  • I always knew 3d printing was going to change the model scene forever.
these models look absolutely flipping awesome!!
this is the first proof I have seen
that confirms I will be preferring to spend my money on custom models of machines not otherwise made by established model manufacturers.
I always wanted a model of cats biggest mining shovels and excavators prior to the terex/o&k / bucyrus line purchase.
these 350 ton beasts look as good and some cases better than very exclusive low number production models.
I am absolutely blown away by the quality of detail and attention to finish.
if you are plant heavy equipment model collector hopefully you will share my anticipation as I unbox these beauties.
    enjoy.

    .............G'day from Australia,
WOW! The Indonesian model IS indeed FANTASTIC in my opinion also, just from the video.
I worked in the Weipa bauxite mine for 20 years as mechanic/fitter/machinist. The largest I repaired and serviced was a 150 ton P&H Lattice-boom crane that was used to change screens in the Benification Plant where "reach" was the goal, not weight lifted.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Cheers and God bless,
    Malcolm.

Another great model video! Incredible detail on this model Caterpillar 5230 mining shovel! I assume the model was 3-D printed in a plastic material, but I couldn't tell for sure. Who is the model maker?
I've been collecting diecast construction & mining models for about 18 years, & I too, appreciate the makers, such as NZG & TWH (when TWH was still in business) & a few others, that have produced a higher standard of model details & function. I appreciate the time you take to make these great heavy equipment videos!

They are some very good models, i build some forestry countys in 1/32 scale, highlanders etc, i enjoy making them, a welcome distraction from a busy landscaping business

I got a 3d resin printer a couple years back now, epax x1, and the 2560*1440 resolution screen was well enough to get details. I mainly print 28-32mm models, and the surface finish is smooth enough that the only sanding needed is on supports. I used to buy a ton of model figures, and now that's switched entirely over to buying a 3d file online if I feel like something is particularly cool.
I'm surprised a fdm printer is able to get such fine layers, whoever printed that excavator really dialed their printer in to get it that fine. I'm curious about the hoses and railings, do you think those were printed as well?

MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼………………………………………………………………..My sister worked as an Accountant for a coal/trucking company back in the late 70’s and 80’s. She has about 10 models like the ones you have, all metal, sales models. She got them from the salesmen that would come to the office and bring the models to show the owner what he would get if he bought the real machine. This was pre internet, so models were the best a salesmen could do to try to get a sale. My sister would tell the salesmen and Bill ( the business owner ) that they had to give HER the models if Bill bought the machine. If they didn’t, she wouldn’t write the check to pay for the machine!! LOL ONE salesman didn’t follow through, 6 months later, he showed up with the model and my sister wrote the check for the machine! Bill kept telling the Cat dealer that they would get paid when the salesman fulfilled the rest of the deal they had made! LOL !

Massive ammount of time to make a model of this scale and quality.. No easy task at all.. I own several 3d printers, and even after years of experience I wouldnt attempt somthing like that.. Actually I wouldnt even print all the parts if they were made by sombody else.. The hassle of getting all those to sucessfully work on a 3d printer is huge..
