Until 2020 (pandemic), most lifelong Canadians would have proudly & quickly said Canada is a great place. For multiple generations (young & old). It still is in many ways. But like all countries, a bunch of things have made life more difficult lately.
During the COVID lockdowns, many people went wild wanting to buy a house (urban & rural). Increasing demand and rising prices. Not long after, inflation caused mortgage rates especially to rise. Rent costs soared too.
People interested in working in hospitals declined. Less doctors etc..
Simultaneously in Canada, the number of people coming by air, land and boat to claim asylum skyrocketed. For example, in 2023 alone, in just one region (Central Canada) around 400 people arrived per day (on average). Ditto for other populated provinces. Also the number of international students SKYROCKETED too. In 2023, averaging around 2,000 per day across Canada. Years 2021 and 2022 had high #s too.
Hospitals hit with many wanting free healthcare. Less doctors/nurses etc., means greater waiting times.
A severe housing crisis has occurred in many western countries including in Canada. In ways not seen in people's lifetimes.
The majority trying to migrate to Canada recently have been from South Asia. And it's become extremely obvious to Canadians. Even those that are very used to much diversity & many cultures. Plus neighborhoods now know that international students are primarily using schooling as a 'back door' ticket to come to Canada for permanent residency. No one says it in public amongst strangers, but everyone knows because they've witnessed the extreme PR frenzy firsthand by now. To many Canadians it has felt like a tidal wave that has reached all cities and small towns, with a post secondary school. This extreme situation NEVER existed prior to 4 years ago.
Now westerners want the money greedy agents (pseudo smugglers) in other countries to stop marketing & LYING to their own people about access to PR or citizenship … or accommodation/jobs … being easy (to get). And for any greedy people living in western countries to be ashamed of themselves if they're hurting students. Anyone doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires or desperation. At best, there is a 25% chance of gaining PR (better odds if you are masters/medicine etc.).
Not all players across the board have acted honestly over the years, i.e. false asylum claims, contract marriages (IELTS spouse), anchor babies, fraud. Canada has asked the India government to prevent “ghost consulting”. The PRIVATE (non-public) colleges are especially being investigated (including looking for strong oversea ties).
Canadians are meeting students who told Canada they have enough $, but it turns out they borrowed it (some borrowed it for the application process only). Canadian food banks and other CHARITY services have been recklessly advertised on TH-cam (by India students in Indian language). Many transit services have launched stricter rules, i.e. lost monthly bus passes registered in your name are now never replaced (unlike before).
Then this year throw in all the Palestinian vs Israeli angry protests happening regularly in cities. Plus the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortion mostly happening in Ontario and British Columbia. Plus the Canadian government also recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Hate crimes have gone from rare to occasional (primarily South Asians against South Asians).
Canadians are so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now VERY worried and fearful (due to all of the above). And all are praying it doesn't turn into great anger (like in the USA).
Canadians want multi-culturism to succeed … and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is very happy with Canada Immigration's recent changes (reductions & investigations). Including multi-generational long-term Asian-Canadians where many have been the most upset (by all of this).

@@mariadavis3797 That's definitely a problem with Indian videos - people speak both languages and especially while surfing the internet they tend to use English but in conversations it is native. But to help you out a bit:
He is discussing Emigration as the title suggests and below are the reasons for emigration from his experience:
      1. Initially people emigrating were older (around 60 years old) since they could survive better on the pension that the government of Canada provides in their home country, let's say India, where the cost of living is almost 5 times lower.
      2. Recently, too many people, especially from India, have migrated to Canada, mainly students. Therefore, there are no part-time or even full-time jobs owing to increased competition.
      3. Since students are not getting any jobs, people have now resorted to illegal means of work thereby increasing robbery and theft, which are on an exponential rise in Canada.
      4. Drugs are a major issue in Canada and the government is hardly doing anything to control it. If anything they are encouraging drug use.
      5. Emigration among young people (20 - 35 years old) will increase in the coming years since people are finding it hard to live in Canada. The country is in a worse shape than ever.
      6. If someone is still planning on coming to Canada then they should be skilled in a high-demand occupation like medicine, agriculture, etc to have a survival chance. Also, not to forget the taxes, which are extremely high in Canada.
      7. He ends the video by giving an example of a family which left because their household income was too low - around 60K. The breadwinner of the family was in finance/accounting.

While immigration means for an individual or a family to move to a new country from their country of origin with due formalities at the embassy, the word migration denotes the act of moving from one place to another - within a country or across borders, for people or birds, and usually refers not to a single individual or family but a a larger demographic. Hope it helps

I lived there for four months and returned to India in December 2022 itself. Life in Canada was not as I had imagined while living in India. I used to envision Canada much differently, as Mr. Patel portray it, with clubbing, parties, outings, and so on. However, I encountered loneliness, depression, minimal social life, high taxes, and extremely cold weather (sometimes as low as -40 degrees Celsius). First of all... very good video. Liked and subscribed.
Here is what I think (in-line with what you're saying):
    1. Unemployable south Asian youth coming in hoards due to poor government policy (or lack of) . This definitely has exploded the housing cost.
    2. They got fooled by influencer videos on social media and didn't realize that Canada is hard work.
    3. Global slow down of economy
As a person of Indian origin having lived in India and Canada almost equally, I can assure you things get better over time. The first 3-4 fours might be a struggle. Upgrade your skills, learn to speak better English (or French), go to networking events and be prepared to hustle.
I would get a lot of flak for saying this, life in Canada is still 100x better than life in India. Sure cost of labour is cheap in India and you can afford to be lazy but if nothing else kills you in India, pollution will. I travel to India one or two times per year (for work) and I know the ground reality there. If being lazy is your objective (saw one video where this "influencer" complained about having to make IKEA furniture) India is the best place. For everything else, hustle and make it work in Canada.
Last advice ... try to live outside of communal hubs like Brampton and Surrey.

Also maybe canada should implement stronger laws to insure local citizens and pr get preference. Like employer needs to apply to government to ensure there is real need for non resident. Students should also fall into this category. I swear so many toxic "managers" in construction industry now that are literally brand new to canada and got job within months of arrival. They come for cheap and businesses have no problem hiring them.

Summary of the video - Wherever Indians go, runs that place down by tuning that place into mini-India. Indians watching the video and reading my comment can learn one good lesson - Do not turn any other country into India, if you love India so much, then stay in India. If you do migrate to another country, please integrate and learn their culture. That way, you would be an awesome citizen knowing how to adapt in both India and whichever country you're migrated to.

I had visited Australia. My relatives told me that sometimes they are fed up of Indians behaving like they do in India. the students speak loudly in trains, pass comments on girls in Hindi thinking that the others don't understand. It really creates a bad image of Indians in general. However these are few cases and with the number of students increasing these cases rise.

Here, let me present a long list for Indians to not make the move to Canada :
    - Isolating and Depressing - Everyone here is just busy working or studying. People barely have time for anyone at all. Even if you are struggling, you might still hear the response " I have work right now, I'll be there after".
-High Stress and Depression - Immigrants are constantly living under high stress conditions and fear of uncertainty. A lot of them are struggling with depression. Enough evidence to show that prolonged stress ages you, depresses you, makes you anxious, can give heart attacks and so much more.
    - Taxes and Income - Almost half of your salary goes to tax.
    - Travel - Everything is situated at a very long distance and you must drive for basic stuff in most cities.
    - Public Transit - In most cities public transit sucks real bad. In the city I live, the same distance takes 18 minutes on car but 1.25 hours on transit.
    - Weather - The weather stays bad for a longer time than good. Lack of sunlight can induce seasonal depression especially in brown population.
    - Economy - It's going through quite a bad phase, I guess everyone knows about this by now.
    - Drug Addict Dangers - There is a whole population of homeless drug addicts in almost every part of town who can be quite dangerous and aggressive.
    - Cold and Dull - Everything is just cold, sterile and dull. There is no liveliness like in India. Streets are just empty and silent, everyone is cooped up in their homes and cars.
    - Laws - Laws are not exactly favorable for immigrants.
    - Healthcare - It is horrible. Lack of medical staff, high expenses, very very high wait times, and terrible emergency response. People have to wait in emergency rooms for hours.
    - Feeling like an outsider - No matter how well you integrate the feeling of an outsider is there. The feeling of belonging is not there.
    - Staying away from family and friends - Not being able to help them in their time of need or their inability in helping you. Missing out on all the best moments.
    - Lack of business opportunity - India is a developing nation with such a high population, it has great scope for big business.
    - Everyone is struggling - You meet people who are living here for years and yet struggling all the time which leaves you with a sense of a bleak future. When does the struggle end? I think people here just accept their fate of becoming a machine.
    - Housing - There is an ongoing housing crisis. Incredibly difficult to buy a home and pay the mortgage for a lifetime.
    - Retirement - In the end you are left alone in an empty house where you have to make plans to meet up with your own family. I've met old people working in factories in their 60s saying I'll anyway end up in an old age home. Sad.
    - Parents - Even if you do bring your parents with you, I've seen and talked to many parents who just want to leave. There is a reason the parents call it a "Meethi Jail". They are unable to adjust.
    - Racism - The racism in Canada is very subtle but be rest assured that the dinner table conversations make sure that the immigrants are to be blamed for a lot of the troubles. Also, the general image of Indians has deteriorated on the Internet lately.
    - Purposeless Students - Indian students are mass migrating with no clear purpose. They are leaving their good privileged lives to struggle for basic stuff. The exact opposite of what they set out to get. So once they get their PRs they have no reason left to endure so much struggle.
I am saying this even though I have never been depressed and have always been optimistic here. Just imagine.

In 2004 I wrote a somewhat famous article called 'Top 8 reasons not to immigrate to Canada'. In short, the Canadian authorities tried to destroy my life. They made it so that I could not be employable in Canada. So I moved to the U.S. in 2005 and then some years later I moved permanently to the Philippines. I am happy that so many years later videos like yours are saying essentially the same things that I did. I was ahead of my time. I will never go back to Canada. Not to live, not to visit, not even a connecting flight. Too cold, too expensive, taxes are astronomical, no culture, no freedom, no jobs, no opportunities, only modern slavery, worst healthcare system, unbearable political correctness, crime infested/drug infested, xenophobic people, too depressing. It has become a North Korea style dictatorship in the western world.
Their are many reasons why Canada has fallen apart. But the number one reason is ‘multiculturalism’. My friends, multiculturalism simply does not work. Different cultures do not come together and mix, different cultures come together and clash. The world is divided into different countries for a reason: because people hate each other and only want to be with their own kind. The number two reason for Canada’s demise is ‘socialism’. In this modern era of aging populations, it is mathematically impossible for socialism to continue. The government does not have the money to take care of old people and provide healthcare, pensions and the various other benefits, even with the astronomical taxation that burdens hard working Canucks. Well Canada, you had a good run. Time for Canucks to move to an emerging country. We welcome you here in Southeast Asia.

Pls understand that student visa is only to study and not to work full time during the course or settle here as immigrant. Half of the people who cannot match to get PR took student visa to enter Canada and thats where the problem began.

    Patel bhai,shu vaat che.
Nice video and thanks for sharing the facts.
I came to Canada for studies in 2000 and moved back to India in 2007. I lived in Vancouver and then moved to Montreal.
Even in 2002-2003, it was hard to get a job in Canada in your field. Luckily enough I got a job in Montreal in my field and had some of the best times in my life.
Vancouver had a lot of Indians in 2000s but had lot less buildings and Montreal had very few Indians.
Canada is not the place to make millions. It’s a place to sit back and live a laid back life. It’s sad to see what has become of this beautiful country.
I moved back even though I had a 80K US job offer in 2007.
Now 17 years later, I own multiple companies in India and they are globally renowned.
I came back coz I was the only son and also what I planned on doing, very few companies in India were doing it.
Do I regret coming back… Absolutely not! Would I have been able to create these companies in Canada- I don’t think so.

100% truth. I am in BC and I have seen many many Indian students struggling . Many of the students are in the business learning route which is the easiest way to student route to PR.Some of the students from India are trying second postgrad after taking hefty educational loan. Now trapped because don’t have a good job opportunity and cannot go back home without paying back the loan. Last 2 years the intake was alarming . One DLI institution admitted 1200 students in one year 300 every 3 month all from India. Almost all of them are now on survival jobs. (Mostly security, fast food , late night sorter on warehouse ) . I came to Canada in 2013 as a student and I have struggled a bit to get my first job and luckily got settled . To be honest, this is the first time i have seen condition like this in last 10 years. Jobs for immigrant students were scarce even that time but now it’s pathetic. As he currently summarise , it’s all depends on what you want / your expectations.

At 7:23 you make a great point. I have been living in Canada since 1985 and I was close to the Indian community at that time. Indians in 1985 knew how to respect the rules and regulations of this country. The last 10-15 years, I have noticed a stark reversal. They have absolutely now regards to 'Canadian' vibe or rules and etiquette. They bring most of their bad habits from back home and implement them here and absolutely don't care. I am not saying all are like that, but I can confidently say that a vast majority of them are.

Would not advise anyone to come here unless you have loads of money to burn!

  • @zshn
    @zshn 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Indian mindset is also wrong. They come here with the idea of getting a survival job and somehow surviving. WHY! If you don't get a decent & equivalent job that offers same or atleast similar lifestyle back in home country WHY would you take that job?! Lot of high skilled workers wasting their young years doing unskilled work and struggling. If you can't find a job in your field in 6 months, leave because you won't find a job in your field in 2 or 10 years. I think for TEER 0 & 1, minimum CLB score should be CLB 9. And no shade to my brothers, but please stop taking just Punjabis in the name of Indians. There are so many already, it looks like mini Punjab here anywhere you go.

I am one of the people leaving Canada. I will travel back to India in April 2024 after my stay here in Montreal for 3 years. Reason: my career growth is not as I expected and cost is increasing exponentially, if I get a 15-20 lakh package in India, I can save the same amout of money what I am saving her and the second reason is food, I am a vegetarian and I cannot have a good food outside unless I cook myself, food is a small part of the reason but clearly influenced my decision. If things change and if I feel it was better here in Canada,
I can always come back to Canada

Here is how much salary you need to live middle class life in Ontario,& BC: 100k for primary income earner, add 50k for each adult dependent and 30k for each child dependent.
So if you are a family of 3 (2 adults and 1 child), then you need a salary of at least 180k per year.
Taxes will automatically take away 33%, so net pay will be 120k i.e. 10k/month.
2 BHK Rent is AVERAGE 3k in ON & BC, so you are left with 7k/month.
If you pay more than 30% of your income to rent, you'll be living paycheck to paycheck. You'll not be able to save and the inflation will outpace you, doesn't matter even if both adults work.
Landlords, government, companies all know what the rent is and they pay double the rent to keep you chained. You need to make 4 times the average rent to live the same life in India.

Average pension and old age is $1200 combined per person per month, give or take few $ depending on persons situation. If you don't own a home or you have a mortgage on your home then you won't be able to survive in Canada. Let's calculate two people husband and wife are retired and they want to rent the house. Rent $ 2000, Car insurance $ 300, Car gas $ 200, Utilities $ 200, Cell phone $ 100, Food cost $ 400, Internet $ 100. Forget about eating out or going to restaurant. Total monthly pension $2400 total monthly expense $3300. all these calculations are basic and on conservative side. There are lot more expenses like clothing, maintenance etc. It is extremely hard to retire in Canada if you don't have lot of savings or paid off house or $$$ earning business.
