      Awesome! Some get scared or think it takes so much longer to take the bumper cover off when really it doesnt if you just do it and not worry about it. Glad it went well and thanks for the comment. Make sure to subscribe if you havent already.

    If you have the D3S Xenon HID bulbs, this video shows you the only way to change them -- drop the front grill. You CANNOT get to the bulb from the access port in the wheel wells. Before starting, buy some replacement plastic fasteners/rivets and a rivet replacement tool for $10 total. You can reuse the popup snaps. The one thing the video doesn't show is when the front grill comes off, the fog lights will still be attached. Those are simply unplugged without any tool. The only gotcha is there are some hidden tabs that hold the grill in place even after removing the fasteners. The video shows the mechanic prying these up with his fingers. Make sure those are out before trying to lift the grill off or you risk breaking those off. BTW, my dealer wanted $690 to replace with mopar bulbs (retail is about $350 for the pair). I went with the Phillips HID for about $125 for the pair. We will see how they do...

    What a great instructional video. I had tried replacing drivers bulb while in vehicle and thought I may have screwed up the fingers that hold the bulb. I couldn't get it in. I watched the video 3 times, and decided to tackle bumper removal myself. It came out in minutes and bulb is in with no apparent damage to fingers holders. Wish I would have had parts to black out chrome pieces. I will definitely try to remember link when ordering from Amazon. Keep the how to videos on Jeeps and I'm sure it will be engrained in my memory, lol.

    Helpful, thank you. I replaced the HID bulbs on my 2014 Overland but the light quality is poor. Used Oshrams. Even clamping the bulbs in the fingers don't appear helpful in sealing the bulb assembly in place, thus light leakage behind the bulb. Have you run across this?
    Again, thanks for a helpful video, it makes me more likely to just put in a whole new assembly on both sides.

      Pretty much all the vehicles that Chrysler makes these days requires a bumper cover removal when replacing the assembly except for a few......now thats the assembly, not the bulb. The bulb doesnt require that much work. Just wanted to clarify that incase that is what your speaking

    I have a 2014 Limited with standard bulbs (which suck) and I am in the process of upgrading to LED’s. For the driver’s side High Beam, I will most likely need to do this as I cannot access the bulb from the engine compartment.
    If you think about it, it’s absurd that auto makers design the headlamps to be so difficult to replace these days. Headlamps are a very important safety component and can be considered a wear-item...bulbs burn out. These days a car owner just can’t swap a bulb out in 2 minutes like they used to 10-15 years ago....gotta schedule your afternoon around a light bulb replacement...or pay a shop $300 to do it. How’s that for staying safe?

    • @MotorCityMechanic

    great video. Say, I have a question. (Im an old mechanic and trying to catch up after doing smog only for many years).
    I have a customer who had an issue with the left tire letting go and since then, the left headlamp and that led ring dont work but the side marker on the lamp does. To me, after looking the wiring over, I think it needs a new lamp assembly. HAVE YOU SEEN THE COST OF THEM?? If i screw up, i eat the job. Any help here is greatly appreciated I already subscribed and liked!

    Quick question bro I ordered the HID bulb to replace but didn’t work so the process of elimination I took the bulb that supposedly didn’t work (passenger side) so I installed it on the driver side then it worked so I immediately thought electrical. Upon doing some searching for an answer the info I found spoke about the ballast. Now my question to you sir is with me ordering this part would it be something that a non mechanic can change I have a
    Ok amount of mechanical knowledge basic nothing on electrical situation of a vehicle but I feel like this isn’t hard. I know I will have to take the assembly apart my question I would like to know what are all the necessary tools to take off all the parts to take the assembly apart if you don’t mind letting me know. Thank you for your help.

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The ballast isnt something difficult to replace. If you can go as far as removing the headlamp assembly then you can remove it easily enough. I dont know the exact tools needed.......cant remember the last time I had to replace one. Thanks for asking and for watching. Make sure to subscribe

      The bulbs are easier....but the cons of having the aero dynamic front end is that everything has to be tucked behind the front bumper cover. The majority of the newer vehicles are going to or already are like this. Not fun when it comes to replacing it but the actual bumper cover removal isnt that bad....You can have one off in about 15 minutes.

    Hey boss, quick question... (Maybe not a quick answer), 2016 Summit - Is there a trick to "Aligning" the head lamps, since they have the auto leveling feature? I have my driver side lamp operating normally and H/L beams. My passenger side appears to be quite a bit more dim and the high beam shutter doesnt seem to be lifting. I am wondering if this is not an alignment issue? Thoughts?

    Jeep is bull you know what. I bought a new 2015 jgc and the blinker light went out and my spouse and I couldn’t replace it. Our oil changer guys couldn’t either. I had to take it to a Mechanic for a freaking light bulb. REALLY!! A day later after replacing the bulb my passenger headlight bulb went out. I think this is a recall issue, electrical issue or just a crappy product from jeep. We had nothing but chevys and everyone knows the daylight bulbs always went out on chevy trucks but they are super easy to change. I can’t change my own oil on our Jeep with they’re new set up and I can’t change a measly little bulb. I’m regretting buying a Jeep. I love the ride the interior and look of the jgc but our ac went out about 2 years later and they also have a weird ac system. Like I said oil system and the what supposed to be the simplest of all the bulbs are hard to replace. Don’t buy a Jeep the simple things are the total Opposite. Hard & Complicated.

      Had most of the issues you listed with my Australian delivered 2014 JGC, both lights failed, just got a quote today over $1000AUD to replace them. Aircon failure last year was for a TX valve ($80 for the value plus another $1000 to get to it and replace it???) that the Jeep engineers placed behind the dash, WTF! why would you place a part thats a known failure behind the dash and not in an easily accessable location? I love this car and have had it since new but I dont see myself getting another, whilst they look awesome, drive great and are well priced they cost you an arm and leg for service, another $800 AUD today for an oil change....WTF are they putting in it for an oil change?
