    Thanks to you posting this video, I saved myself $90 and did it myself. Despite everything on my vehicle working last night, dealership tried charging me for a bulb replacement for being out. As a small female with blonde hair I tend to deal with men making the assumption I am dumb quite often. I don’t have someone handy nearby anymore as I would normally trade work. Pissed off I bought one myself, watched the video once, and got the job done. Yes, my rather girlie soft hands are tore up but hey... F U dealership... do it my damn self 🤣🤣🤣
    Thank you for taking the time to post and explaining the detail without making a boring long video 😜

      Same here. Dealer wanted $150 to change it and another $50 for the bulb. I bought the bulb in a 2 pack for $30 and did it myself. Yes FU dealership!

      @@Coolrockndad the kicker... the mgr at dealership gave me an attitude for doing it myself. Asked if I wanted someone to ‘double check my work’. It’s a lightbulb bro... I’m pretty sure it would have fallen or went out if it wasn’t in right 🙄
      Plenty of other work I wouldn’t dare attempt but they should be proud when someone takes initiative on smaller things. 😎

    You are a lifesaver, I was about to dismantle the whole top of my JGC just to change the lightbulb. At the dealership here in Mexico, they wanted to charge me $150 just to change a $15 bulb.

    Thanks I made a wood block to hold my bulb, sales person, said oil from your hand might blow bulb.with block did all from the top. Moved the whole electric panel push tab slides out. Your video was a great help.

    There is a tab at the top of the ECM bracket. Push it and it will allow you to pull up and get the ECM out of your way. It gives you a lot more room to work.

    At the 3:17 min of the video you indicate the “Big connector”. I made a dumb mistake and tried to start the car before reconnecting. The car flooded and would not start. Just turn over for a long time. I reconnected and the car started but had the check engine and and the dash was lighting up with issues. The engine was slugging also.
    I chose to disconnect the battery under the seat for 15 min. And that reset fixed the computer issues
    If you do something dumb like me, I hope this helps. Thank you for the video

    After messing with it for a while with scratches all over my hand.... I finally figured it out. That big metal stuff with 2 large connectors comes off. With it removed, you can now easily access everything, the bulb cover and the bulb.
    To remove that big stuff, just push the locking plastic located on top and to the left. Lift the entire thing off and put it on the side - you do not have to disconnect the connectors.
    Let me know if you have questions...

    Thanks 4 ur help. I appreciate all the tips. I had the same issue. My driver side went out first (I had someone else do it for me) now the passenger side went out and did myself. Thanks again.👍

    Thanks, appreciate this! Changed out the passenger lamp for a friend. What a pain in the ass this was to do. I have large hands so it wasn't fun, and I used gloves as well.

    My hand is too big even with sliding the large silver piece out of the way. This makes me rethink ever buying another Jeep due to their laziness, ignorance, & pure lack of consideration for their consumers with this ridiculous design of something as basic as changing a headlight

  • @hancermx
    @hancermx 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It sucks to change the headlights on JGC. Took me about 2 hours to change it both :(

    My hints; spray WD40 on bulb, let penetrate, to ease the "2 finger" CCW twist" (wipe off excess so grip is better) and add a bit of vaseline to new bulbs" O ring gasket to facilitate insertion. . To remove bulb from top (PS side), move ECU out way, stand facing the Jeep, use lt. hand with top of hand facing rear of Jeep, and reach into bulb. 2 and 3rd fingers do most of the work !! Before removing bulb, eyeball its orientation, even draw a diagram, to get new bulb close to reinstall flanges. Replace OEM H11 bulbs with H9 bulbs--Google Search how to mod H11's to fit (v. easy). You gain 2300 lumens vs 1650 lumens from this 65W vs 55W bulb. I changed the fogs to H9's 2 years ago and there is no evidence of connector or wiring overheating.

    Don’t put your fingers on the bulb, because of the oil in your skin. Bulb gets hot and burn out early

    Is there a way to adjust the low beam up and down?

    • @lafftraxx
      @lafftraxx 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you need a long-ish philips head screwdriver to aim the low beam, there is a hole in the housing it's pretty easy just google it!

    • @craigmoore9442
      @craigmoore9442 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if you have a WK2 Jeep GC, there is a hole in the black plastic cover over the headlights that accesses a philips screw about 6 inches down. Screwing CW/CCW moves the whole headlight up/down, low and high beams together. Park on level surface about 15 ft. from wall/garage door and adjust at night. My lows sit about 3.5 feet off ground and highs are right on top.

    • @philj8015
      @philj8015  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It helps to push in on the bulb as you twist it. It takes less than a 90 degree twist to pop it out.
