  • This little video is a good look into the beauty of camping remotely on the East Coast/ Cape of New Zealand. A part thats often bypassed as it's way off the main trail through New Zealand.
    Out these ways you will find a stack of empty beaches and free camping sites. The one thing that you likely won't get out here though is water.
    We've show cased the some of our best parts of camping out these ways as well as how destructive a big storm can be to the coast.
    Hope you enjoy our video.

    Great video! Kind of compressed everything into an advert for the East Coast. My family has owned a house at Te Kaha for 67 years and that is where we are heading after Christmas. Thanks Leopards, have a great Christmas, (and Summer)

      oh wow, should have messaged you for a spot as well.. We had rubbish weather at Te Kaha which was annoying I was so keen to get some fishing in there... Merry Xmas to Ya'll as well.

      Thanks mate, I'm hoping this video will be one of those ones people find when searching the East cape... My 20 days in the Far North one, has been getting a lot of views over the spring and summer, one of the better preforming videos so hopefully this one will be similar. Lots of time in the editing process of this one. Glad you enjoyed it. I have enjoyed watching it also. You guys have some good summer camping locations planned?

      Thanks for the comment Catherine. It's a great location just a bit of driving compared to a lot of other amazing locations you can get to in New Zealand in less time... I just love the quietness of it all, it also has a lot of history... I wonder if this area was busy 70 years ago then it is today?

    Another great episode Mike!
    My wife, three kiddies and I have recently purchased a caravan to with our first proper trip starting this Sunday.
    We are learning so much from your videos and are almost tempted to bite the bullet and do something similar.
    We’re heading from Welly up the East Coast, so we might bump into you at a campsite in the next few days.
    I look forward to the next video.
    Cheers,
    Josh.

      Oh thats so cool Josh. TH-cam def helps with getting a few tips aye. We've learnt a lot over the years from being tenters, to the retro caravan, which had no plumbing to now being in a tiny home lol... We are heading towards Napier as the weather is looking average, feel free to private message us on Insta or Facebook if you want to come find us. We got a couple of mint spots we would like to check out and you'd be welcome to join us.

    • @leopardsgowild
      @leopardsgowild  ปีที่แล้ว

      oh go you guys. I hope the weather is being kind... It's a shame when freedom camp sites close down. I feel like they almost need more of them rather then less... They should also have some that are designated toilets on board and sites which have a public toilet available... I'm a big fan of responsible camping... you can have no gear and still camp responsibly and respectfully and you can also have all the gear and be irresponsible with your camping... Enjoy the South Island we are looking forward to getting down there Mid Jan!

    Great information, I'm surprised at the cost of water, where I live , A Mining area a lot of people buy their water , Only $5, for 1000 litres, There is town water for freehold blocks and some lucky mining claims. , But most have to cart water., Enjoyed episode Cheers Bevan 🤠❤️🦘🦘🇦🇺

    • @leopardsgowild
      @leopardsgowild  ปีที่แล้ว

      I imagine for 1000 litres that would be for a house fill?? Or House water tanks???
      Generally water in New Zealand is completly free first time i have ever paid for water, but there isn't any other option out these ways. This spot Te Puia springs is on spring water but they are paying for it to be treated was their reasoning... I feel desert water out in the mines is pretty cheap then aye? $5 for 1000 litres... In a house you would ration water far less though.
