin Resistance, carbs TERRIFY me! But I thought to my self, "Alondra, you can give this a try, if it does not work, at least you can feel proud of yourself for getting out of your comfort zone!". Keep me in yalls prayers and well, I am excited. I miss carbs so much and I freaking love veggies! I just ordered the book on amazon and texted my boyfriend to see if he wants to join me!

    I am already at a healthy weight and was vegetarian by choice for last 6 years. In fall last year I started research on dr macdougal and watched TH-cam on you and high carb Hanna. I did feel at my optimal energy level and had some healthy issues despite being at a healthy weight so I started vegan in October last year since then I lost 6-9 or 10 lbs and go a bit up and down some weeks bc I still incorporate oils at times and do not always stay moderately active as I should but I feel it’s a lifestyle and I’m not rushing to make it happen. I have felt much more energy since going vegan to the point where I can carry my 35 lb daughter a long time I never use to be able to. A lot of my past health issues also improved and I notice the inflation slight swollen thing dairy can cause I have lost I did not even know I had that. Thank you for all your videos they are motivating and you helped me get my energy back after two rough pregnancies and a health scare to where I never knew I will get that energy back!

    Please do a video on womens hormones, I have been on the starch solution for a while now and have lost 15lbs. I reintroduced soya products and have had some menstrual problems, I have now cut them out again and things have returned to normal (for me) so interested in your story xx

    Thanks so much for this video. I have lost more weight than ever with a vegetarian/partly vegan diet. Low Carb only led to maybe 8 lbs loss and then it stopped. Also it led to unbearable cravings and hair loss, weakness, sleep problems. Never again. Meat made me so overweight and stuck to my body in fat. Feeling much better, lighter, hairloss gone. Low fat and high carb is my way to go. Lots of fruit helps me with sugar cravings. Could you do a video on how you improved your self confidence?

    The worst diet I did was high protein/low carb/low GI/low calorie. I lost weight so slooooowly. After 6 months I started getting very angry. Like my personality changed. It was scary. Thanks for your story!!! I found your channel through Chelseamae's channel.

    I just love how you and Hannah are so supportive of each other and authentically want everyone to have the same success as you. I am going to read the Starch Solution to understand the science of this way of eating because it is so frustrating when you have Dr. Berg saying the exact opposite with his keto plan on weight loss. But if you can eat potatoes with your Latina blood, then so can I. I will keep u posted and I hope at my age it will work as well as it did for you. Blessings

    I'm glad I watched this video because I needed some motivation. I have been following you for quite some time now and I've been plant-based for the last two and a half years after watching a couple of your videos I was following the 50/50 plate and then fell off the wagon and the pandemic and gained all of the weight that I've lost back and some. I started eating out more adding oil back to my diet just doing a whole bunch of things eating all the things I'm not supposed to eat and still plant-based but just eating a lot of junk food and chips and things like that so I am starting my weight loss journey again healthy journey this week and it's hard because I'm the only plant-based person in my household so when they have all the snacks and chips around it's ultimate temptation for me. But wish me luck because I need all of the willpower I can get LOL.

    Hi Kiki. I really enjoyed learning more about your journey and seeing all the photos. It is so lovely your husband committed to the 4 months to support you and lost lots of weight and that all the family eat this way too now. Did you feel your hormones calmed down at all when you weaned your daughter? I am slowly weaning my son and feel my hormones and weight are all over the place. I still need to buy Dr Barnards book.       @@mmc1086 I don’t restrict myself at all. If I’m hungry I eat. I just make sure it’s the proper food. I’m sure eventually I’ll level out and I’ll only eat three meals. Good luck to you as well!

    I'm a new subscriber and am binge watching not only your videos but others as well that are doing wfpb diet. I struggle with lots of bloating, indigestion and chronic headaches. I'm new to this entire lifestyle and quite hesitant to do it honestly just because I love food and making this drastic of a change is scary. I know I'm doing good for my body and it will take time.     I relate so much to your story, healthy weight in High school, kept off most of it afterwards, but it was a lot of focusing on controlling it, let go during my pregnancy with my first born, then gained 60 pounds during my pregnancy with her. Haven’t lost anything since, and am pregnant again so my midwife is telling me to maintain not gain or lose at the moment, but I’m almost to my due date, and looking at routines I can get into to take off the weight for good, your video seriously resonates with me, and makes me so motivated and hopeful since it sounds like prior to your amazing weight loss, we have had a lot in common weight wise.

    I gained weight after I turned 16 and started driving...much less walking! When I was 27 gained 60lbs with my first and only pregnancy. I'm 41 and have gotten 40lbs off but can still loose 70-80lbs.

    Hi Kiki, I came across your video and thought I'd give it a look-see. Then you started talking about Dr McDougall and showed his book "The Starch Solution", and I'm like, oh yeah. Super congratulations on your weight loss. Also enjoyed how thorough you were in describing what you eat and exercise.     Love watching your videos, thank you for sharing your journey. I have tried like you keto, intermitting fasting act act and always put back my weight, feeling very unhappy with my weight, I walk and jog most of the days, even swim in the sea in winter. But weight isn’t moving even when I am so active. I have recognised biggest problem- its sugar... I make cakes for living and I am surrounded with chocolate, sugar, flour... I have also I have addiction to sugar. I can be really good for few days and then I can’t control it. I bought book “Eat to live “ and I will try again since I love fruit and vegetables... maybe you have tips how to manage cravings? How to stay away from sugar? How did you manage your cravings? Thank you again for your inspiration xx
