@@RyleiA Well you only really need to know the sounds. The sounds in Japanese are very similar to the sounds in Finnish (my first language), with the exceptions of ji and fu. (Also chi, Finnish doesn't really have that sound.) I can really just read the romaji text and say it, and by extension sing it pretty well.
