Having been to Maldives 5 times, I loved every minute of it - it was easier for me to get to the Maldives from the UK. French Polynesia is a long way from the UK but Bora Bora is on my bucket list although I know it is very expensive which will leave me Poorer Poorer LOL.
I have been to Maldives in the dry season (Feb-Mar). Because I am a Muslim of Pakistani heritage but born and bred in the UK, Maldives was much better for me on a cultural level and food-wise too.

Kevin & Kelly, thanks for making this video. In 2019 my wife and stayed at the Four Seasons in Bora Bora for our 10th Anniversary. We were there for a week then left for 5 days in Morea and we stayed at the Hilton. Needless to say the Hilton under any other circumstances would have been great; but we went to the Four Season first and were spoiled.
My wife wants to go to the Maldives and that is just not a bucket list for me. I am planning a return trip to Bora Bora in 2024 for our 15th Anniversary and plan to stay again at the Four Seasons AND a few days at the St. Regis just because she wanted to see that resort as well.
I told her that Bora Bora is my choice for all that you two mentioned and you really lost me with 40+ hours of travel to the Maldives. I thought the flight from Baltimore to LA then LA to Tahiti was long, I think I would rather do that flight again. :-)
I just subscribed to your channel and plan to look at a few more of your videos.

For people in the US, Bora is far easier to get to and less travel time, IMO at the higher resorts I found it cheaper than higher end resorts at the Maldives. Bora bora is less crowded but that might have been when I was there, Male airport is very busy with a lot more international flights. IF your spending $10K-$20K+ on either a honeymoon or can't decide on which one to go to, I'd recommend the Maldives, that would be my pick, but just know after 3-4 days from activities and exploring whatever island your on in the Maldives, you might feel a lit bit of ground hog day. It can be a challenge getting transfers to other islands and generally once you picked a resort you will be there for the entire trip. Bora bora does offer more flexibility but I didn't find Bora Bora island that interesting, there is a small town that you can walk around but generally most shops are selling pearls lol Also and while I hate to say this since the service and workers is the best it gets, St Regis is dated, for the money they need to invest money around the pool/bar area and that's where most people tend to spend most of their time, Conrad is a lot more modern/newer. As mentioned in the video Maldives offers a wide arrange of budgets and many resorts to choose from, but my only advice is go to a resort from Male as far as you can since some of the resorts around Male are not what you would expect of the Maldives. That's just my 2cents and some good tips in this video.

Just finished a 3 nights at the Conrad Maldives and currently at the W Maldives for our last 2 nights. I can say that if you are going for a honey or anniversary AND want the full experience from start to finish, meaning fly business/first class from US to the Maldives then I would say Maldives as there are more options. I agreed it’s on the more expensive side compared with bora bora, but you truly feel like it’s paradise in the Maldives. It’s probably because you’re in an island surrounded with 🏝 compare with the mountain in bora bora. The view of island chains from your seaplane flight to your destination is unreal. To me bora bora feels more like Hawaii with better reef and beaches.

I haven't checked for Maldives nor Seychelles yet but most of Bora bora's luxury resorts like four seasons, st Regis, pearl and intercontinental are family friendly meaning they have babysitting, free cribs for infants, kids activities and in room childcare which is such a bonus for my family since we have a young child.

Bora bora because it not only has one of the worlds clearest waters, but also a very unique polynesian culture that you will not find anywhere else (even in other polynesian islands). Of course it should be more expensive because it is a remote island in the middle of nowhere.

Bora Bora could be too crowded for me. It will be better to travel on a yacht and visit Bora Bora for 2 days, then move on to the neighboring islands. Maldives is definitely my favorite place. I can imagine the resort is much more relaxing than Bora Bora where bars and restaurants are cluttered along the lagoon. If you are in your own Maldives resort, you won’t mess up with other people from other resorts. Everything is exclusive on your own resort in Maldives.
