The shed is looking amazing. Wasps have a strong sense of smell and dislike certain plants like peppermint, spearmint, basil, eucalyptus, cloves, geranium, thyme, citronella, bay leaves, and lemongrass. They are also repelled by vinegar, cinnamon, coffee grounds, and sliced cucumber. Incidentally rodents hate the smell of peppermint too. Like wasps they have a strong sense of smell and the peppermint stings in their noses. You could also hang wasp traps in nearby trees to lure them away from the goat shelter and shed.
If they do not like peppermint get some peppermint oil or Uncle Gus mouse sachets or spray in the area of your local hardware store where they have pest repellent. Put gasoline soaked cotton balls in a zip lock and leave it open in the shed. BUT DO NOT USE ANY TOOLS UNTIL YOU AIR OUT THE SHED
Peppermint and spearmint is also easy to grow. It is very invasive but you could put it in containers around the base of your shed and even the goat shelter. You can also harvest some for use in your kitchen.
Calling on Jesus to place a hedge of protection around you and calling out to Jesus works too. Jungle Oil (from Sweden) works really well for ticks, chiggers, and mosquitos. Not sure about wasps, but I bet it would work on them too. I tiny bottle lasted me for Years! My aunt and uncle brought it back from Sweden when they moved back. Great stuff...but it is not organic.
Hercules is so cute with his howling. I especially like how every time he howls he then look towards the trailer to see if he's gotten your attention. He's so sweet and lovable I wish I could just cuddling am in my arms.
The shed is absolutely super! Well done Kyle & Shanon, at least Kyle wont have to worry about performing the chicken dance, he has a whole new jive going on with his wasp dance! Seems the Doss's are natural dancers in Nature, chickens, spiders and wasps 🤣💖🙏
When you get your chickens make sure you keep them locked up in the coop for a few days before you let them out to free range so they know that is home and that is where to go back to sleep at night.
I had always heard to keep fowl contained for a few weeks to learn their safe spot. The shed looks amazing. Good job. Be prepared for Herc to not accept the chickens as being allowed in his area. Xena is great with her birds but other channels dogs of the same breed see any type of bird as a threat to their herd and end them if they go in the pasture regardless of if they see the owners taking care of the birds.
Use up foam spray to seal those openings on the goat shed once it sets up you can trim it to make it look nice and then paint over it so nobody can notice. That will keep the wasps from building nests in those openings that will be one less spots yall have to worry about. Hercules is so adorable with his howling. God bless yall
My husband did not like wasps either. One summer, he went around our cabin with low foam insulation and filled in any open areas so that wasps could not build nest. So I suggest filling in that area with foam insulation it does work.
Way to "get it" done! By the time you get the chicken house and the she shed done you will have enough experience to start building your house. It will all look so awesome, especially if you continue your theme like the goat house, Kyle's man cave and all. I totally understand Kyle's wasp phobia, I also suffer from that affliction. Down here we have a huge yellow jacket problem but I have found a way to convince them to stay away from our house and outbuildings. I heard it from someone else and decided to give it a try...and it worked. I do not know if it will work for red wasps or not but it is worth a try. Get some lunch size paper bags, put crumpled newspaper in them to keep them looking kinda round. tie them closed and hang them up around under the eaves and where they will stay dry. You could even hang them inside the goat house and the man cave. The yellow jackets think they are nests of other wasps and will not build in their territory. I thought it was kinda silly but I was willing to try anything. It worked and the first year so I put up new fake nests every year now. I just wish I could figure out a way to get rid of the Texas sized mosquitoes now. As far as bug spray goes, I have found that Hot Shot Wasp and Hornet spray kills them on contact and I keep cans handy in case I see one around. It also works well as mace, so I have heard, lol. An idea for the goat house where the opening is that you pointed out that the surely will build in, is to get some of those cans of expanding foam and spray in there to seal up the ends. It may take quite a bit for that sized hole unless you put something else like straw or whatever in there and tamp it down, if you do that, make sure you have about 6 inches at each end that you completely seal with foam. Once it has expanded out and dry you can cut it off even with the edge and paint it black to match the rest. I sealed every hole and crack I could find around my place to keep the spiders and other bugs out. You also could use that to seal any openings in the siding of the man cave. Do not do it before you burn though. that stuff might not respond well to flame. God bless all the Adler family. I love watching all y'all. "Let's get it!"
The shed looks so amazing. Congratulations on creating such a beautiful structure. If I may make a suggestion for the interior of the shed, if you screw in 2 hooks, about 6 feet apart, or more, then you can attach a hammock in there to rest on, whenever the feeling hits you. It would be so relaxing for you and, when you are not in the hammock, you simply unhook one end and attach it with the other end, to keep it out of the way. May I also suggest that you create a mo able chicken run. That way, the birds are covered and protected from chicken hawks and other predators. When then have cleared the section inside the chicken run, then you simply move it to another area for them to clear. I have seen these chicken runs in other homesteaders videos. Take a look at Hidden Heights Farm. They have a mobile chicken run. Anyhow, I want to let you both know that you are creating a beautiful home and you are designing gorgeous structures.
They could hang them in trees, around the corners of the shed and anywhere there is a place to hang one. I smack them with my hand and if you do it fast they don’t have time to sting you. Kyle I pray 🙏 God help you not be so scared of them and start smacking them away. Put them on the run with your big hand. God help him that he won’t have the fear of them and help him do the work and the pest be gone. In Jesus name. Amen
THOSE WASPS ARE HUGE!!! BUT TO WATCH YOU LOVE HERC UP, I FEEL LIKE HE'S MY PUPPY & I'M HUGGING HIM!! I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL. ❤️ ❤😊❤ SHANON, YOU MARRIED SUCH A DORK. BUT A FUNNY LOVEABLE DORK!!❤❤❤❤😊😅
I had a home invader Sunday 😢. My dogs and I are ok, cops caught him, I’ve had a tough time mentally. Prayers appreciated. Love you guys, take care and God Bless 😇💜
Herc just wanted to let everyone know that he is the enforcer of his territory. The shed looks amazing! You two should be very proud of what you have done. Once the burning is done, that is just one more of your accomplishments in one short year! God's blessing on all that reside on Shady Acres from Proctor Minnesota! We are expecting 6-10 inches of snow between today and Thursday, which can happen up here all throughout April. 😉 Enjoy your warmer weather.
So…..we’ve got Chad and his fear of SPIDERS, and Kyle with his fear of WASPS!!!! It’s so much fun watching you 6’4” heroes!!! ❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻 No offense intended, Kyle, just having a little fun with y’all!!! 🤣🤣 That siding looks GORGEOUS! GREAT JOB, SHANON!!!
Cassie I think you are going to need to get your best scientist on that because Kyle is kind of in a really big hurry for that job to happen… He’s probably going to have some big ER visits in the very near future, just saying🫣😱🐓🐓🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🫣
Stuff a bunch of crumpled news paper in a grey plastic bag and hang it inside or under eaves of shed. Not sure if it will help for red wasps but keeps yellow jackets away from my porch.
Apparently wasps don't like the smell of peppermint, spearmint, cloves, lemongrass etc, maybe there's a video on TH-cam of how to keep wasps at bay... the shed looks great btw
Funny thing... spiders don't like peppermint or spearmint either and I know they don't cause I bought stuff online and it definitely keeps them away lol
@K&S Get Out low expansion foam in the ends of the goat shed metal roof trim tunnels. Put the smallest open metal mesh you can in the middle of the foam as you spray it
I’m not certain but there may be a sealer that has a bug inhibitor included to ward off the wasps. Just love how you folks worked so harmoniously, and it looks fantastic!
Kyle you have me laughing soo hard and tears are running freely😭 I had a brother scared of wasps but he just went to a different area. You are hilarious 😂 The shed is absolutely beautiful and kudos to Shanon for the hard work and Kyle for his brainy way of building it. Awesome 👍♥️♥️♥️
Everything is peaceful but when you have a Rooster that crows all day long that is all you hear. Country Road Cure has roosters and they said they crow all day long.
We use a foaming spray for wasps. Bengal is a good brand that sprays the foam up to 25 feet, but it is expensive. Last year we tried Terro foaming spray that shoots the foam up to 20 feet and costs half the price of Bengal. The foam really sticks to them and kills them instantly. If you can find the nest, the foam will coat it and kill the entire nest. I hope this will help you.
@@KSDossAcres Another suggestion for the other flying insects is to invite your native birds into your yard. Put up a Purple Martin house, or other bird houses. They love mosquitoes. Place bird feeders and bird baths around certain areas to draw them in and control those bugs. I think they also help with my wasps.
On your next project, try using 2x material on the corners and door/window trim. It will leave the finished product much more "finished" because you won't see the end of the siding boards.
So proud of both of you for what you have accomplished! The shed is absolutely beautiful and so well done! Wow, that picture of you both at the end of the video with the lights on in the shed and you both sitting together is spectacular. It is actually a frame worthy shot! Kyle and Shanon, you are both so inspiring! God bless you 💜❤💜
Red wasps are born/hatched mad. The hotter it gets, the madder they get. We have dirt/mud daubers here in coastal Mississippi. I have always heard they don't sting. But I walked out of our garage on a hot summer day and one stung me on the back of my neck. We also have a smaller wasp we call a Guinea Wasp and they will sting for no reason. I don't like any wasps or bees. My Dad was allergic to bees. He developed an allergy late in life.
Anything with pirythrin, spelling. Anyway it's made with chrysanthemums will melt them. Anything that is an overhang should be painted shy blue, they won't make a nest. Wasps are a nuisance but they are beneficial to killing worse bugs that kill crops. You need one of those net doors for the shed so they don't get in there. They make them for garage or wider areas.
That video of Herc howling was so cute. He wanted his mom and dad. I used spearmint & peppermint oil and sprayed it around my door, windows and in the yard plus I sprayed my outdoor shed and made sure the ends were fully covered so there wasn’t an entrance easy got them to access. I done it ever week. It was not that expensive and spiders, crickets, roaches and mosquitoes hats the smell. The shed looks amazing you guys. You both done a fantastic job on it. You work really well together. As always be safe, live your best life, enjoy the spring weather and God Bless. I have one of the magnetic screen doors and they do work well.
You guys did a great job on the shed! Who knew pallets could be so beautiful? You did! About the wasps. They are evil. Right now is a good time to get wasp traps. The new Queens come out in the Spring and are looking for places to build their nests. It won't get rid of all of them, but might help reduce the amount of hives you'll have this Summer. It's an up hill battle, but the Springtime is the best time to strike! Good luck and GREAT JOB!
The shed looks so good! I can't wait to see the finished look! I actually had a suggestion..you were debating about putting another board under the window. I was thinking if you made planter boxes out of the same wood and burnt finish it would look really cool with some flowers under the window. Just a thought. Great job you guys! You're a great team!
Hi guys, love the shed, what about using expanding foam to seal all the places that you think the wasps may get in to build nests, it would be a quick and easy and relatively cheap fix for the problem, keep up the good work it’s all coming along great. Sending love and hugs from the UK xx❤
Adding planters around your shed with strong smelling plants helps keep away bugs, and if they actually nest in the planters it's so easy to kill loads all at Once 🙂 .... put paper bags on the corners of the shed 😂
The shed is beautiful! Great job! Did you guys Google DIY red wasp traps? It looks fairly simple using a 2 liter plastic bottle. It may be worth a try.
I'd get some spray foam and fill every opening, spray peppermint oil everywhere and plant marigolds and geraniums around every building. Your sheds look great, anxious to see the chicken coop.
Your place is looking amazing. You all have done great work on your shed and goat barn. The wasp 🐝 is a terrifying thing to deal with. I have no clue how to get them out. Your pups are nosy enough that they might get in a nest that is in the ground. We had a plant in front of our home that the bees loved and unknowingly attacked my dog. She had about 10 bee stings all over her. Be sure to keep Benadryl on hand. It might save their life. Roxie had hives all over her. It was frightening. The vet counted at least 10 bee stings. She was a sick girl. But that Benadryl for allergies is a life saver. So enjoy watching your progress. Have a blessed day.
If you put the chicken coop up by the Goat Palace, what about incorporating a feed room/lean-to for the hay, grains ect? Try the brown paper bag trick to keep the wasps away, (I know probably not the decor you want, but if it works?) If it doesn't work all you are out a few paper bags and string. It is easy to do, and I have friend who swear by it.
Well guys that’s a fine looking shed. Good job Shannon and Kyle. It’ll just get more beautiful after the few things left to do. Bet your chicken coop will be awesome, looking forward to watching that. Enjoy the day 👍
U guys are so funny together. U have done such a good job on the shed. Sorry to hear that Shannon got stung, we have them here and they aren’t afraid to go after u if they think ur in their territory. I feel for u cause I’ve been stung it’s not fun. I have one of those screens and I love it,It really works good. Poor Kyle he has such a phobia.
The shed looks amazing! Can't wait to see the chicken coop going up & see some chickens out there on the land. You two have worked your tails off & it really shows. Remember to stop & enjoy the land, not just work.
You both are doing an absolutely amazing job on your Goat Palace, your gear shed also Great job to you both and Herk on supervising you all and his goat brothers 🙏💗👏👍🏻👏
The shed looks awesome! Those red wasps are very aggressive. I was attacked at Lowe's once when my husband dodged it and hit me right beside my eye. I have an outside paddle ball paddle I keep to kill them when they fly at you. And we keep the strips out, don't feel bad you're not the only one that's scared of them! I'm so sorry I did laugh at you running I couldn't help it, I Pray Karma doesn't get me 😂 Bless you! If you are not allergic to bleach if you get stung it helps a lot, also ice on it as well 😢 You can also make a mobile coup that you could relocate, look at Walker Family Farm for an idea maybe?
We get wasp and hornets really bad too. Hot shot and Raid have been my top 2 sprays the rest of the sprays don’t work on ours. We buy traps and hang them up in our trees and they do work. Good luck with them! 😊
I love the shed. I'm thinking about making some chicken cages out of pallets. I use Raid wasp and Hornet spray. It knocks them out immediately and it sprays quite a stream, but probably not long enough for Kyle's comfort because you have to actually see the wasp nest to spray them. Also, I think they like the smell of fear.😅
When the wasps were checking out a place to build their nests, I sprayed surface spray in the areas where I didn’t want them. Hope you get some help with this ❤❤ Also thought you might like to look for a shade tent, to have for sitting outside!
Kyle I do understand your phobia as I have it too. You might not get better as I am 77 and still run like a maniac when a bee buzzes me (or a fly or a butterfly) because you can’t be too careful😂. You can stuff holes with steel wool to keep wasps and mice out of spaces. Love you both❤ and your critters!
Here from Adler’s....❤ LOVE that baby goat... 🐐💟☮️✝️ Can't wait to see your adventure. I live in downtown Seattle... Our lives couldn't be more different. We all need to experience the DIFFERENCE. I'm going to loooove it! ✨🌸✨

This shed is definitely something to be proud of. It looks beautiful. I am sorry though about the wasps and I have no idea on how to combat them. Would the odor of Tiki torches keep them at bay? Y'all are doing are great job with the infrastructure on your property. Standing back and looking at it, you can see the thought and care that has gone into each step. Thanks for sharing. Have a Blessed day.
I’m in New Hampshire and still have a mountain outside of my garage that’s still about 10’ tall. We’re supposed to get rain and 70 degrees next week so looking forward to spring, in a week (After Easter). Congratulations also on the new baby boy goat from Chad via Bruce! Use that spray foam on all those open spaces on the shed. It cuts easily so you can make it look nice.
Herc is so adorable, love it when he dogs.❤❤
I was going to say spray foam the nest
They have spray foam with a deterrent in it.
I had to have bees removed from our house. The bee keeper said they love spray foam to nest in.
Spray Foam is the Best !!😅
Shock therapy will help 😂
That cover you have on the pump house is a major wasp attractant.

Where is a good place to order or buy peppermint or spearmint oil? Do they attract ants? Thank you for any input your give🙂
Fill all holes with steel wool to block access.
The shed looks amazing you’ve worked so hard and it shows you should be so proud it looks awesome. Hercules is a handsome boy too. 💕🙏
You should be so proud of the amazing team work that accomplished the awesome shed 😊👏👏👏
Herc is so adorable . Love and prayers for you both 💕💕💕🙏🙏🙏
The shed looks so good! I can't wait to see the finished look! I actually had a suggestion..you were debating about putting another board under the window. I was thinking if you made planter boxes out of the same wood and burnt finish it would look really cool with some flowers under the window. Just a thought. Great job you guys! You're a great team!
Love the window plant box idea❤️ And ya could plant some peppermint or spearmint in them to help repel wasps😁❤️
Hi guys, love the shed, what about using expanding foam to seal all the places that you think the wasps may get in to build nests, it would be a quick and easy and relatively cheap fix for the problem, keep up the good work it’s all coming along great. Sending love and hugs from the UK xx❤
You are going to have to get a light weight bee protection suite...could be your wash soap softener..on your wash you use is attracting them to you
Or your soap use unscented hair products too
Eyou shower use unscented protects as much as you can deodorant too...
Keep work clothes Separate from when you go somewbere❤😊
Enjoy yourselves ❤great job you 2😊
You 2 have done great work. I love your shed, inside and out!
Y'all have done a wonderful job on the out buildings.. Love'n the videos.
Yes try the paper bags .. I know of them helping
Awe, that howling was so pitiful. That was a "I want, need my people 👦👩❤
More like responding to coyotes….
Hercules is just adorable❤❤❤ so are both of you❤❤
Your place is looking amazing.
So proud of you both! The shed looks great. Sorry about the wasps.🤗
Love the shed ❤ On to the next project 🤭
The shed looks AWESOME. Ya’ll did a great job! Proud of you 2!
Well guys that’s a fine looking shed. Good job Shannon and Kyle. It’ll just get more beautiful after the few things left to do. Bet your chicken coop will be awesome, looking forward to watching that. Enjoy the day 👍
Stuff steel wool in the ends of the goat shelter trim. Efficient and inexpensive.
Love your shed ❤️. Great job. Wasps can sense your fear, you need to do your best to stay calm. Good luck!
Shannon you are amazing. The shed looks great!
Y’all did an outstanding job! ❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸
You have our Florida weather. Congrats 😂
They smell the fear😂
Great job on the shed!
The shed looks amazing! Can't wait to see the chicken coop going up & see some chickens out there on the land. You two have worked your tails off & it really shows. Remember to stop & enjoy the land, not just work.
You both are doing an absolutely amazing job on your Goat Palace, your gear shed also
Great job to you both and Herk on supervising you all and his goat brothers 🙏💗👏👍🏻👏
Fill the end of the eaves with spray foam. Then you can paint it black to match the trim.
Fantastic job 👍 Kyle and Shannon ! It looks great !!
Use spray foam to close the holes.. And you can paint the foam to match the siding. And peppermint plants keep them away. Shed looks awesome. 😍
👍Build or buy a couple of bluebird/ martin nest for gnat control. You could also put planter boxes with peppermint or citronella plants for the wasps.
Poor Herc, he is lonely and calling for mommy and daddy❤️
The shed is amazing, I’m sure you two could build your own house !
When the wasps were checking out a place to build their nests, I sprayed surface spray in the areas where I didn’t want them. Hope you get some help with this ❤❤
Also thought you might like to look for a shade tent, to have for sitting outside!
Shannon and Kyle you two really have outdone yourself! You should be ecstatic on how well it turned out. God bless you both. Love ❤ you both.
Your shed is turning out so beautiful and it's functional as well
😊 Don't forget to build a workbench in one end of the shed and put pegboard up to hang your tools on over the workbench.
Can't wait to see your adventure. I live in downtown Seattle... Our lives couldn't be more different. We all need to experience the DIFFERENCE.
I'm going to loooove it! ✨🌸✨
Oh that shed is gorgeous what an awesome Job
Love the howling 😅 One precious guard dog! Wasp are horrible!! Got stung on my lip, awful!!
I’m proud of you two, good job!
No more Lowes 😅
Stop rubbing in your nice weather! However in the woods you are going to have a Gazillion bugs! Nice pallet shed. My husband did the same thing.
Awesome !!
Everything coming together !!
Just like K & S go together!! Grrrrreat Job !!
Love all your animal babies !! New arrivals?? Saw Chad's video!! Sneak peak of what's to come !! Oh boy !! Boy& Girl !! Oh Girl !!??
Shanon..don't know how you hold it together with Kyle jumping all around !! Had to laugh...a lot !! With you..not at you !!
Take care !! Loved it all !!🇱🇷💕👍💟🌻🌼🐐🐐🐐🐐🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🌼🌼🌻🌻💟💟👍👍💕💕🇱🇷🇱🇷
My friends mom was a bee keeper growing up. I learned this from her.
Kyle get some cans of Max expanding foam and fill in every hole you see even in the trees.❤❤❤❤
You’ll be such Awesome Parents!
