@@samhugh4965 Lowest speed using a paddle for 5 minutes should get you there, but just keep an eye on it and pull it out when it looks done, you might not need all that time. You don't want to work too much air into it or it comes out too soft and crumbly
Oh the memories of my dear mum. We used to do lots of Christmas treats…. Her favourite was treacle taffy . Thanks so much for the recipe and the fond memories ❤️🇨🇦❤️
A perfect lunch hour video to enjoy. Thank you so very much for sharing this fudge recipe and I think we all look forward to experiencing some Christmas baking (hint hint( . Again, thank you for the video.
It might help to switch out 2/3 of the brown sugar with brown sugar Stevia substitute. The sweetened condensed milk has enough sweetness that you won’t be able to tell the difference. 😅
Cheryl • Thanks for the demonstration of the softball method. Since I never learned it from my mother, I've never tried anything with it. Thanks to you, I think I can do it now. 👍
Cheryl... I've been a subscriber of yours for a few while but I can't remember ever commenting on any of your videos. So... hello! My name is Paul & I'm from East Kilbride, just down the road from yourself! I tend to watch most of your uploads, from your Aldi/Tesco shopping trips to your Meals of the Week & recipes. This is a great video & is perfect for me being a type-1 diabetic. The fudge isn't great for sugar levels but whisky (alcohol) counteracts it and brings sugar levels back to normal again! 😜😜😜😜 Every cloud has a silver lining and all that! Plus... you can't beat being a little bit tispy, eh? I need to give this a try. Thanks for the upload, Cheryl. ❤️xx
I hadn't realised that sweetened condensed milk is 50% sugar. I use it in a fruit cake and kept going on about no added sugar only to discover the truth.😄😲
@WhatsForTea Aww, I can just imagine you at the ice-rink or at the old rollerskating place, haha... I'm glad to have found your channel and I really enjoy your content. 😊xx
Love hearing you talk. I'm related to the Coats family from the thread company that started in Scotland. Before they came to the States. That fudge looks great. Lol
Ohhhhhh helllloooooooo I think that I am going to add this to my "must give it a go" list!!! Perfect for my Christmas festive fare. Apparently I make classic fudge better than my husband's mother (according to my husband) .....but THIS looks next level of fabulousness. Taking a break from creating my own Christmas Content for my children's channel to have a go at Drunken Fudge!!! 😃🎄
Hi Cheryl, yummm 😋, looks delicious!👌👍 Always make a few batches of fudge to box up & gift at Xmas time, & you’re right it certainly puts those old bingo wings through their paces!😖😆💪 Treated myself to a sugar thermometer a couple of years back, but must admit I don’t find it the easiest of things to read … perhaps I should ask Santa for some new specs 👓🤓. Thanks for sharing as always. xx 👩🏻🍳👍👌😋💖
Good morning Cheryl That looks amazing I can't wait to make it The only thing is I don't have a kitchen thermometer. Hope you have a lovely weekend From Diana from the north coast of Australia 💙🏴🤍🇦🇺
Ooo amazing im making fudge this xmas but using the aldi recipe. Il do yours as well including the whisky 😉 😋 Do you think baileys would work as well 🤔
@@traceysallotmentNcookingHi Tracey, yes Bailey’s also works, in fact ‘carnation’ have a website with numerous recipes for using their condensed milk, many different flavours of fudge recipes on there if you’re interested. I always make a few batches of Bailey’s Fudge to box up & gift at Christmas time. Good luck & enjoy. 👍😋
@davidmurphy816 amazing thanks so much il take a look. I always make home made hampers for gifts including jams etc and fancied having a go at fudge this year. My local spa sells the miniature bottles similar to what Cheryl used so il do whisky baileys and rum with raisen. Let's hope it turns out 🤣🤣
@ You’re most welcome Tracey, your gift hampers sound lovely, such thoughtful gifts. Hopefully you’ll find plenty of flavour suggestions on the website, & if you follow the instructions it should turn out well. My advice is to have all ingredients weighed out & prepared before starting & remember to line out your tin. Also a wee helpful tip is to keep your knife in a deep jug of hot water, before cutting up & wipe off the blade after each cut & back in the water before continuing with the next cut, it gives a nice clean finish to the finished fudge. Good luck 🍀 & remember to make a wee batch for the chef of the house to enjoy!😉😊
what's the max amount of whisky this stuff can take before the consistency really changes? i'm going to become a diabetic if i'm getting drunk on this delicious looking fudge of yours.
Oh, my! That looks like the ultimate decadence. I think I might be able to tolerate a fingernail’s worth of that on my diabetic diet. So, a tin full would last me about two months! 😆 Cheers, and ATB
Isn't this similar to what you all call Scottish Tablet? minus the whiskey....my fudge, carmel, peanut butter fudge are all made this same way....a lot of stirring and beating...I make them often...
Good evening everyone!

That looks AMAZING!! I will try that for sure 😊
Cheryl, if you have a stand mixer use that to beat the fudge. It is what I have done in the past when I have made fudge. Works a treat.
Thank you. I was wondering if that would work. I've made chocolate fudge before. Took forever to stir.
Do you mix on low speed for 5 minutes?
@samhugh4965 I've never done it before so I don't know. I did mine by hand.

I tried to make fudge for years with my mother supervising. It wouldn't ever "set" but was lovely ice cream topping 😆
😄 Just make sure it gets up to temperature, the higher the temperature it reaches whilst boiling, the harder it will set 😘
Nothing nicer than a piece or two of good fudge , yummie 😊❤😊❤😊
I love the size of your "small squares". I have used a similar recipe but one adds chocolate at the end!!!!!!
Sounds delicious very festive thankyou Cheryl ❤️😊👍🏻
great idea for a tasty treat, like the sound of rum n raisin 👍
Looks fantastic, I love making it with some Baileys.
Love the swirl you made in the fudge 😄 it looks delicious 😋
It turned out beautifully.

Ooooh, I love fudge and my boyfriend loves his whisky, I used to make it using the soft ball in water method 'till I got a thermometer.
I love it so much I couldn't make it, I'd eat it all lol. Thank you for sharing xxx
This looks so yummy. TY

That looks lovely. Thank you. I wonder how it would come out with bourbon. I prefer whisky but friends prefer bourbon…

Och no...never! 😉😆
Thanks
Does it taste like tablet with whiskey 🤔?? I haven't made tablet in years!! Have a great day!!❤😊
Wow looking so tasty 🤤🤤🤤🤤
Can you use an electric hand mixer?
My Aunt Sally gave me her Scottish tablet recipe but it doesn’t turn out right everytime 😬
Aw no 😣

Some crushed Pistachio or Macadamia nuts mixed in at the end.
Can you put the fudge in candy molds of silicone?
could I use a mixer to beat it at the end?
OMG 😍

Tablet is harder and crumblier 💙 this is soft and chewy 👍
I lost my sweet tooth years ago, but if you waved a piece of tablet at me I don't think I'd have the mental strength to say no.
Shared on Facebook, Cheryl, how’s Jasper today?
OH! so that's what "soft ball" means! it's on my thermometer, but, it's not clear what it should look like, or how to check for it!
How about getting the hubby to take a turn❤
Sorry, no can do. As a kid I used to stuff it back. Now it would me ill...
Is it OK diabetic
Not at all
@@annalexander6042 Sorry Ann but it’s definitely not advisable for diabetics, much too high in sugar. 🚫
