I would LOVE to see a film books collection video from you! I’ve been an avid film book collector since I was in my tweens, and I love seeing other people’s collections and finding new titles that way. I own the digital version of The Batman, but I haven’t watched it yet. One thing I will say about it, though, I loved the trailer that was released before the film came out. As soon as I heard Nirvana playing, I was like “this is the film for me!!”
Thanks, will definitely do a film books collection video. I love my TCM books and wish I had more biographies (any recommendations would be great). I used to read more biographies (actors, directors, etc) when I was younger but haven't read one in a long time. Jessi and I really enjoyed The Batman though it's very dark visually and thematically. We are absolutely loving The Penguin series on Max (only two episodes so far but same overall vibe). The Penguin is well written with many surprises (so far) and nods to The Godfather and The Sopranos.
@@CinemaDaveMedia If you're looking for some recommendations, here are a few: 1) Swanson on Swanson by Gloria Swanson is my favourite classic film (auto)biography. It's particularly great because it gives great insight about the dawn of Hollywood and how movies became movies. 2) Biographies by Scott Eyman are usually always hits and well worth checking out. 3) Anything written by Mark A. Vieira
Excellent, informative and very entertaining blog as always thank you Dave. I was wondering if you have The "V" series from around 1983-85, with Marc Singer and Jane Badler in your collection? I don't think I have seen it since its original transmission and am planning to rewatch it and source the DVDs. (I think only the mini series is on Warner Archive blu ray)
@@anthonydiggle2926 Thanks so much for your comment and kind words. I do have the “V” series on Blu-ray from Warner Archive. I will show it in the next weekly vlog.
We arrange our boutique Blu-rays by label, each label in alphabetical order. Then, all the 4Ks are together sorted alphabetically and finally standard Blu Ray by themselves, again alphabetically. We don’t do horror at all besides some John Carpenter and old Hammer films that my husband has. We did watch The Dead Don’t Die at the weekend which was excellent, but more of a Jarmusch does parody horror Shaun of the Dead style. We’re going to fill Shocktober with dark comedies (DarkComTober?) while looking forward to Noirvember. Regarding Star Trek, again that’s hubbies department, as is The Last of Us (playing, not watching). Like Jessie, I just have a Switch. The weather’s been wet and cold here recently so we’ve having warm stews, curries, and hot and spicy dinners. Best wishes and I hope you both and have a great week.
Glad you enjoyed The Dead Don't Die. I have Kino Lorber and Warner Archive titles in alphabetical order and my Criterions are in spine number order but everything else is a mixed bag (director sections, genres, holiday films, etc). Finding films (which really doesn't take me long at all) is fun and keeps me at the shelves longer which I love. We are watching lots of older horror films this year or horror comedies. As I get older, I'm not watching as many horror films (at least in recent years). I am usually watching Star Trek TOS at night these days and Jessi is using her Switch. She likes Spiritfarer, Zelda (Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom), and Stardew Valley. Also, we both like playing Overcooked, No Man's Sky (though haven't played too much) and Switch Sports (we tried basketball today but love tennis and bowling). Do you have any favorite Switch games? Best wishes to you and hope you have a great week too.
@@CinemaDaveMedia Yes, I love the Zelda games as well as Pokemon Arceus, Dragon Quest XI, Fire Emblem Three Houses, Persona 5 Royal and Octopath Traveler. I also like Ratchet & Clank, Astro Bot and Sackboy a Big Adventure co-op with my husband on PS5.
I don’t begrudge anyway who does, but I personally don’t like the remastered effects on Star Trek. I almost always go to my blu ray and pick the original version because (1) I don’t think the new stuff matches well; (2) I find that kind of thing insulting to the hard work of the original spfx artists.
Very good points. I really didn't think I'd like the remastered effects but enjoying them for some reason. I think this is the first time I've watched all of Star Trek TOS in order from the beginning and am really enjoying it. Also planning to rewatch all the movies again and start TNG next year.
@@CinemaDaveMedia Trek is a fun universe. I go through moods of the various shows and I also do a mini-marathon every Star Trek Day (Sept. 8). And sometimes, it’s more convenient to stream the TOS episode (like if I’m in bed), so I do watch the new versions-I’m not so dogmatic that I can’t watch them.
@@joshua2814 Yes, I agree. I go through moods with shows too and definitely try to keep one drama or sci-fi show going (I like Voyager too as an example) along with sitcom or two. I'm getting close to having a full 1970s/1980s TV lineup for myself each night at home. 🤣
I may pick up that CC book. Thanks for sharing.

I'd like to have that blu ray set with the original versions. That's cool they did it that way
@@cwillism I still have the original DVD sets but thinking of upgrading to Blu-ray. It’s convenient having digital versions too.
