I'm facing the same thing now with a bbc. Block was decked with the expectation it would be within.005 below deck. When verified it was .018 below deck. Had it machined again and it's now .005-.006 above the deck. Gonna use .051 gaskets should be where I want it just sucks machine shops don't take the time doing things correctly. As the saying goes you had one job to do.
Yes, you'll be fine as long as the piston's don't hit the bottom of the cylinder head. I'm running that exact same thickness gasket and no problems as of yet in my situation......Thanks for watching and commenting...
