    My parents would not allow me to become a religious. I know in my spirit it was my calling, but I honored my parents. I am old now and just live a secular life as near to a "nun in the world" as I can. So thankful for the SSPX sisters.

      Same here. I regret deeply listening to my parents as it seems living outside my calling has made life rougher for me.

    How do they define what constitutes a "mission" territory? Gabon and the Dominican Republic are both majority Catholic (or at least self-identified Catholic.)
    Why no houses in Asia?
    216 sisters in 30 houses? That seems like a small average number of people for each house (an average of 7). Is that deliberate?

    The hard age cut off limits vocations. Some women due to family responsibilities cannot enter by 30 as they maybe caring for their parents, through no fault of their own, especially converts. The church actually requires only children to care for their parents if they become ill. Yet a percentage of these women are called by God but are then limited by circumstances. Maybe it is time that religious orders did a rethink on so called "older vocations". Only someone who is sure of their vocation is going to risk all after 40 years of age. Space needs to be found for women like them. Yes I am one of them but I am lucky in that an order is willing to take me over 40 once my caring responsibilities are completed. Yes it's easier to form a younger woman but an older woman maybe able to see what is happening more clearly than that younger soul and be even more able to fight modernism.

    • @Carla-IrishCatholic
      @Carla-IrishCatholic ปีที่แล้ว

      many places do accept older vocations, you just have to ask, im sure the Sisters would accommodate you and if you are really called God will make it happen. The SSPX Oblate Sisters do take in later vocations. May God bless you

      I recommend the book "The Way of Divine Love". Sr. Josepha was a mystic whose entrance to religious life was delayed by caring for her sick mother. She joined the Sisters of the Sacred Heart, who back then lived traditional religious life and accepted older vocations in the spirit of St Jane de Chantal

    She continued to call Young Women. What is the age limit? It seems none of the religious orders take older women. Most Mature women know for sure what they want and can do.
