    I'd honestly love a mini-series or dedicated video going over various recipes with the VMCs. I wish Vallejo would expand on these with a "Game Metal" line or something so we can get some variety of colors. They're literally sitting on liquid gold and not capitalizing on it.

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I completely agree, can't believe they don't expand the range. That being said, I am going to do a whole video on combinations.

    Have been looking for a old bronze, which is quite dark and desaturated. Tinny Tin from VGC mixed with a little black comes close, but you can still see the large flakes (which I know you dislike too). So I mixed Vallejo Model Color Copper with Black (Kimera in this case) and really like the result. It looks a lot like the reference pictures and covers very well too. No longer has the shine, but I am painting old weathered bronze (on skeletons), so not looking for that either. You can always use a glossy black instead of the Kimera. I imagine that GSW bronze with black would look great too and maybe come closer to the real thing, but the more yellow you go, the more green the final look get's and I wanted still a little extra warmth which copper has more than most bronzes do.

    Perhaps the color is off on my device or on the video, but it looks like the recipe provides a great "fresh" bronze. Wouldn't older bronze with verdigris be a richer and less shiny brown? I suppose the non gloss agrax earthshade or maybe the green shade would be appropriate to matte and desaturate?

    Thanks for this! I was dissatisfied with the sparkly Bronze Model Color that came in my Vallejo color set, and this looks perfect. So, if I wanted to experiment with mixing on my own, would you want to stick to only mixing in contrasts, washes or inks?
    Edit: My LGS was out of both Silver and Fyreslayer, so I ended up picking up Duraluminum and Guilliman Flesh. My result seems a little more brown than the recipe shown here, but I'm really happy with the result regardless!

      Glad I could help! and yeah, many of the colors and inks can produce good results.

    Just saw a video from you working with an airbrush, and my question is what compressor are you using? Seems like yours is just turning on when you spray, i like that.
    Thanks, and nice video as always!

      Pretty much any air compressor of the appropriate size that does not have a tank with it will do that.

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Elliot is correct, it's just a nice simple master compressor (read: cheap) but it has a tank which is wonderful.

    And another question, we know that VMC Copper is a bit too red and that Constrast paints are pretty matte so it's generally a good idea to use them to shade metals, is there a Contrast paint that can help with TMM copper in a similar manner to this bronze recipe? I'd assume it'd be one of the green ones, but there are several of them.

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could use the greens, or even the dark browns or blacks, copper can have lots of nice colors.

    Oooh, I might have to start investing in some Vallejo metallics. Certainly would be better than my leadbelcher...

    Try doing the exact same thing with Gore-Grunta Fur! Personally, I find fireslayer drifts towards copper, but then if I was shown the two images you put up at 2:10 I'd answer copper, rather than bronze. Thinking about it, the Gore-Grunta might end up closer to brass? Or is brass more yellowy? And now I'm wondering how snakebite would look mixed with silver...
    Either way, contrast paint mixed with Vallejo metals are such a joy to work with!

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed, there is actually a huge range of potential mixes here and it's wonderful, it really does produce some wonderful results.

    I just got these paints, and I'm so happy that you've made this video. I will definitely use this method for bronze. How'd you go about making a brass colour with vallejo metal and contrast paints?

    • @VinceVenturella
      @VinceVenturella  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brass is something that still eludes me, but theoretically, just add some more red.

      @@VinceVenturella Thanks Vince. I think I’ll try different mixes of the two yellow contrast paints and maybe the slightly brown ones such as cygor and gore grunta. Will report back with results if I get a convincing mix.

    Excellent tips. Once More.
    May I suggest you write somewhere in the video or in the descrption below the name of the paints you use.
    Most of the time I get can get most name from the voice, but occasionally I miss a few names, especially when it itis brand I don't use on a regular basis.

      Certainly, in videos where I am using any long list of paints, you will see the full list in the video. This one I kept it simple, as it was just Silver and Fyreslayer flesh for the bronze. The oxidation is any colors like that you prefer. :)

    • @VinceVenturella

      I use some Dark Bronze from Pro Acryl or mix pigments. I will sometimes use this as well, it's a mix.

      Yep, you can get a good look out of that as well, honestly, it works either way, but you get slightly different look. I just like this one. :)
