Man I hope you’re right. Metroid has always been such an up and down series. But yeah, Dread leading into this awesome remake gives me a bit of hope… But Nintendo always has treated Metroid oddly (and for good reason as it, strangely, never has sold all that well).

Videos like these are such a historical treasure. Thank you for sharing with the rest of us man.
I was too young and too poor to afford consoles when these games came out.
My first experience with the franchise came later, when I was in a hospital for a month and a friend gave me his GBA along with Zero Mission. That game left such a powerful impression on me, there was just nothing like it. Since then it’s become my most beloved franchise and takes me back to the same feelings of awe, fear and wonder I had as a kid playing it.
Being able to experience the Fusion and Prime on day-one now is such a magical feeling and takes me back to the days when I was dreaming about having these games.

I remember being 15 years old, I made enough money to buy my first console with my own money, the Gamecube Metroid edition with Metroid prime. I had enough money for the console, but not for the memory card. So I played the first few areas of the game so many times that I even lost account. Beautiful memories linked to this game and to this console in general.

I was 14yo when this game came out and I asked my father to buy me this game for Christmas 2002, but he said get the f**k out and I had to work after school in a tennis courtyard to save the money. Luckily my high school director allowed me leave early from school to go to work and I was able to save the money and get it on the release date. That was my best Christmas ever and I played Metroid Prime for more than 3 years always trying to find new things and translating the lore to Spanish to understand it.
That was the first time I worked to get something I really wanted and I'm very happy it was because of this awesome game.

My first memories of the metroid franchise were spent wandering around confused while playing super metroid as a 5 year old. So when metroid prime was just coming out in 2002, I initially didn't have a good impression of the series, but I decided to try it out when I saw the game playing in a kiosk. I was honestly so blown away, and that experience made me want a gamecube ever since which I did eventually get for christmas that year

I bought both games on the day they came out and I had never played a single Metroid game up to that point. My parents wouldn't buy me video game stuff for christmas, but I would use christmas and birthday money on games throughout the year, I think I also got Resident Evil (I remember calling the EB games at 13 and asking them to hold me a copy when I got home from school cause I was worried it would sell out), Resident Evil 0, Animal Crossing, Eternal Darkness, Time Splitters 2, and Starfox Adventures all on release day. I ended up finishing Metroid Fusion first and I loved that game. I was stuck in Metroid Prime for awhile until I finally decided to power through and beat it, and I like it more every time I've played it since.

By 2002 I had to buy my own games, seeing how I was out of College and all. I bought my first new car that year - and also Mentrod Prime (and Fusion)! Both were great. I did have an Aunt and Uncle though who, like yours, always seemed to send the best Christmas presents. I'm not sure how they did it - I never asked them for stuff. They gave me my first Transformers toys, before it even got big. The year I got an NES as a total surprise, they sent an NES game - Bionic Commnado, which is a total banger! They later sent me Mega Man 2 - a stone classic, right. The original Metroid was actually a game I bought with a little Christmas money I got that year and Metroid has been probably my favorite game series ever since.

As soon as heard of this news I scrambled to buy a Gameboy sp, metroid classic, zero mission and fusion. And boy what a treat! The games were phenomenal and brought me back to my youth!
As for the Prime series I did know about them when they released but the thought of a 3d metroid didn't really Excite me at the time. Fast forward 20 years and Nintendo peaked my interest. The entire Metroid Prime trilogy is very special to me, but the original completely blew my mind as a teenager having been a long time fan of the franchise. I grew up playing Metroid Fusion on the GBA SP & it's still to this day one of my favorite games to replay. Finally got to play Metroid Prime for the very first time thanks to the remastered version & been having a blast.. thanks for sharing 🔥

I got the game premiere week and for several weeks (months?) I only played that game. A masterpiece.

You made my day, I haven't got to play this Metroid Prime or Fusion, but I got to play Metroid Prime Hunters demo thanks to a very good friend of mine. I'm going through a friend breakup that really hasn't been easy to overcome and then even I stopped a very important personal project, thank you very much for sharing this memories. Take care.

This is my first time seeing this channel, and I really loved this. There's something so genuine about these kinds of self reflective videos. They're like small time capsules of our lives, especially when you can look back on home videos - something we take for granted from our parents sometimes. Looking back at the movies, games, etc. that we grow up with helps give us context for how far we've come. That's something really special.

I remember getting Fusion closer to Thanksgiving and playing it a lot when I was home from college that weekend. Still love that game.

Great video, this brought back some good memories of Christmas 2002 for me. Just like you I got both Prime and Fusion that year, along with Resident Evil remake and Resident Evil 0; I was ecstatic because rarely ever did I get that many games at one time, that was a big haul for me. I remember at the time how the entire video game world was unsure of how Metroid going from 2D to 3D would fare. I know a lot of people were nervous or doubtful it could be done and keep the same magic. Man did they ever deliver with Prime though. The music, the graphics, the gameplay, still top notch after all these years. Thanks for the great video!

Tyler, no kidding a Metroid Prime remaster commercial cam on in the middle of this Episode. So so fitting I let it play out. 😉

Didn't get either game as presents. Fortunately, I was in a position to purchase both independently. What an amazing period.

Metroid will always have a special place in my heart. To me, it was the first title I ever played that felt “mature”. It was creepy, it was scary, it was intense, it was captivating. Super Metroid took it to 11. So when the series went dark, we all were left a little confused. Then in 2002, we got the double dose. I was stoked on both these releases (though I was the only person I knew that bought Metroid Fusion).
I don’t think we will ever see this kind of duel release again. Publishers are just to concerned with cannibalizing sales to do that sort of thing now. Truly a once in a lifetime moment.

Playing Fusion on NSO for the first time and it’s great so far. I had no idea that Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion were released on the same day, can’t imagine Nintendo doing something like that again! I had Metroid Prime on the GameCube as a kid but never got around to beating it. I now have the remaster on switch and cannot wait to play through it! Thanks for sharing your memories with these games.

Just in time! I'm about to fire up the remaster on the switch right now. Also, in the digital age, gifting people games just isn't the same anymore. You can gift hardware but kids don't even want to get up and switch out the disc out of their console to play a different game. Oh well. We will all live vicariously through your childhood memories! Appreciate the time you put into these vids, man! Keep up the great work!

I remember getting Super Metroid on christmas morning 1995 and it was the first Metroid game I've ever played, I love the game so much! And for years I wanted a new Metroid game to come out so when I finally got Metroid Fusion on christmas morning 2002 it was one of the best christmases I ever had
