i like group projects only if the teachers for once know how to choose properly and know which kids go along with which kids or letting them group as they want.
Like what do you imagine will happen if you put a smart kid a leader and then made the one bully he hates most one of the group members? What do you expect except of a fight

About a month ago I was partnered up with some dude I’ve never talked to before to do a group project. We spilt the work evenly and both of us ended up finishing it early. We turned it in 3 days before the due date without barely even speaking to each other. Got a really good grade on it too. 10/10 experience

Reminds me of how back in highschool, my engineering class gave us a group assignment to build a device capable of launching something 20 ft. Most people built catapults but our group decided to be fancy and make a trebuchet. Long story short, it's 3 days till the project is due and all we have are the schematics. I was on both of them to get the materials to start building but they weren't listening because this was supposed to be built in class. I went screw it, asked the teacher if I could just do the project myself because my team mates were both just messing around, and then me and my grandfather built a man sized trebuchet in my father's garage out of wood and weights.

I actually used to go to that "shady warehouse" its really just abunch of gaming nerds and we do software help, the reason it was closed was because Brett (Keymaster) was buying CP on the dark web, and all the computers are connected to this one router in the main room and we usually have to check all the logs so nobody is doing anything illegal. Brett got arrested and everything got shut down. Pretty ironic to see Brett telling you guys to get out because you guys had "drugs" guess he didnt want to make a bad record so it wouldnt get shutdown.

As a person who always took accelerated classes, I can agree. Accelerated classes can either be the best thing ever, or the worst thing. In grade 10, I got paired with a kid that was really smart, but was rude, lazy, and played Pokémon Diamond (I think, it was on a chrome book) 6 hours a day. Anyways, he did nothing, and I had to complete an assignment myself, that was worth 15% of my grade. Nonetheless I got 96% with my partner, because I was nice enough to not tell the teacher my problems

I was the only one who did good work and I was so close to just doing their portions for them. I told the teacher and I scraped out with a 50% on the project, the rest got 30%. And that's why we're controlling because no one else actually does good work.

The thing that I learned in the military is that the three most important things to be a successive team is delegating tasks, effective communication, and most importantly of all is ACCOUNTABILITY. Without accountability the slacking group member is just going to get away with their shitty behavior. What's most shitty of it all is that some college professors leave this part out and don't teach it to their students. So, when the students get into the real world and have to work in a team, their shitty behavior is going to show and will get them fired. Teaching students to hold each other accountable is just as important as learning other soft skills and technical skills.

I had a sad group project experience once. When I was in pre-algebra, there was a combination lock activity where the combinations involved the solutions to equations, and if you unlocked four, you had no homework. Of course I (who had an A or B, I can't remember) was put with one of the people who struggled most. Even worse, I didn't even have a complete group.
On the fourth lock, each person tried to solve one of the equations. The other people were slow, and also, the bell rang right after we all got our answers. When a member of my group checked our answers, I was the only one with a correct answer.

OMG that film project part absolutely defied expectations. What an amazing tale, Saga :)
And I thought my group project experiences were eventful. Boy was I wrong. I just had, like, y'know, the guy who did nothing and let me fail (thankfully this was just a small group assignment rather than a massive PROJECT) That was in Physics, which I already struggled with to begin with. Last thing I needed was for the teacher to pair me up with the guy who fails everything all the time (no joke the dude flunked 10th grade English class twice and fooled around in every class he was in, I don't think he graduated with us, I don't know if he ever did either)
Then there was a project on aquatic organisms, also in 10th grade (though the Oceanography elective course it was in counted as an 11th grade Science credit, IDK how normal this is to you Americans, this is Canadian school system we're talking here) And this was a 2-student group PowerPoint. Which is already weird, because PowerPoints by their very nature go by best with one person working on them. Like, I was putting things in my PowerPoint, while this guy was on another computer putting together his own. This was barely a group effort. I don't even remember how this worked out, but we ended up passing no problem.
I did a film project in a Film Production elective course in 11th grade (again the course counted as a 12th grade credit) that was quite eventful. No there were no suspicious keymaster guarded warehouses that look like Kremlin Bot Headquarters or anything though. One of the dudes like refused to do his part and ended up dropping out or expelled I can't remember. We needed to keep our clothing the same in all shots for continuity sake, and one guy would forget to bring his correct shirt with him. We had a "controlling girl" type in the group but it didn't matter because nobody listened to her. One time it got so desperate they tried to get me to skip one of my other classes to get some more filming done. I think we might have actually gotten the vice principal contributing to the project because it was so dysfunctional. I can't remember for sure though.
Those were the major ones I remember...

My group projects only got better after college 😂 for what it’s worth, colleges get people with similar work ethic. The guy who didn’t show up dropped out of high school. The ultra control freak girl went to Yale or wherever. And you go to college and your whole group is people that are just trying to get the project done and hard carried teams of slackers back in their day.
For any high school kids out there-don’t worry, adult group work isn’t like the shitty high school group projects. The slackers get expelled and fired. Everyone else is semi decent.

I think that place might've been a hackerspace. These are spaces filled with tools and hardware you can use for your projects if you don't have everything you need at home or if you want a different kind of place to hang out at. They often have stuff that's a bit too expensive to buy for a single project for yourself, such as 3D printers and CNC machines. If you're ever interested in getting into electronics or want to use these kinds of tools you should see if there's a hackerspace nearby and hit it up.
