There are lot of foreigners working in Maldives. As i am doing my degree in Tourism field, i have visited several resorts in Maldives. Foreigners are paid more when compare to Locals who works in resort. Many resorts give a lot of paid internship opportunities for foreign ppl.

I've been to Maldives a few times and planning to go again in the near future. Stayed in Meeru, Reethi, Gili Lankanfushi, Paradise Island and Baros. Yes it is expensive but this place is once in a lifetime. I went between February and March every time which was the drier months and the busiest although when I've been there in these times, it didn't seem that busy whenever I went there. As a muslim from the UK, it is worth to note that each island resort has a mosque for practising muslims. I did catch the plane twice and aerial views are awesome. Been on the speedboat the rest of the time. Snorkelling is a must, so is Island Hopping Tours and also travel to Male for a few hours too. Sunset cruises are a must and spotted dolphins and a shark

The 5 resorts I have been to are: Gili Lankanfushi (extremely expensive) One and Only Reethi Rah (reasonable but a little bit on the expensive side) Baros (pretty expensive) Paradise Island Resort (reasonably priced) Meeru Island Resort (good value for money)
many people are saying maldives is killer islands!? that's true that recently a filipino couple died and the Philippine government investigated the case and found out the guy died as he got a heart attack while he was in the sea and the lady died while trying to save him. and yes they were there on their honeymoon, so when a newly wed couple were enjoying in the sea why would the sea guard go there to interrupt? anyways, they life guards acted on time but not fast enough as it was the sea. anyways, how many people die in sea or rivers worldwide? and by other causes? it's thousands per day! so how could it be killer islands?
No not really but while i am from maldives the thing is the place i live here known as villingili is a prison but now its a normal island where we live and also there have been some deaths in a place called hulhumale there was once a tourist who died by a bus too
Many coments say its a dangerous place. But dont say how it is or why. Nature is dangerous always, when u dont respect it specialy. And remember u are in a remote place not in the city, emergency services take time to get to you so be careful. Tc

Are you sure about the 100% Muslim part? There are Maldivian Atheist groups that operate online in twitter and Facebook with significant amounts of followers. I also believe majority Maldivians never follow the religion as it’s supposed to be and are just Muslims for names sake. Prove me wrong.

Wht u potrayed are luxury travellings. I just came back fr maldives. Travelling both budget & luxury ways. I started off with Male...so many places i visited such as jumaat mosque, museum, tsunami monument, fish & produce market, presidential palace etc. Then i stayed in a luxury island resort. It's the best of both worlds.
Really long comment brace yourself: My life's dream has always been to go to the Maldives just to wake up and enjoy the setting i guess its a bit selfish considering the fact that i should be learning to cure cancer and end poverty but i just never really thought that i would like that path. After all thats been going on in the U.S it really made me think to myself what true peace would be like for me. I think that more people should stop worrying on what things would be like tomorrow and focus on today but i think that if i left out myself id be a massive hypocrite. Im not rich so i never really get to live life as much as i should and seeing a place this beautiful just sets my goals higher for the future. I went to Maldives and Sri Lanka last year in December. I loved Sri lanka but trust me Maldives is like a dream come true.I can proudly say, It's the most beautiful place on earth. This place is very dangerous.. 2 couple died. First couple died from Irish . October 17, 2017 2nd couple died from Philippines December 18, 2018. Very sad happened new couple.

In fact we are home to the biggest seaplane fleet in the world - While luxury resorts are expensive, Maldives offers various guest houses, Inns, Hotels locates in famous local islands such as Maafushi, Dhigurah, Huraa etc... which are very cheap and affordable plus provides the real local experience!

Haunted beach or be careful not to get electricuted while snorkeling. Recently couple died while snorkeling in thier honeymoon and they wernt the first victim and yes they know how to swim.
Maldives is a Safe place. and there is no electricity in the water dear. i have been snorkeling my whole life on these seas. and of course i'm saddened about the couple. but people have been writing different stories regarding the reasons. Some says the Husband got a heart attack and the wife went to save him. so we cant make assumptions of what we do not know. however, one thing i know is Maldives is the safest place to live. and to even travel.

2nd couple died from Philippines December 18, 2018. Very sad happened new couple.

- One of the major mode of transportation to islands and resorts are seaplane.. In fact we are home to the biggest seaplane fleet in the world
- While luxury resorts are expensive, Maldives offers various guest houses, Inns, Hotels locates in famous local islands such as Maafushi, Dhigurah, Huraa etc... which are very cheap and affordable plus provides the real local experience!

Haunted beach or be careful not to get electricuted while snorkeling. Recently couple died while snorkeling in thier honeymoon and they wernt the first victim and yes they know how to swim.

Maldives is a Safe place. and there is no electricity in the water dear. i have been snorkeling my whole life on these seas. and of course i'm saddened about the couple. but people have been writing different stories regarding the reasons. Some says the Husband got a heart attack and the wife went to save him. so we cant make assumptions of what we do not know. however, one thing i know is Maldives is the safest place to live. and to even travel.
