    Good crop....l think l'd want to put about 2 feet of soil out of the planter...then would be easy to pull the rest of the soil into that space by hand...no need for the fork.

    In Maine on the thousand-acre farms when the tops die off it is time to cut the tops off and then wait 2 weeks before harvesting. Of course, these are professional farmers that make their living this way, but what do they know.

    Since you like purple potatoes. You should try the magic molly. Ut is the darkest purple and delicious. When I suggested it to other you tubers they are hooked🤗

    Nice harvest Pete! We grew ours in fabric grow bags this year. Easy to harvest as I just cut the plants at ground level and remove the leaves, then turn the bag contents out into a plastic concrete mixing tub and pick out the potatoes. No stabbing and no small ones left behind. When done, just put the soil back in the bags and use them for fall harvest crop by planting in a few weeks (using the smalls as seed potatoes of course). Oh, and Pete, it's pronounced "a·dr·aan·dak" like the chair and the mountain range in upstate NY.

    Great harvest Pete! We had a small harvest this year in our 30 gal containers. We are very thankful. We are going to grow the purple variety this fall and give it a try. God bless.

    Potatoes can be freeze dried. Blanched first but they do work. I did a bunch sliced and use them as fried potatoes or scalloped potatoes. I haven't tried the mashed.

    Great inspiration. I just posted my video on how to start potatoes from slips from to planting. Hopefully my harvest will produce at least a tiny bit of what yours did. 👍🏻

    I pulled some Yukon Golds after about 100 days this past Memorial day and some of them were sprouting too. What causes that?

    • @petebeasttexashomesteading
      @petebeasttexashomesteading  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really sure what causes them to sprout early but maybe the heat might have something to do with it.
