I am from Baltimore Maryland and lived here my entire life and I have to disagree with the title. Maryland crabs are freaking amazing. 💯 I definitely eat crabs from different states but Maryland crabs have the best taste. Just keeping it real brother. Great video!!
I have lived in Florida my whole life but never knew how to catch blue crabs. I watched your videos, followed your instructions and was able to harvest 3 crabs my first time trying it out. I live in FTL and it’s great but Jupiter is pretty awesome.
That is awesome! Live in Tennessee now but from Charleston, SC and some of my fondest memories are me and my best friend out catchin blue crabs and flounder when we were like, 12 or 13. Hope you keep on and catch some more! Tight lines!~
Crab traps with discount raw chicken from the grocery store always caught us plenty of blue crabs. If you're dealing with picky crabs soak the chicken in canned sardine oil🤙🏼It's my secret so don't post it on TH-cam or social media.😉
Try chicken necks for bait!! I grew up in Cooper City, Florida! I didn’t know anyone in my middle school or high school that caught and ate more blue crab than myself!
I did it once years ago here in Tampa Bay and had a great time
The way we caught em in SC was by tying a chicken wing to a piece of string and hanging off the dock. Caught a lot that way!

We live on the gulf side, Crystal River, we go crabbin alot but this year we could hardly catch any, even in the middle of summer, but as soon as the water got over 85 which was in late July we have literally been able to catch as many as we wanted, we got 20 jumbo crabs in one trip, about 5 hours, we probably threw back 30 or more, we use the wire cylinder nets with chicken as bait, crabbing is alive and well, thanks for another great video.

In a nut shell. The water changes color due to the depth and the amount of floating particles in it (algae, jellies, sediment). It also has to do with how many light particles are being absorbed by the debris. Thus giving the effect of dark water and light water.

Md. Crabs are sweeter than the rest. That’s because the Chesapeake bay has more fresh water flowing into it than any other estuary in the country. More fresh water/ less salt= sweeter crab meat.
That said, I’ve had crabs from all over and never met a crab that I didn’t like.

Sorry Robert, been a longtime fan of your site, but you calling out Maryland crabs with that pull is like me calling out Florida because we have a few palm trees at a club in OC... You can go crabbing here and pull up a proper pot, not a pot with 1-4 crabs in it. This year however, the crabbing hasn't been so good I hear from the watermen. I guess even crabs need a season off once in a while. Still, the video was fun to watch. Glad your friend enjoyed your pull. Any crab I can get is the best crab for me. I eat Louisiana blue crabs because this is where we live, but I'm not going to pass up any crabs. Yum!

When I was a kid we used to go crabbing in LBI, NJ with my Uncle Fiori. My Aunt Stella used to cook them in spicy tomato sauce with spaghetti. Believe it or not, Maryland has been over fished. MOST “Maryland crabs” aren’t from Maryland. They’re importing them.
My favorite town… prob New York City. Although, I do love Edgartown, MA. I wanted to move to Jupiter or Palm City, Fla but the wifey poo refused. I also love all of the little New England town in Vermont.

You should try chicken, it's way better than fish. Where I live in Florida I get about anywhere from 5-10 crabs a trap using it. When I use fish I rarely get more than 3.

Hey, I'm a big fan, love your style of cooking. I am also a trained chef and from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. But crabs from Maryland and Virginia are southern crabs 🦀 also. Florida crabs are bigger and tastier I must add.

A blue crab, is a blue crab, is a blue crab. PS, most of the blue crabs sold in Maryland crab houses aren't from Maryland.
Maryland blue crabs are all about how they are cooked.
Beer, white vinegar, Old Bay or JO Seasonings and rock salt, over the crabs suspended out of the liquid. Some people cover the crabs with newspaper to trap more of the steam into the crabs. Bring to a rolling boil with the lid on and steam for 12-15 minutes.

It’s a shame he hasn’t had crabs from the Chester or wye river in Maryland. River crabs are the crabs that made the state famous. I can always taste the difference between river and bay crabs. I’ve only seen him running pots in the bay. Trot lining the rivers would be a great video. Especially in October when you can crab, oyster and rockfish all in the same area

Currently living in NWFL been here 20+ years. I need to say that both northern and Florida crabs have a different taste. Northern crabs have a more pronounced flavor while Florida crabs have a more subtle flavor both good for different reasons.
