Olive wood bowl for a client

A second Olive wood bowl for a customer who wants to give 2 daughters who are sad the tree was removed. I rough turned this and another bowl recently. Both are drying outside in the sun cracks developing daily. After they dry I will be applying epoxy to fill cracks and voids. Thanks for watching my videos. I do really appreciate the time

@@darrenswoodworks8695 absolutely! It’s either going to be the Powermatic like yours or the Robust American Beauty. I’ve been using cheaper models for a few years now, I need to start investing in the better stuff soon!

I’ve not seen the that robust lathe in person. But I do think they are spectacular lathes. A friend had a smaller robust that could be used to sit down. It was a beautiful piece of work.

Anything Olive looks great! Hard to tell from a video but it looks to me that you would do better to stand on a platform that would bring your elbow up to center height!

Thank you Cracker Jack. Yes you are correct about the platform. I had one. It got tossed away. And I have the machine on casters. Makes it 4” higher.

I’ve wondered if wood from other places if different than what’s grown near me. I trim and remove trees for a living and find or cut all my wood locally. Just glad I have a huge variety of wood.
