This is one of the best videos out there. I love the fact that you actually showed the WHAT NOT TO DO'S." Unprofessionals like me thank you for you time.
I'm a pro cosmetologist considering a career change to nail tech. Suite, your videos are more informative and professional than the pro mags. Thank you. I would love if you could do a similar demo for chromes!
I recently invested in a gel polish kit. I got really sick of my nail polish chipping off after a day, so I thought it was time. I can't get acrylics because of my contacts, even though I really want them. (Can't get them out with long nails lol) The gel polish's been in for about 7 days now, no chipping, so I'm very impressed already! 😅 my local drug store is having a sale on gel polishes from the same brand, so imma get a few more, since I really like them!!
Get super long nails..I'm sure they will be beautiful..try putting ur contact lens on ur 1st finger bent knuckle..easy peasy..to remove ..use ur knuckle too..keep swiping the lens down till it kinda crinkles down and out :)
I'm not sure why you think that you can't wear acrylics because you wear contacts. I wear contacts and I have acrylics. Never had an issue. To remove my contacts, I don't pinch anymore though. I slide it down and out of my eye. Easy peasy.
I love gel nails :) since I got my own set I can't stop wearing them. Not only the application process is fun and they last you a long but when you do gel nails they always look so neat! Even after a weak or two they still look good :) I'd rather take my time and go through the whole process of applying them and have great looking nails for over 2 weeks, rather than puting reagular nail polish on (which takes much less time) and have them look good for 3 days.
I thought the "shrinking" of gel product it was because I was applying it wrong, but you said that it's the product... I'm so very happy you said that.
mvalonso75 could be the product but it can also be that you may be using products that aren’t compatible with one another or you still have some sort of moisture on the nail
i've been a frequent commenter on your videos for the last year now and you've been such a huge inspiration to me! i'm currently not able to buy your acrylic set, so i stopped by sally's today to pick up another brand, that actually works very well. the point of this is that i watched all of your videos to help me through doing my own acrylic nails for the first time. thank you for helping me and many others break out of their shell and get the courage to experiment with nail sculpting and nail art. we're all so thankful for you and your amazing channel (and camera man of course!). love you 💖
100% acetone.. cotton balls.. aluminum foil cut up into pieces to wrap your finger in.. lightly file off the shine off the polish. soak some cotton with the acetone place it on your finger wrap the aluminum foil around it. wait about 15 mins take off foil and tada
The one that was uploaded right before this one explains how to apply builder gel. The one with the flowers. She does a flower one with acrylic and a flower one with builder gel. Very good explanation on how to apply it.
i needed this video sa bad lol i got some gel polish yesterday and had to re do it 4 times because it kept wrinkling!!!! just in time!!! thank you so much!!!!
Hello , It’s been about 3or 4 years seance I watched you and I was able to find u doing nails with gel on natural nails and I was very happy, I really missed you 🥰😘
Thank you so much for your tips! My gel nail polish always sinks to my side cuticles causing it to look ugly.KEY: Apply thin coats as you go. I just did my nails again, applying thin coats (4 coats in total) and they look superb. Thank you!!
Should I generally try to only use the lamp that comes with a specific brand of gel polish, or are all lamps pretty much universal as long as I cure it the proper amount of time according to the gel?
I would like to start to do my own nails but I'm not sure where to begin with buying the supplies. Could you do a video showing your pick of nail supplies for someone who's just starting, but still wants better quality items than those in a starter kit? Or maybe you know of a starter kit that's almost as good as the products that you use.
Jennifer L. I would highly recommend going to an actual beauty store! Target and Walmart have grown their nail sections but not all locations are equal.
I bought the light on Amazon and the prep, base and top coat and gel polishes at Sallys. Im a begginer so Im trying mini bottles of different brands. First 2 times I failed but my third time my nails came out really good. ☺
I finally invested in my own LED light and picked up a few gel polishes from Sally. I ordered more and am waiting for them to arrive. Last night I did my first gel polish mani and I LOVE it! I had a few done at a local salon beforehand, and getting my own light is going to be a great investment! I was afraid I would do something wrong, but I took my time and my nails look great! Thanks for all the awesome info Suzie!
I’ve been a licensed tech for a little over a year now and i can’t believe i just now found this channel.. So many of my questions have been answered already thank you so much Suzie!!

Oh! Thank you so much for the lesson on gel polish. I needed that help. Every time I try to cure my gel polish it never seems to dry. Now knowing it's too thick helps. Thanks
my hobby is nail art and I have been thinking of trying out at a salon acrylic nails and when just a gel white over it or an acrylic fade with a clear gel on it. when I do nail art I use just normal polishes on my natural nails. can I use normal polish on a gel covered acrylic nail? another question also. if I did get these done could I treat these as I would usually with my natural nails? e.g. peelable base coat? would it still work the same? sorry if these questions are a bit stupid but I thought I might as well ask before I ended up getting it done and not being able to post nail art for 2/3 weeks

Suzie, you've taught me a lot. I know I'm better than those nail techs at the nail salon. You have taught me everything. My nails are happier and healthier than ever! You're a wonderful lady and an awesome teacher! Thanks for an Ivy league nail education for free! I love you! ❤
She is probably using a Max Estrada - Nail Couture lamp. She is using mostly those products in this video. I could be wrong, Google that brand's lamp and see if it's the same :D
Iris Medina don't waste money on the lamp, mine pooped out after five uses. find one on amazon that cures led/uv. I like Max's products but I felt the lamp was/ is a waste and there's no refund, you'll notice in later video's she's not using the lamp either. maybe bad luck with mine?
I got you spicy or year ago for my birthday does anybody know about that brand? I am not a technician, obviously, so I don’t have the same access that some of you girls do
I'm so glad I found your channel. Your teaching really helped me with my nails. I just did my nails and they look like I got them done at the salon. THANK YOU! 💞💞💞😁😁😁
Susie, how much would it take to get you to come do a house call here at my home in Oklahoma 😭😭😭 I need some coffin, hot pink, with chrome nails like asap!! lol
Great video. Quick question: in the very beginning of the video when you used the prep and primer, do you have to cure those under the uv light or do those air dry?
I do all the steps correctly buff, prime..etc but after a few days of wear the gel starts to feel almost "puffy" in a sense. I can peel it all off without soak..is this because it's applied to thick after all or too many sparse costs? Too thick of top coat? Anyone else have that issue?
I cure mine for a long time and it seem to keep it more rigid. Do you use LED or UV? LED is better and sometimes depending on your lamp UVs can take longer then others.
Miss Polished26 I have the same problem! it comes off on one piece a couple days later, so frustrating.. it's like if my nail produces to much natural oil and makes it come off... ( I feel relief I am not the only one!)
Using thin coats of base/polish/top coat is the key to prolonging your gel polish manicure. My polish can last anywhere from 2-3 weeks. Also, you might want to try different base coat. Base coats that are easy to remove often have problems with lifting. I find that Gelish foundation (base coat) is more difficult to remove. Other tips... use rubbing alcohol to cleanse the nail after buffing. Avoid painting your cuticles and cap the free edge. Hope this helps.
Emma Thienes I use an LED lamp. I cure for the time listed on the bottle but perhaps the lamp is too weak for the gel to fully cure? I'll try curing for longer. Thank you for the suggestion :)
StyleByZaza thank you for your suggestions. I probably use too thick of coats after all or don't cure for long enough. I'm going to get a new led lamp soon maybe that'll help too ;)
currently rocking black nails because trump is prez 😭☠ but that metallic blue is super dope. I wear acrylics but I change my polish constantly so gel polish isn't really necessary for me. especially because for some awesome reason, normal polish NEVER chips on acrylics. so if I wanna wear it longer than usual I can do that with normal polish.
I love your videos. I was intimidated by gel polish before I watched this video. Your advice was very helpful & I did an amazing job doing my nails with gel polish the first time. Thank you Suzie ❤️
Just wanted to say I absolutely love your videos. I've always bitten my nails and I love your tutorials to still have pretty nails. You seem so relaxed and kind. Thank you! 😁
I have been following you and your lessons, but I'm sure not its in the correct order and I would like to start at the very beginning at the Lesson one (1) and then follow through up to date or present. I think you are a great teacher and I can learn a lot from you. Thanks so much Betty Horne
Alissa Webkinz it would take forever though, believe me. Like hours, or maybe days. You just want to work a little quicker with gel in natural light as it may make the polish a bit thick and hard to work with
I have watched a lot of general application videos, and you are a great teacher you really take your time and give good tips that make me want to do a good job
Omg that's exactly what happened to my nails at prom!!!!I had them done right before and there was glitter gel coming off every where and it was all gooey underneath:/
Hi suzie... I love all your videos. Very educational and informative!💖 Do you have any videos where you show what products you need to start up with for beginner? Ill soon start nail class but want to practice at home so i know better by the time i finish the classes. 😊
Elizabeth nail lol do you watch too much simplynailogical? XD, the pro and primer is basically like a base coat. They will protect your nail for the gel polish. For normal nail polish you don't need to do that, just a normal base coat.
Very helpful I just started venturing into the gel polishes and this same boo boo would happen to me on one or 2 nails I thought I wasn't curing long enough and then it did dawn to me it perhaps was too thick. Gracias! I love watching you do your magic
Beautiful work. Love your camera man's. Comments too. You are so real, sweet natured, and most importantly to us laymen, so very easy to understand and retain information from. Just love your personality and mannerisms, especially like when you talk to Grant or a client while working on their nails.
Besides all the lovely comments already made by others, i want to add that you have the most nicest voice to listen to. I’m quite sensitive to such things. I just recently started doing my nails because i have them long finally (was a nail biter until 2yrs ago 🤫)✋🏻✋🏻
being a nail and art lover is cool i myself being an nail art lover i watched your videos when i was 14 but was unable to find but a few days back i found your channel and its very soothing to me sometimes but most of times i get borred of long videos but your videos are awesome i like them to watch again and again
i have a question for you. i have been getting acrylic nails for over 7 years from salons. i had no problems. until i started learning to do them myself and i get horrable itchy sorness around the cuticle. i stopped doing them myself with acrylic and gel.i went back to a salon and had no problems again. 😐 is it possibly contact dermatitis? or alergic reaction?
Thank you for this video! I’ve bought all of my gel polish supplies and this really helps to learn the correct way to do it. Wish me luck! Also, those colors look amazing on you. You look very pretty today. 💕
Hi from Adelaide, Australia Suzie. I just wanted to tell you that I have improved so much by watching your videos big thanks! Would love to see more videos from you more often. Kind regards Stephy
So guys, this is my first gel kit and I just had a few questions 1.I have a primer and a base coat, which one do I use first 2. Do I have to cure the base coat?
i love your videos! i can watch them and actually feel like i know what i'm talking about when i talk to the technician doing my nails. so incredibly helpful, thank you for making these!
I love your videos I do my own nails and sometimes my family. strangers have stopped me and asked If i charge but I never would because I'm not a professional. watching your videos has definitely given me some good ideas for designs

Do you have a time frame as to how long a gel polish manicure should take you to do?
I recently invested in a gel polish kit. I got really sick of my nail polish chipping off after a day, so I thought it was time. I can't get acrylics because of my contacts, even though I really want them. Mandy Carolina what brand
They actually make silicone soft sort of tweezers to take out contacts with long nails
Get super long nails..I'm sure they will be beautiful..try putting ur contact lens on ur 1st finger bent knuckle..easy peasy..to remove ..use ur knuckle too..keep swiping the lens down till it kinda crinkles down and out :)

Have no problem doing a gel manicure at home, the problem is getting it off of natural nails! Need a video on that! 😮
100% acetone.. cotton balls.. aluminum foil cut up into pieces to wrap your finger in.. lightly file off the shine off the polish. soak some cotton with the acetone place it on your finger wrap the aluminum foil around it. wait about 15 mins take off foil and tada
I set a timer so I don’t lose track of time.
A steamer works really good
idk if this was supposed to happen but mine was peeling so i peeled it off 😬😂

Dunno how relevant it'll be now, but I like the Naked Manicure line by Zoya. They make slightly translucent polishes that act as a tint or color corrector instead of a fully opaque polish. I use the lavender shade to mask any dinginess, plus their satin top coat to simulate a natural nail.
Thank you for this! I wondered why it was wrinkling and peeling off. I did EXACTLY what you've just said not to do. thank you! So it doesn't matter how many coats of gel polish I apply, but they must be applied thinly?

Simply nailogical: wrap the tip 😂
I have watched 10 gel application videos and none of them have helped me but this video is so good it explains everything
If you use a base coat on natural nails, do you still need to put a primer on before this?
yes
I never miss one of her videos, she is one of the greatest nail artist.
Do you have to file the nail first? I have veeery thin nails, you see. Is it ok to just clean up the nail and push the cuticles, etc.?
Kristina Sandnes I don't. Just be sure your nail beds are free from oils. Use alcohol or dehydrater to make sure they are oil free.
I've let my nails done yesterday for the first time. It was fun! I think i'm gonna let then done more often. They are beautiful shiny black. Love it.
Amazing video! (Of course)... So informative. 👍🏼 Question: can you OVER CURE gel polish??
Yes, you can but because the results are not instant its hard to know when it happens - that's why it's best we follow manufacturers directions. :) great question Nathaniel - I will be talking about this in my upcoming videos:)
Wonderful! Thanks so much. :) Looking forward to seeing it.

What do I do if my bottle of gel polish has gotten really thick and goopy? Is there any way to repair it?
yes, put alcohol on a cotton or lint free pad and clean it off
Natalie Gonzalez I believe the polish is about as safe as any other polish.. But the lamps are the MORE dangerous part.
If you get an LED lamp it won't be dangerous, it's just the UV you gotta be careful/mindful of.

Alissa Michaela NO! Just no. Get a lamp.
I have watched a lot of general application videos, and you are a great teacher you really take your time and give good tips that make me want to do a good job
Literally just squealed when I saw this!! 😂
Sounds like you get as excited over nails as I do😂😍
Nail Career Education Definitely!!
I never file my nail before. I only use the prep thing and my nail polish last up to 2 weeks even more sometimes. I love your videos.
Yay, Sound guy lives :D
Thank you for the tips I’m new to gels and got a kit to try it out I love them and now thanks to you I will be a lot better x
That polish is so pretty!!
great tips! I usually get polish on sides and cuticles. Do you recommend cleaning cuticle spills with acetone and brush before curing ?
Omg that's exactly what happened to my nails at prom!!!!I had them done right before and there was glitter gel coming off every where and it was all gooey underneath:/
Bummer!
Nail Career Education
Hi suzie...
I love all your videos.
Very educational and informative!💖
Do you have any videos where you show what products you need to start up with for beginner?
Ill soon start nail class but want to practice at home so i know better by the time i finish the classes. 😊
Why u don't use a base coat?
That's what the primer is for.
because she is applying it on top of acrylic
Elizabeth nail you don't need a base coat on top of acrylic or gel. it's for your natural nail.
Elizabeth nail lol do you watch too much simplynailogical? XD, the pro and primer is basically like a base coat. They will protect your nail for the gel polish. For normal nail polish you don't need to do that, just a normal base coat.
Shwee Beez My gel kit came with a Base coat tho.

@simplynailogical
Ah thank you so much! I'm a first time gel polish user and I couldn't figure out why some of them were wrinkling! This was so helpful
"Capping the free edge" , you mean wrap the tip :D holosexuals where ya at?
I've learn so much from Suzie. I love her TH-cam channel. Thank you for your work.
Besides all the lovely comments already made by others, i want to add that you have the most nicest voice to listen to. I’m quite sensitive to such things. I just recently started doing my nails because i have them long finally (was a nail biter until 2yrs ago 🤫)✋🏻✋🏻
I just watched this! Any tips for the Essie Gel Couture that don't require a light?
being a nail and art lover is cool
i myself being an nail art lover
i watched your videos when i was 14 but was unable to find but a few days back i found your channel and its very soothing to me
sometimes but most of times i get borred of long videos but your videos are awesome
i like them to watch again and again
i have a question for you. i have been getting acrylic nails for over 7 years from salons. i had no problems. until i started learning to do them myself and i get horrable itchy sorness around the cuticle. i stopped doing them myself with acrylic and gel.i went back to a salon and had no problems again.
This is SOOOO helpful thank you SO MUCH for this helpful tutorial!!!
So guys, this is my first gel kit and I just had a few questions
1.I have a primer and a base coat, which one do I use first
2. Do I have to cure the base coat?
The colour of the first polish is very pretty. It reminds me of winter, moonlight, stars and snowflakes😊
Suzie, please do a tutorial on Max's cats eye effect with Precious Minerals. I'm struggling with that little magnet to get the look!
i love your videos! i can watch them and actually feel like i know what i'm talking about when i talk to the technician doing my nails. so incredibly helpful, thank you for making these!
What light do y’all suggest, because I been looking at amazon uv lights, but they have negative comments... if anyone has suggestions pls lmk 😭🙏🏽❤️
I love your voice .... There! It’s like I went to a spa 🤍🤍🤍
Thanks So Much This Is Why I Love Your Videos Because They Easy To Follow And The Very Helpful
I love your videos I do my own nails and sometimes my family. strangers have stopped me and asked If i charge but I never would because I'm not a professional. watching your videos has definitely given me some good ideas for designs
Really nice video! I've been working with gel for a while now but there's always room for improvement! Great tips!
So do you not need base coat for gel polish? Thanks for the video❤️
it was so satisfying to watch you apply the gel polish
