Randy I want to give u ultra credit for pointing out Nimitz Class about 6 months ago. Now he has connections that will treat him like a stakes horse. Dying to see what happens with him.
Randy pullin' up for a quick rundown of the coming stellar start to the season, I like it. There is something about the Pegasus, I just feel like it is the race that really gets it all goin' for the year, even though races do take place before hand, it is just that race that really says "Welcome, the new race season is FINALLY here!" It will be litty to see Nick Luck out there doin' his thing the only way it can and should be done! Jerry The Nipper is THAT horse, but my general rule is never bet against Rick Dutrow, soooo..... Hoist The Gold all day for me, the horse hasn't gotten much of a chance to show if he can get the distance or not, it is largely just assumed he can't since he hasn't tried to do a whole lot of it and his workout times are wicked sprinter level fast.
I agree that Buscador is probably the best bet and the horse you want coming out of the Cigar Mile, but on a speed biased track, I really don't think Hoist the Gold is as impossible as people think. We've seen races (the Travers comes to mind) where National Treasure blatantly wasn't fast enough to get the lead over Scotland, but people bet him like he was. Scotland wasn't good enough to hold the lead, Hoist the Gold may not be either, but if National Treasure isn't fast enough to run with him, is it possible his trip on the lead is easier than we're thinking it is? I get that AQU was severely biased last out, I get that he's probably just a good sprinter, but I won't be surprised if he's still there at the top of the stretch, and if he is he has a chance, and you'll want him in those exotics. I'm glad Randy gave National Treasure his flowers for the Dirt Mile, it seems most experts can't be seen saying anything good about National Treasure, but people also greatly overrated Zozos that day. That to me was a case where many people went into that race with two preconceived agendas: betting against Cody's Wish and finding a horse that was faster than National Treasure.
