Dragonfly Scrap Sculpture. DIY Garden Art

Making a garden sculpture with scrap metal of a Dragonfly… well it ended up looking like a Dragonfly more then a Bee... I think. Supplies: 1 old tractor headlight, 3 great big bolts, some random steel rods, 1 old two man saw blade, hand full of large ball bearings, 6 screws, 4 farm scrapper blade thingies. 4 old round chain links, some garage door cable, 10' of 1/2" black pipe, 3' of 1/2" black pipe, 12" of 3/4" black pipe, 1 small heavy duty spring from a train.

The key to welding cast iron is it has to be clean and pre heated

Good to know, Thanks. My father-in-law said something about a high nickel content rod too? My process for sculptures is, clean and weld until it sticks.

My wife said the same thing, when it was dancing around on the end of the pole. I'll have to come up with a new name, cross between a mosquito, dragonfly and a bee with a dash of steampunk.
