Brian did say that he attributed the riff on Tie Your Mother Down to Rory's influence. Brian mentioned him in one of his other interviews also, along with Jimi Hendricks as his early guitar heroes.
It WAS cool, how Brian May said he basically "got his sound" from RG and the treble booster tip!! Would Queen be the same band were it not for...? Probably, yeah, BUT...After this I went to check out the "Irish Tours" you mentioned. I was gonna sample like 10-15 min. to start with, just to get a better feel for him. After "Who's That Comin' " I decided to sacrifice sleep, and feasted on the footage for 45-55 or so! Stunningly good. AND his BAND, too! AND The CROWD! Just Apeshit, almost like a mosh pit at times! And then shots of him bein' "normal" in the guitar shop, etc. Killer musician, non Prima Donna--nice combo. Echoing what Page said about his singing, I just saw a quote from someone else: "Rory Gallagher was the best singer-guitarist I've ever seen." Who was that someone else? --Jimi Hendrix. Glad you dug the video. And I am now, without question, a convert!
I know, as humble as Rory is to have given a young Brian may his secret, it’s just as humble for Brian (being a much bigger name) to give Rory credit all them years later, when he just could of said he invented because majority of people don’t know Rory Gallagher, I’m glad you liked “Irish tours” and you’re right some of the best bits of Irish tours is seeing him going to guitar shops etc you really get a feel for the type of person he is. I love what Gary Moore said in this too, Rory making him feel like guitar is more than just playing an instrument, and that Rory made it feel like guitar was a calling and to have a true dedication to the instrument. @@Roryreacts Agreed. Especially like the "Equally Humble Brian May" bit--hadn't occured to me. I really dig it when super-talented/bigshot artists in whatever area gush like fanboys/girls over THEIR influences/heroes and shit, lol!
I'm gonna have to do some listening to Rory Gallagher , I just hooked up my projector and small Bose speakers for the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert , I'll have to watch some live Rory concert videos , you've peaked my interest in his playing.

I'm 73 now but I saw Rory thirteen times mostly in the 60's/70's with Taste then Rory's solo band....best gigs of my life. 🎸🎸 Like 111.
