    I don't know why people want a monster truck to handle perfectly, I want a bit of yaw, a bit of lean, I want them to behave like a monster truck, makes the driving experience so fun.
    This desire for great handling monster trucks is destroying that part of the market IMO, due to this most of them now are all large buggies, kudos to Traxxas keeping it real... lifting the inside wheel out of corners gets my vote 😀

      Yes exactly what i was thinking, i have a flat chassis buggy and a truggy for handling, but i bought a maxx for fun, it can get boring if the car handles perfectly (unless your racing it), i want to see some body roll and i like the high chassis styling even if it makes it top heavy its a fun truck.

    I consider myself a pro at breaking rc trucks that being said I’ve owned this truck for 6 months and it’s the first one a haven’t broken on the first day lol.the wheels come loose and I just wore out the spur gear.3 bucks for the spur gear and looking to upgrade the hubs soon .best truck ever puts a smile on my face every time.also I’m a basher not a racer I would recommend this truck to anyone.

    Personally speaking, working on the MAXX is simple, I have the solar flare V1, upgraded with wide maxx kit and steel traxxas cvd's its now a beast, the longer chassis is what I do not have, however I think the shorter chassis is the way to stay, so to say lol, I have NO problem sticking with the TRAXXAS, in my experience with dealing with horizon after they gained control of arrma, losi, and axial, their quality control has failed me big time, long live TRAXXAS

    • @mezzyshredder
      @mezzyshredder ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Couldn't agree more with your entire post. I have the exact same upgrades and feel exactly the same way. I personally disagree with everything he states in this video. Aluminum chassis' are way different vehicles all together so comparing plastic to metal is the same as comparing apples to oranges. Razor's opinions are extremely biased and completely inaccurate imo. My issue is he delivers false information to the unknowing and wrongfully paints a dim picture of a fabulous product which clearly is the industry leader. Traxxas rose up from the 80s to be the kings of RC bashing after leaving the racing circuit. Long live Traxxas! Horizon is dead to me! Not even close to the same quality and their cars weigh a ton. Once you dent that aluminum chassis' go see how much it costs to replace. Razor's quick to bash the plastic parts but fails to tell you that the metal parts of arrma cars are 2 to 4 times more money than Traxxas parts! He doesn't tell you that though. He just plays devil's advocate with every Traxxas vehicle out there. Also the E Revo is far more difficult to work on than the maxx, which razor does not mention either. He says that the e revo is a better vehicle which is not true. The E Revo WAS... their dedicated race vehicle when Traxxas was still into dominating the racing circuit and the e revo did just that. If you go back and look, it dominated every circuit it raced on. And therefore it is extremely difficult and involved to repair. It was specifically meant and intended for experienced racers, especially compared to the Maxx which was designed for ease of repair. I'm pretty sure razor does not even know this information because he was not even around when Traxxas was dominating in the 80s. He talks like he has no understanding of the history of the E-Revo. He's ignorant in this area. His entire post is completely inaccurate. I would not listen to anything he claims. It's all false information. The chassis is extremely strong. He admits it is a durable vehicle but yet contradicts himself and bashes the very servo system which makes it so durable. He even admits that he has never broken this servo. And it typically doesn't break unless you completely abuse the vehicle. He really has no idea what he's talking about. He gives Traxxas a bad name and should be ashamed of himself.

      The plastic driveshafts are fine, just don't know why Traxxas charges you like the whole truck is made out of metal. If it's all plastic, it should be $450.

    Handling isn’t great. I can’t get mine to not chassis slap even with WideMaxx springs and 90 weight oil. Not my fastest RC truck at all but I tell you what it’s always my go too. A ton of confidence in just grabbing it, throwing a battery in and bashing with no worries. Never broke a thing even after many “ohhhh crap” moments.

      It's DESIGNED to chassis slap, stop trying to eliminate it.
      The chassis is a whole lot better at absorbing energy than your shock shafts or springs.
      Why do you think it would be present out of the box? Engineers don't make decisions of the sort for no reason...

      Fully agree, the kush drive and bucket proof construction make my version 1 one one of my highest mileage rigs. It’s issues are landing and power. I do a lot of grass running which makes the lower power much more noticeable. I just picked up a v2 which I’m going to put a 6s system in, and I’ll keep my og max on 4s. It does jump horribly but it’s a great rc to run when your practicing something new that’s going to have you crashing a lot.

If my son wasn’t to heavy into the hobby, i might of not bought the Maxx, cus we have 2 Xmaxx’s 😉👍🏼💯 even the new HPI V2 Savage is about $720-730. Nice truck however kinda on the expensive side, for what you get!

    • @mezzyshredder
      @mezzyshredder 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Traxxas is not overpriced. The others just aren't offering the quality or customer service or ease of parts available and that costs a little more. You get what you pay for. That's what you are paying for. You get more, so you pay more. Simple economics. With the level of popularity of Traxxas vehicles, it's obvious their client base has no problem paying their prices. At the end of the day, their products are better than anything horizon is putting out. Good vehicles, from Horizon, just not quite the quality of Traxxas. And Horizon customer service is completely incomparable to Traxxas customer support, with Traxxas being open 7 days a week, and always being able to get a rep within a couple of minutes. And they always find a solution to the issue at hand. Can't beat Traxxas when you're really in a jam. You get all that plus the easiest parts availability without having to order the parts every time you need any little thing. So many hobby stores stock tons of Traxxas parts. All that is worth a few bucks more. To many, the consensus is Traxxas buyers would rather pay a little more now, than Iot later on.

    @RC Razor. Can't say I'm not disappointed with the jumping performance in your review. I was hoping for better.
    But I have a couple questions. Isn't it being all plastic a benefit? I've watched another content creator say the plastic bends and bounces back whereas the Kraton's metal chassis bends and stays there. Also, should it be cheaper than a monster truck with more metal parts? Wouldn't picking the right plastic compound take a little R&D to get right? I also think the fit and finish of the molding is very nice. What are your thoughts

    • @RazorRC
      @RazorRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question and very good points! Yes, properly designed plastic is more durable than metal, which is why I think the Maxx is so crazy durable. As for R&D costs, you’re absolutely right - initial costs for plastic parts is much higher than metal. But I have no way of knowing when companies have recouped their molding costs, so I just ignore that part. I’m sure that’s why the Maxx was so expensive initially and why they were able to keep the price about the same for the V2.

    This fellow is always disappointed with this car and yet oddly can’t stop talking about it or using it for years. It seems to be the price that bugs him because its 20-25% higher, and because it doesn't handle as well as it could. It clearly doesn’t measure up to competition class cars in it’s handling but it's not supposed to at all. It's supposed to be durable and fun and a little crazy and it excels at that. Broken cars are mostly not fun. Traxxas' individual parts on this model might not all be the highest quality for the price point individually but the durable design adds real value regardless of the production cost. What's wrong with that? Consider the other value ads too: Traxxas offers instant anonymous customer service all day, maintains a distribution network at physical stores, and has a vast inventory ready for same day processing through multichannel fulfillment for probably tens of thousands of skus. That takes a bigger team of expensive skilled people to maintain inventory like that. Nobody likes to think about paying for marketing but Traxxas probably spends more there too. So is that worth an extra 20%-25% compared to the competition? Maybe not for the avid enthusiast or competitor who doesn’t need that stuff, but for anyone who just wants to do some spontaneous fast bashing, and get their car up and running again quickly when it breaks? I think it's a fair deal.

    • @RazorRC
      @RazorRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You bring up some good points, and I'm pretty sure I said the same thing in the video. It has great support, I said that. It has top of class durability, I said that. I acknowledged the superior manufacturing in Taiwan. If anything, the only thing we seem to disagree on is the Value, and I don't think any objective person could say this truck has an average or above average value at $570. They just can't. I gave them credit (+1 star from the V1) for keeping the price about the same, but there's no doubt in my mind that Traxxas has a higher profit margin on their cars than anyone else. That's clear as day to anyone who buys other brands. If you like paying extra for all the lawyers, marketing, funny car racing, etc. that Traxxas spends millions on great, but it does absolutely nothing for the consumer. It only helps Traxxas profit even more than they already do.
