I'll do this. I'm tired of skating through a level in about an hour and then spend 2 days beating a boss. The centipede was easy, but most of the others are insane.

Seeing as this effect has worked similarly since the test versions, I'm thinking Team Ninja is offering this to players who would rather not or cannot summon people for help if a boss is giving them a super-hard time. Consider it like their difficulty option, which you only get once you've really understood the game and already fought some bosses. Keep in mind, you cannot use this to first fight Hino-Enma because this is only acquired in the 2nd region, AFTER you've already beaten this boss. IMO, if you've killed this boss without any such aid, you've earned the right to have the option to soften the rest of them IF you want. This, just like many other things in the game, are quite genius if you really think about it. It's a tool - you can choose to use it or not. I for one would only use it if I spend many hours fighting a boss without any luck because my game time is extremely limited (a few hours a day, if I'm lucky).
Considering everything it makes some of the bosses actually doable, because i went through the entire game of Nioh without using the sloth talisman once and it was painful to do especially since i just used an Axe. After using the sloth talisman it was like being a god compared to most of the Yokai, though after i beat the game i started using it and was forced to use it with ninjutsu and Onmyo for some of the side missions and bosses and it basically made them doable.

P.S spears rule,, so far,, still in second region
I love how the comments are full of "nerf incoming in 3,2,1..." Here we are now, 3 years later with Nioh 2 coming out, and this was never nerfed/patched :)
DLC content was introduced being harder (by bosses being resistant to sloth, for one). Sloth, itself, was never nerfed - like so many people here confidently predicted.....

Of course, on your first playthrough, by the time you get Sloth you will have had to fight this boss already. I agree, though, that some of the magic talismans are crazy powerful in this game, giving you a massive advantage.
This is a great strategy but if you're facing her for the first time you can't do this cause accessing sloth requires you having cleared certain missions and you can't do other missions till you beat this one.

I was even using ochoko cups and the players didn't help much. You helped me finish bloodborne too. This seems to follow the Dark Souls design principle of letting users modify difficulty in-game they discussed over at “Extra Credits.” I’ve actually noticed for awhile that one of the chief motivations for grinding in any of these types of games is the reward of lower difficulty. Games are more fun when they aren’t hard, but it isn’t fun if you don’t have to work to make them easy - I think that’s one of the chief psychological motivations for playing a game on higher difficulty - you feel you’ve accomplished more when it finally becomes easy, and you have to access more of the game mechanics to obtain the desired difficulty.
Hino-Emma killed me like twice. She was kind of easy but that first boss on the boat was insane to me, I could never find a opening without getting hit. but I past him somehow.
I killed her in my second try too even though the first time, 30 seconds into the fight she like riposted me and one shot me so I thought I was gonna get my ass handed to me for a while
Cameron Bailey the guard blocks so many of both of their attacks and trivializes them as well. you can just block her paralysis spell for minimal damage taken. she's so easy. and you can block his whirly balls. his stage 2 is as easy as dodge behind him.

Bloodborne and Dark Souls have trained me well lol 😂 Is there much point soul forging early on or am I just better off equipping newer gear? Trying to do a Dex, Magic build but think I may have spread my stat's a little thin to meet gear reqs for armour.
@@davosan6782 Well early i just went with changing gear but if you want to 100% the game later with the endgame stuff (trying not to spoil anything) you WILL need maxed out soulforged gear to atleast have a chance. Or you can just go and cheese with talismans and spirits xD . I have to admit i have done that in a few missions in endgame that went beyond my patience even as an avid hardcore gamer :D Basically the game fked me over like 200+ times and i just had to fking cheese. Not proud of if but it was still a challange to 100% it so i let it slide xD. Magic is pretty strong early game so i think you are fine with weapon swapping for a while. Btw this game goes above and beyond with stuff to do in NG+. Its not just a" go and repeat everything a bit harder". Sooo yea i hope you'll see and have time to do everything before Nioh 2 :D.

Hi, I'm new to this game, can you tell me what is the meaning of the icon that appeared under the Ki bar in 1:28 ? I notice this a lot when I play but couldn't figure out what it does, thanks!
When you do a Ki Pulse (pressing the R1 button after an attack) you will create some sparks around you and that will destroy Yokai Pollution (which is the black thing in the floor that demons create to stop you stamina or Ki regeneration) and that little symbol means that you have completed a Ki pulse and that your stamina will regenerate faster during the period that the little icon remains active, which is about like 2 seconds.
I'm getting ready to start the third and final DLC and I never used any magic and only a little bit of ninja. This game got really hard for me after doing the first two DLCs because the difficulty gets brutal imo. Biggest problem I have with this game is for some reason all the other humans have about 50 times more health and can 2 shot me all while having unlimited living weapon. There is absolutely no reason the human enemies should be that much stronger than me. I really enjoy this game and it feels good when I beat a difficult boss but I think it's BS that the difficulty primarily comes from health and damage output being heavily unbalanced. I get that some of the Yokai should have a lot of Health but there's no reason that humans (bosses) should have as much as they do.
I used a spear against this boss first time round. The range it provided was a godsend. Now sloth is so damn OP, but I fucking love it, though it does feel a bit cheesy.
You don't need a glitch to farm amrita, you just need to find the correct guardian spirit that boosts it, and wear all 5 pieces of armor that gives a crap ton of amrita. There's a guardian spirit that gives you 25 amrita on a strong attack, so what weapon lets you hit rapidly from a strong attack? There's a onmyu buff that lets you earn amrita per hit too, and that's achievable earlier in the game than the guardian spirit.

Muneshige Tachibana boss fight definitely needs this because its ridiculously cheap. He's super fast and has some glitchy stamina that lets him do ridiculous amounts of chain attacks while his stamina is in the red
yeastori He's not cheap, he's overaggressive and wears out quickly. Just strike him once when he's in the red. This will stagger him, and give you an opening for a grapple attack.
Consider him a skill check. Like others have said, you just need to let him get low on ki and then you move in. Still, his infinite ki does feel like bullshit at 1st.
well if it still not patched maybe I give it a go, cuz I slayed the 1st demon boss on that boat on the 19th try :-D It was god damn pain in the arse in that small room and with those balls of his that he then htrows at you :(

Yep if I get killed about 10 times to a boss I am like out comes sloth and even worse as well hit them with life seal so they cannot regenerate there ki and they just lay on the floor and can't get up I am totally with you how did this get past the checks it should only effect a boss for like 3 seconds or none at all
I wouldn't use this for any of the bosses, but I will definitely use this for that bullshit mission Kuroda's Determination. Literally the hardest thing in the game so far, because it makes you fight two Raven Tengu yokai at the same time and an Onryoki afterwords.
Late comment but sloth's duration is ridiculously low for a lot bosses. DLC bosses especially, it lasts like 3 seconds against some of them, not even worth using.
This and the blinding bomb from the ninjutsu tech tree, blind the boss and it can only attack in its line of sight allowing you to get behind it easily. You still have to dodge attacks but takes half the effort out, couldn't believe it works on bosses

@@boesboesnl2695 Ah okay without spoiling too much there are 5 difficulties. Let's just say enemies will become "phantoms" so certain things won't work on them anymore or nowhere near be as effective. With the right knowledge you can be more than a few hundred levels below mission requirements and still be pretty powerful. Pro tip no use in grinding till you hit the 3rd play through. A set to go for is the the hyabusa set will become available in one of the dlc's try to get all of it in the first run and farm for a yasakani magatama in your second run. Have fun and put your skill point into dex, skill, 20 points into body and heart then keep putting points into skill and dex. Then if you prefer the kusa more put more points into heart. If you like using a sword then put the point into heart.

I like helping people out though and a good way too grind some more xp. But by your story, it's not good too farm xp now? I know that when i proceed further solo i gain way more xp then coop the stuff i just cleared. And for the build; i love the 'single' swords, so i got like 60 points into heart. At least I got to farm purple armor off a level 24 revenant that somehow died right in front of the third shrine of the first level lol. Set armor too hahah. It's not autowin but it did take the edge off those damn Yokai.
Jacob Kern not really. sloth has only a few uses and mages dont have that many ranged attacks. it really is just used for buffs and debuffs with weapon enchantments
It also works differently. A DS mage could nuke certain bosses from across the arena without taking a step. Ninjitsu really only lets you soften enemies up before needing to close in and mop up. Unless you've overleveled, obviously.
just as the others mentioned, spells are not like they were in dark souls. They cannot win you the battle by themselves, with sloth as the exception.(expect a nerf)
I got VERY upset on that boss, and it didn't even take me that many attempts (4), but still this was one of THE WORST bosses I've ever encountered on any game ever and nearly made me quit Nioh straight away, specially after every pitfall bat trap on that fucking level. I wish I saw this before beating her, but you can still also cheese her by constantly running away and headshoting her + the paralysis resistance perk.
Lightning does the same thing and the game makes you use this in a training mission its in the game for a reason. I could see them cutting it to 1 or it only works say at 75% speed on bosses.
You only get 2, so if your dps is about what it should be for the boss, then it will only make a section of the fight easier. With the the damage he was doing to her, he could have blitzed her in three combos. Useful but not as much as it seems.
I subbed... This helped me beat the game, & i'm not even mad about it... Only question now is how do i farm up enough Glory / Gold to soulmatch all my gear to my characters level? taking something from 39 to 112 i mean.. costs me over 1mil gold.. how do you farm that much gold LOL?
It's limited because you only have 2 talismans. Most likely nerf will be the duration of the spell. That will make this feel like you've equipped another 2 living weapon opportunities.

@@kidrobot. you can have up to 6. They are definitely useful when you're fighting multiple enemies at once. Helps prioritize.

Shes easier if you pay attention to the vocal cues and watch her movements. You'll know when to dodge

why not pick up Nioh 2 instead? its more of the same but its improved upon and they even added more skills, weapons and armor and bosses ofcourse.

Sidenote: You MUST raise your magic up to at least 40. The lower your magic, the shorter the duration on Sloth.

This boss is basically Nioh's version of Ninja Gaidens Alma. She even sounds the same and virtually has the same attack patterns.

There's a onmyu buff that lets you earn amrita per hit too, and that's achievable earlier in the game than the guardian spirit.

The recent patch nerfed the extractment spell. Sloth and and Quick-Change are likely next.

Muneshige Tachibana boss fight definitely needs this because its ridiculously cheap. He's super fast and has some glitchy stamina that lets him do ridiculous amounts of chain attacks while his stamina is in the red
He's not really cheap if you have your fundamentals down. Flailing and panic dodging is going to get you killed against anything.
yeastori He's not cheap, he's overaggressive and wears out quickly. Just strike him once when he's in the red. This will stagger him, and give you an opening for a grapple attack.

Consider him a skill check. Like others have said, you just need to let him get low on ki and then you move in. Still, his infinite ki does feel like bullshit at 1st.
if you are a kusarigami user like me you can put muneshige and most humans on their ass repeatedly and smash them with a final blow. ;3

This is one video I did not want to see. I first read this talisman sloth from a comment. I did not know it was this ridiculous until I saw this video.
You don't get the Sloth Talisman before this boss fight so not really meant to use it on her, unless your just farming for equipment I suppose.

Yep if I get killed about 10 times to a boss I am like out comes sloth and even worse as well hit them with life seal so they cannot regenerate there ki and they just lay on the floor and can't get up I am totally with you how did this get past the checks it should only effect a boss for like 3 seconds or none at all

Then you pair sloth with the discord debuff from stacking 2 elemental effects at the same time and realize that bosses just means giant punching back.

I wouldn't use this for any of the bosses, but I will definitely use this for that bullshit mission Kuroda's Determination. Literally the hardest thing in the game so far, because it makes you fight two Raven Tengu yokai at the same time and an Onryoki afterwords.

It was only nerfed for NG++. Basically, Sloth is still just as OP as in this video for anyone who's not gonna finish NG and NG+. Lol.
Late comment but sloth's duration is ridiculously low for a lot bosses. DLC bosses especially, it lasts like 3 seconds against some of them, not even worth using.
If you combine that, the sloth talisman, with the weakness talisman then it's definitely even cheaper that just the sloth talisman alone lol

This and the blinding bomb from the ninjutsu tech tree, blind the boss and it can only attack in its line of sight allowing you to get behind it easily. You still have to dodge attacks but takes half the effort out, couldn't believe it works on bosses

@@boesboesnl2695 Ah okay without spoiling too much there are 5 difficulties. Let's just say enemies will become "phantoms" so certain things won't work on them anymore or nowhere near be as effective. With the right knowledge you can be more than a few hundred levels below mission requirements and still be pretty powerful. Pro tip no use in grinding till you hit the 3rd play through. A set to go for is the the hyabusa set will become available in one of the dlc's try to get all of it in the first run and farm for a yasakani magatama in your second run. Have fun and put your skill point into dex, skill, 20 points into body and heart then keep putting points into skill and dex. Then if you prefer the kusa more put more points into heart. If you like using a sword then put the point into heart.

I like helping people out though and a good way too grind some more xp. But by your story, it's not good too farm xp now? I know that when i proceed further solo i gain way more xp then coop the stuff i just cleared. And for the build; i love the 'single' swords, so i got like 60 points into heart. At least I got to farm purple armor off a level 24 revenant that somehow died right in front of the third shrine of the first level lol. Set armor too hahah. It's not autowin but it did take the edge off those damn Yokai.

I just threw my uchigatana from a distance and kept doing that, never allowing her to get close to me, but this seems even better 💯
They don't necessarily need to remove this skill from the game, a reasonable "nerf" would be to decrease the duration of sloth, instead.

Jacob Kern not really. sloth has only a few uses and mages dont have that many ranged attacks. it really is just used for buffs and debuffs with weapon enchantments
It also works differently. A DS mage could nuke certain bosses from across the arena without taking a step. Ninjitsu really only lets you soften enemies up before needing to close in and mop up. Unless you've overleveled, obviously.
just as the others mentioned, spells are not like they were in dark souls. They cannot win you the battle by themselves, with sloth as the exception.(expect a nerf)
Pure mage is shit in this game. So no.
I got VERY upset on that boss, and it didn't even take me that many attempts (4), but still this was one of THE WORST bosses I've ever encountered on any game ever and nearly made me quit Nioh straight away, specially after every pitfall bat trap on that fucking level. I wish I saw this before beating her, but you can still also cheese her by constantly running away and headshoting her + the paralysis resistance perk.

Lightning does the same thing and the game makes you use this in a training mission its in the game for a reason. I could see them cutting it to 1 or it only works say at 75% speed on bosses.
The irony is that you don't unlock sloth until a few levels AFTER you beat this boss on your first play through. She's a handful without sloth.
If you add lightning status on top of that talisman wouldn't that make the speed drop down by like 75%

You only get 2, so if your dps is about what it should be for the boss, then it will only make a section of the fight easier. With the the damage he was doing to her, he could have blitzed her in three combos. Useful but not as much as it seems.
I subbed... This helped me beat the game, & i'm not even mad about it...
Only question now is how do i farm up enough Glory / Gold to soulmatch all my gear to my characters level? taking something from 39 to 112 i mean.. costs me over 1mil gold.. how do you farm that much gold LOL?

It's limited because you only have 2 talismans. Most likely nerf will be the duration of the spell. That will make this feel like you've equipped another 2 living weapon opportunities.
The spell shouldn't affect bosses.
