My sister and I marched in the Crossmen this year, and it was a blast. The Crossmen always had great drum lines and color guards. In my opinion, I think this arrangement of Russian Christmas is by far the best. To all drum corps alumni, those were the days!

I marched in North Star in 82. I thought Crossmen had one of the best hornlines that summer. Great Program Overall as well!

This was before DC I turned it into a marching band competition, superimposed on a three ring circus. We no longer have real drum and bugle Corps. May they all rest in peace. Drum Corps International should change, to marching band International. Just call it what it really is today.

I agree. Marching Bands of America ruined DCI.

The crowds reaction around 1:50 gives me chills thinking about how that would have felt on the field.
    What an adrenaline push.

That's back when we had real color guards. Did they they were bunch of ballet dances, wearing leotards and they dance and they prance. Today is January 22nd 2023. Boy do I miss Real Drum and bugle Corps. May they all rest in peace. You can thank DCI for that.

Somehow, even during a Summer activity that this would be a Christmas tradition in drum corps houses in the future.

Does anyone remember in 1983 how many times we changed our show that year? A lot! The day of prelims, we were still changing things, it was absolutely nuts, just so we could make it in the top 12, but we still got screwed. I have never seen so many adults cry in their life, it was a travesty! I think a deal was made behind the scenes, but I have no proof. It seemed awfully fishy to me, and to a lot of other people. Word in the stands was the other corps were really nervous how great we performed that day, but still didn’t get in. Water over the dam!

My first recollection of Flag/Rifle at the same time was in 1979 by the Florida Vanguards.

hey guys, everyone is talking about middleschool bands playing this piece but they have the watered down version, i've played the real arrangement, it's so much harder than the watered down one

The Alfred Reed original or the simplified grade 2 and 3 versions extant taht have been published over the past few years!? A lot of wind band classics have been re-done in simpler versions for MS level bands....

It's funny when I watch high schools play this song when my 8th grade symphonic band is playing this song

    • @laymeht

you gotta remember though that you may have played the watered down version of this piece because the original is much too difficult for an 8th grade band.
