This young lady is really developing her feel right before our eyes. In the past, she used to be very technical and clinical. Now I am noticing that her capacity to modulate between notes and add or subtract to or from her phrasing is becoming more and more distinct and regular. As Miles Davis famously said: "what you play is as important as what you don't play". This young lady understands that very very well. I like how she can aerate her play by not playing a note, before attacking more fiercely behind that silence for more effect. Beautiful!

She is getting better all the time, but I never felt she overly technical and clinical.
That's always been the appeal of her channel - she's always been grooving, serving the music, rather than constantly trying to show off like so many technical players do.

Hi, you described it so well, totally agree. It's in her fingers...combined with her technique, feel, touch etc. And always in the pocket. I think she must be a perfectionist. A lot of talent combined no doubt with a lot of practice. Fabulous and such a joy to listen to!

I've seen a lot of your covers over the years, but this one has remained my favorite. The perfect amount of groove on an extremely tasty bassline.

Why isn't this a million hits already? I first heard this a few months ago, thought it was good but I wasn't particularly into Ariana Grande. Then, I heard the original recently and was wondering why it sounded strange. You guessed it, the bass was missing. This version has the bass front and center but a more integrated mix still would do wonders for the track aimed at Ariana's fanbase.

I watched a few videos of you earlier when you were less experienced and while the technical proficiency of playing is there, you have no groove. You can see in your eyes the focus of the musical patterns, where your hands need to be, what section is next all going through your head. Then years later, watching you play this, this is just pure groove. The technical proficiency that has been fostered has now been combined with a genuine feel for the music.
Nothing is better than just getting lost in the music as you play. When you've transcended the technical ability required to play a song and you can just go. Your head bobs and sways as you feel the music push and pull you along. You're part of it.
    That's the best feeling.

I love Julia's playing but I confess that I just pressed play in this video because it's her, but wasn't really paying any atention.
Just started playing with my cats with the video playing in the background. But the moment that lick at 2:04 came, I stopped everything and went back to the video, 1st to repeat that licc 5 or 6 times, and then to play the whole thing so I could listen to it properly.
As a musician myself, I don't really believe in the concept of "good" or "bad" when applied to art, unless i'm discussing pure technical aspects. But you just have sometihng else... It's not that you are doing anything exceptionaly difficult in technical terms (even tho you are also very good at that), but to me it's more the fact that you seem to have an incredible sensitivity to recognize what to do, and when to do it, exactly when it's needed.... And that's very hard to teach.
Hats off to you Julia, and thank you for still uploading covers, which we know don't generate any revenue due to copyright policies, but are still a blessing to us listeners.
