I’m thoroughly impressed by the level of activity after just having a cesarean. I’ve had 3 major abdominal surgeries (cut exactly like a c section) and didn’t THINK of leaving the house for weeks. You’re up and OUT. Kudos
With csections if you don’t get out, you get stuck/stuff and it is agony to get up when you have to! So it’s easier to go around/walk and stay at a 5-7 level of pain then let yourself get stiff and then have intense moments at like a 10-11.

When my daughter was in the NICU I made a recording of singing, talking to her, reading books and me her dad and my mom were on it. The nurses would play it when I wasnt there. I hope you get to see this because it really helped me to know she could hear me when I couldn't be there.
Word of advise from a NICU mum ☺️ the day your babies come home film as much as you can and take as many pics. Even if you don't share it with the world it will definitely be a memory you will never forget, those videos for me are so amazing it's definitely a reminder of how far my daughter has come along 💖❤️

she answered this in a past video i think. she said that she’s going to do whatever her kids need when it’s that time. so if they seem to need homeschool she’ll do that, i don’t think she’s really set on anything yet! :)

There’s no way to know that yet. There are a few specific tests the babies have to pass before they can leave the NICU and it’s pretty rare for them to reach those milestones at the same exact time. Definitely possible though!
@@annikabangos2513 The thing is they literally can’t try to do that. They can certainly HOPE but it’s a matter of when each baby learns to eat on their own, they have to each pass a carseat test, they both have to hold their body temp without being bundled, etc. Almost no babies do ALL of these things at the exact same time. It’s very likely one will go home first with the other shortly after. It’s not impossible that they could reach every milestone together but also really not likely. Luckily they won’t remember this scary time in their lives!

Hi Colleen :) I am a speech language hearing student in Kansas right now and from what we have learned in classes the past 3 years about kids learning and developing different sounds, it looks like Flynn is so advanced, especially when he said "turtles" because that is a HARD word and he was correct with every sound! Usually that sound is expected to be mitered by like 5 or 6, and he is amazing at it!
yes i was just thinking this! i'm a freshman in highschool and i'm taking an early childhood course, and we are kinda learning like by ages. right now we are on 4-5 year olds, and the vocabulary is 3,000-5,000 words. but flynn is 2 and can talk pretty incredibly! he's gonna be one smart cookie as he gets into school!!!
Colleen, the applesauce actually makes sense. Breast milk is 90% + carbohydrate (glucose). It’s why when you tasted your breast milk you said it’s like cereal milk- very sweet. Fruit + potatoes are amazzzzzing for breast milk production because of this

Think she saves it. You can freeze breastmilk and take it in a cooler to the hospital. That's what my mom did with me when I was in the NICU for three months. She had a whole freezer on the back porch filled to the brim with milk for me, she would bring it in a little wheeled cooler to the hospital.
The Nicu nurses save it in their freezer 🥰 at least in nj when my baby was in the Nicu they said They weren’t allowed to donate the extra milk because there’s a whole special process.

If getting a nanny can help you be an even badder b* than you are now, then 100000% you should do it and do whatever will help you, Eric, Flynn, and the babies at this time. That was one of the saddest part of NICU life for me. My son didn’t get to meet his little sister until she came home because of the rules in our hospital. There was no admittance under 3 for visitors and he was only 21 months.
I’ve been watching colleen consistently for about 3 years now.. I don’t know how I even started now I can’t stop. There is something so comforting just watching her talk in her house? She gives me major big sister vibes and I love it 😭🤎

It’s the ADHD in full swing trying to keep the brain awake 😂 I do the same exact thing. I also do it when talking on the phone with my mom or my best friend(also has ADHD) and it’s the reason we can talk for hours after we’ve already said “I’ve gotta get goin” 😂
Tortilla talk question: why aren't Maisy and Wesley sleeping in the same bed at the NICU? I'm a NICU-nurse from Sweden, and here we put twins in the same bed (once they are not in an incubator anymore, or don't have any central catheters nor breathing machines such as CPAP). But if they have IV's or a nasal cannula that provides oxygen, we still put them in the same bed so they aren't separated from each other. I wonder why don't the NICU at the hospital you're at do the same? Is there any particular reason not to have them in the same bed? Just curious :) much love from Sweden ❤
Yeah, I feel a little sad every time I see them all alone in their beds! Being together is all they knew, and now they only get to touch when Colleen or Eric is holding them both 😭
Im in healthcare in the US and NICU babies are treated as individual patients regardless of their relationship with others. This means they get their own bed and equipment. Co-bedding (two babies in the same bed) is not the standard of care here. I think there is currently not a lot of research on the safety of co-bedding. Very interesting how different things are around the world.
Tortilla Talk: When naming the twins did you plan the “matching” names since his starts with a “W” and hers starts with an “M” and that both names end in a Y? Or was it just a cute coincidence?!
@@hannnahbear16 they considered both names before their birth however. The top names for the girl was Maisy, Alice, Penny and Millie. I think Maisy and Millie are the best but I’m a little biased 😂

they probably store the extra milk. in a deep freezer it can be saved for a year! 6 months in a regular freezer! the NICU probably has a deep freezer just for milk.

I don’t doubt that she’s a good mom but I am worried that she is nonstop filming her babies in the NICU, and the fact that she didn’t rush to the hospital as soon as her water broke (when the whole pregnancy was high risk) is really sketchy to me.
@@michaelalees9140 Colleen explained that she didn't rush to the hospital because she thought she'd have more time and didn't know about the cord prolapse, she did the same with her baby Flynn. Getting ready before going to the hospital for a baby is extremely common. Also keep in mind that the purpose of the vlog is not so much for us, but more-so for the memories for her to share with her babies when they get older. The amount of time that they spend in the NICU with the babies is far more time then the 2 minutes of it that she puts in the vlog. Hope this helps with your understanding of it 🥰
Colleen one of the best days when my daughter was in the NICU was when we went in to see her and there was no tubes or tape on her little face and I could finally see her and ALL of her beauty. It’s a moment I will never forget and it was nearly 30 years ago. One of those moments in life that I’ve never forgotten.

So just to answer your question a little bit they are di di twins which means that they aren't identical and sometimes when I see the babies I play a guessing game of who I think is who because when you look at Wesley's head it's like longer and kind of bigger than Maisy's also from the front his nose also looks a bit bigger then hers usually the times I mess up the guess is when they're like really from a side profile but yeah I'm curious if she gets them confused I doubt it tho

Tortilla talk: Have you ever considered donating milk since you produce so much? NICU babies benefit from it soo much! But of course it's your choice and totally fine if it's outside your comfort zone
Why would she donate milk when she has TWO newborns … that need the milk well until they are much older. Like over a year. I could see her donating milk if her babies didn’t need it.
Typically moms who produce an abundance of milk will build a frozen stockpile and when they’re comfortable with its size will then donate whatever remains after their baby(ies) are fed. It’s very admirable for those comfortable doing it. My Luna also a NICU baby survived on or was at least supplemented with donor milk for her first few days until I was finally able to settle from the trauma/stress of our birth story and get my own supply to come in. Forever grateful to those mamas for sharing that liquid gold ❤️

I recommend going to local independent book stores. There’s many of those once you search. I was surprised too haha! You can go anywhere of course. The reason why I stopped going to main bookstores like Barnes & noble is bc it’s taking business away from small independent bookstores. As a library worker libraries & independent bookstores are best compared to Amazon and Barnes & noble for authors, workers, & patrons.

When my little sister was born, she had an enlarged heart. We didn’t get to meet her for several weeks, but I assure you it was so special when we did

There’s no way to know that yet. There are a few specific tests the babies have to pass before they can leave the NICU and it’s pretty rare for them to reach those milestones at the same exact time. Definitely possible though!
I’m guessing (and really hoping) that they’ll try and let them out at the same time,, I’d feel terrible if the twinnies had to go without the other.

@@annikabangos2513 The thing is they literally can’t try to do that. They can certainly HOPE but it’s a matter of when each baby learns to eat on their own, they have to each pass a carseat test, they both have to hold their body temp without being bundled, etc. Almost no babies do ALL of these things at the exact same time. It’s very likely one will go home first with the other shortly after. It’s not impossible that they could reach every milestone together but also really not likely. Luckily they won’t remember this scary time in their lives!
Colleen has said many times Wes is stronger than Maisy, and drank out of the bottle first. I think Wes will get to leave first

Hi Colleen :) I am a speech language hearing student in Kansas right now and from what we have learned in classes the past 3 years about kids learning and developing different sounds, it looks like Flynn is so advanced, especially when he said "turtles" because that is a HARD word and he was correct with every sound! Usually that sound is expected to be mitered by like 5 or 6, and he is amazing at it!
yes i was just thinking this! i'm a freshman in highschool and i'm taking an early childhood course, and we are kinda learning like by ages. right now we are on 4-5 year olds, and the vocabulary is 3,000-5,000 words. but flynn is 2 and can talk pretty incredibly! he's gonna be one smart cookie as he gets into school!!!
Colleen, the applesauce actually makes sense. Breast milk is 90% + carbohydrate (glucose). It’s why when you tasted your breast milk you said it’s like cereal milk- very sweet. Fruit + potatoes are amazzzzzing for breast milk production because of this

That's a great question!
Think she saves it. You can freeze breastmilk and take it in a cooler to the hospital. That's what my mom did with me when I was in the NICU for three months. She had a whole freezer on the back porch filled to the brim with milk for me, she would bring it in a little wheeled cooler to the hospital.
The Nicu nurses save it in their freezer 🥰 at least in nj when my baby was in the Nicu they said They weren’t allowed to donate the extra milk because there’s a whole special process.

If people are making fun of you for getting a nanny/ babysitter when you work from home, just remember that they can’t understand your situation and everybody has different needs due to their personal situation. If getting a nanny can help you be an even badder b* than you are now, then 100000% you should do it and do whatever will help you, Eric, Flynn, and the babies at this time. tortilla talk: you should try one of those books where you record you reading it so the babies can listen to your voices when you’re not there. my brother was in the niq for about 3 months and we did a couple of those and he LOVED it!! he still listens to a couple of them 5 years later!

That was one of the saddest part of NICU life for me. My son didn’t get to meet his little sister until she came home because of the rules in our hospital. There was no admittance under 3 for visitors and he was only 21 months.
I’ve been watching colleen consistently for about 3 years now.. I don’t know how I even started now I can’t stop. There is something so comforting just watching her talk in her house? She gives me major big sister vibes and I love it 😭🤎

It’s the ADHD in full swing trying to keep the brain awake 😂 I do the same exact thing. I also do it when talking on the phone with my mom or my best friend(also has ADHD) and it’s the reason we can talk for hours after we’ve already said “I’ve gotta get goin” 😂

I'm a NICU-nurse from Sweden, and here we put twins in the same bed (once they are not in an incubator anymore, or don't have any central catheters nor breathing machines such as CPAP). But if they have IV's or a nasal cannula that provides oxygen, we still put them in the same bed so they aren't separated from each other. I wonder why don't the NICU at the hospital you're at do the same? Is there any particular reason not to have them in the same bed? Just curious :) much love from Sweden ❤
Yeah, I feel a little sad every time I see them all alone in their beds! Being together is all they knew, and now they only get to touch when Colleen or Eric is holding them both 😭

Im in healthcare in the US and NICU babies are treated as individual patients regardless of their relationship with others. This means they get their own bed and equipment. Co-bedding (two babies in the same bed) is not the standard of care here. I think there is currently not a lot of research on the safety of co-bedding. Very interesting how different things are around the world.

My guess is absolutely not considering they didn’t have either name picked out until three days after the babies were born hahaha
She said she didn’t want to match their names pretty early on.
@@hannnahbear16 they considered both names before their birth however. The top names for the girl was Maisy, Alice, Penny and Millie. I think Maisy and Millie are the best but I’m a little biased 😂

they probably store the extra milk. in a deep freezer it can be saved for a year! 6 months in a regular freezer! the NICU probably has a deep freezer just for milk.

Colleen is such a good mom, even after she just birthed twins she still takes the time to dance with Flynn
I don’t doubt that she’s a good mom but I am worried that she is nonstop filming her babies in the NICU, and the fact that she didn’t rush to the hospital as soon as her water broke (when the whole pregnancy was high risk) is really sketchy to me.
i wouldnt exactly call exploiting your children on youtube from the second they are born being a "good mom".

@@michaelalees9140 Colleen explained that she didn't rush to the hospital because she thought she'd have more time and didn't know about the cord prolapse, she did the same with her baby Flynn. Getting ready before going to the hospital for a baby is extremely common. Also keep in mind that the purpose of the vlog is not so much for us, but more-so for the memories for her to share with her babies when they get older. The amount of time that they spend in the NICU with the babies is far more time then the 2 minutes of it that she puts in the vlog. Hope this helps with your understanding of it 🥰

Colleen one of the best days when my daughter was in the NICU was when we went in to see her and there was no tubes or tape on her little face and I could finally see her and ALL of her beauty. It’s a moment I will never forget and it was nearly 30 years ago. One of those moments in life that I’ve never forgotten.

So just to answer your question a little bit they are di di twins which means that they aren't identical and sometimes when I see the babies I play a guessing game of who I think is who because when you look at Wesley's head it's like longer and kind of bigger than Maisy's also from the front his nose also looks a bit bigger then hers usually the times I mess up the guess is when they're like really from a side profile but yeah I'm curious if she gets them confused I doubt it tho

Why would she donate milk when she has TWO newborns … that need the milk well until they are much older. Like over a year. I could see her donating milk if her babies didn’t need it.

@pinkpossibly milk can be frozen for up to a year.
Typically moms who produce an abundance of milk will build a frozen stockpile and when they’re comfortable with its size will then donate whatever remains after their baby(ies) are fed. It’s very admirable for those comfortable doing it.
My Luna also a NICU baby survived on or was at least supplemented with donor milk for her first few days until I was finally able to settle from the trauma/stress of our birth story and get my own supply to come in. Forever grateful to those mamas for sharing that liquid gold ❤️

I recommend going to local independent book stores. There’s many of those once you search. I was surprised too haha! You can go anywhere of course. The reason why I stopped going to main bookstores like Barnes & noble is bc it’s taking business away from small independent bookstores. As a library worker libraries & independent bookstores are best compared to Amazon and Barnes & noble for authors, workers, & patrons.
