  • South Asian Students in Canada are faced with perilous circumstances ranging from housing affordability, to job insecurity, to challenges with fitting in. But one of the more unspoken struggles for some female students is a growing trend of sexual abuse and harassment from men in their own communities.
These are landlords, business owners, professors, and peers that are taking advantage of vulnerable young women who have nowhere to turn.
In this documentary, produced by Kahani Pictures partnership Punjabi Community Health Services, we expose the reality of these women by talking to survivors, councillors, and advocates for change.
The full documentary will be releasing soon so subscribe to ‪@kahanipictures‬ to stay in the loop.

Looks like a topic all Canadians should be aware of. Thanks for sharing and look forward to the full film.

When is this coming out and where can we see it? I saw somewhere that it'll be broadcasted in Surrey, but not sure if this is going to be broadcasted in other parts of Canada (e.g. Toronto).

Hi Philip, we'll be launching it in the next few weeks here on TH-cam so subscribe and turn on notifications to be alerted. We'll hopefully be doing more in-person screenings in future too. It's worth signing up to our newsletter for those updates: www.kahani.ca/listen

Imagine how much worse off they are back in their own country of origin.

They are much better off at home. They come here for an imaginary lifestyle which is a trap, most of the exploitation is from Canadians - we should own up to our own faults.

So grant them citizenship and all the problems go away! Snapity snap, a proactive and fair solution, is that the outcome, how illogical is that. Stop brining them over, only bring students who are: 7.5/8/7.5 of IElTs, who are joining universities and high end colleges, are critical to the future of Canadian infrastructure:STEM. Not instant citizenship pathways.
