  • This webinar facilitated a discourse among students and professionals from both research and applied settings regarding immigration policy and reform. The webinar aimed to help bridge gaps where they exist between research and applied work by drawing on a range of expertise, and explored how researchers can better contribute to what is needed within the field.
Panelists included: Josiah Heyman, Ph.D. (Professor of Anthropology, Endowed Professor of Border Trade Issues, and Director of the Center for Inter-American and Border Studies at The University of Texas at El Paso); Paul Wickham Schmidt, J.D. (Retired Immigration Judge, U.S. Immigration Court; Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown Law); and Aldo Barrita, M.A. (Doctoral Student in the Psychological and Brain Sciences PhD Program, University of Nevada, Las Vegas).
The event was organized and moderated by Chelsea Queen, a fourth-year Doctoral Student at The University of Texas at El Paso. Chelsea Queen also serves as the Policy and Applied Work Member-at-Large on the SPSSI Graduate Student Committee (GSC).
