  • What happens if you leave a coolant flush in for 2 weeks? That is exactly what we did. We left Thermocure in this Jeep Wrangler for over 2 weeks to see what would happen. Also, I was hoping that the cooling system would be spotless and aid in the rebuild of this Jeep.
    Grab some Thermocure if your cooling system needs a good flush: amzn.to/3Lmlxzk
    And don’t forget the spill free funnel: Spill Free Funnel: amzn.to/3l9Ttl0 (affiliate)

    I guess I need to go to an auto class// or auto hobby shop.. I am totally failing my 2012 Jeep! I want to do all of this myself, but feel at a loss -- I'll keep watching because I'm pretty sure none of this has ever been done on my Jeep. Ugh... I hate being "that" Jeep owner :( Thanks for the video -- now to get my hands dirty.

      If it helps any, your average mechanic shop won't do a flush to this extent. They're going to drain your coolant and add new, then charge you.

      Shops be dining robbery on people who take there car's for a flush. Do it your self I work on all my car's since I was like 16 yrs old. I don't trust micanics. It's easy.

    You can't drain it 100% so you can't add 50/50 and end up with 50/50. Need some amount of full strength. Add and measure with a sg float gauge

      I find that if you blow the heater core out and take out the block drain that the water left inside is negligible amount. That is to say, it wont show up on my float gauge. But I agree, account for what's left in the system.

    What was this under engine/breaker bar and socket drain thing you did?

    • @EmbarkWithMark
      @EmbarkWithMark  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, that is the engine block drain plug.

      @@EmbarkWithMark Where is located? What does it do? What do I need to take it out?

      @@Jarod1941 it is located on the driver's side of the engine. It is located between the cat converters on that side. It takes an S8 socket to remove. I would recommend a 6" extension bar on a breaker bar to get it started. The 3" extension is just too short. The engine block holds about 4L of coolant. You take out this plug to drain that 4L after the rest of the cooling system has been drained.

    Did you use Thermocure or Evapo-rust? This video says Thermocure, but the previous video said Evapo-rust.

    Did you drive it regularly during those 2 weeks or did it just sit?

    • @EmbarkWithMark
      @EmbarkWithMark  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I drove it around until it was hot a few times than let it sit.
      Honestly, you only need to leave it in there for a few days.

    At about 1:30 when you fire it up and circulate it, how do you let it circulate? 5 minutes? An hour? I just bought a new to me Jeep and the cooling system is pretty dirty and rusty. I've flushed it a few times, and there still is rust in there. I just finished up a Prestone cooling system cleaning cycle and left it in for 2 days. I then did 3 flushes with distilled water, and it was still very rusty. I just put in some Thermocure+distilled in it today and I'm going to leave it in there for at least a week, and run it for 20-30 minutes a day.

      Long enough to bring the Jeep up to operating temperature. I ended running it about 20-30 minutes.
      Let me know how it works for you.

      @@EmbarkWithMark I did the coolant flush about 2 weeks ago now. Pretty much followed your instructions to a T. 2 weeks later and the Jeep is running great! It never gets above 205 and I feel comfortable driving it around anywhere now.
      There was sludge in the cooling system when I first got it.
