Thanks for sharing this. I've led a number of birding tours on the Larapinta Trail over the years and these guys at Ormiston Gorge are always one of the highlights for me. I love the footage when they all go into hyper vigilance mode at around 2:11 . . . and those crests! What's not to love about this fantastic Aussie pigeon :)

The colouring and wing markings of these beautiful pigeons remind me a little of our red-legged partridges. Thank you for answering in your info the question that arose in my mind while watching about the birdsong in the background.
    A lovely video.

These pigeons are beautiful and one of my favourite Australian outback birds.

Thanks. In Australia we have two crested pigeons, both basically arid zone species, the Spinifex Pigeon and the Crested Pigeon.

They do have similar markings to Red-legged Partridges, probably good camo for similar environments. I saw those partridges in Spain, nice birds.

Great video! I went birdwatching in both Alice Springs and Exmouth (WA) last year, but unfortunately I missed the Spinifex Pigeon... Thanks for posting!

That pigeon really stands out from other different pigeon species, resembling a different type of bird.

Thanks TK. No, I have no training, just watched a lot of docos. It's been a big learning curve in video and editing, as I have never done any video till just before last Christmas. The Borneo clips were basically my first real wildlife video attempt.

I really want to go and see this bird for myself, it's a spectacular species just like it's twin look alike the crested pigeon which I have in my yard :D Amazingly I got the opportunity to photograph and record a white crested pigeon I called White Kiddy but it died sadly.
