I love the direct shot at Kenny. This song couldn't be more true. There are tons of nashville pop songs from artists that claim to be country but they don't even have a clue what country is. very few of the people in nashville these days actually are from small country towns and even fewer actually sing real country music. Red dirt is the saving grace of country music.
This song is about how pop-country makes small town living into a kind of paradise borderline on a joke. I live in the country and love it, but there's nothing glamorous about beat up old trucks, tractors, and dirt roads. And most people I know will agree it's no paradise, but We wouldn't want to live anywhere else or any other way.
The Abbot family is full of hard working wonderful people. I know Josh's brother through my old church in Houston and met them at his wedding. Just good people and this song couldn't be more true. Glad to see Josh meet such success. Good country is still alive and well.
I used to work for a security company on a side job. The Josh Abbott Band came through about 10 years ago and I got put on stage duty. We talked for a few hours before they had to go set up he's a very genuine and humble person.
sir william check out Cody Johnson. He's the real deal. Dance her home, Gotta be me, Diamond in her pocket, and George Straits You look so good in love are some favorites.
buck tooths I saw Cody Johnson live, he came to Louisville Kentucky. I've been listening to Cody for a long time longer than these guys. I also love wade bowen and Aaron Watson, Cameron Nelson, Sam Riggs, josh ward, Kyle parks, Mike Ryan, reckless Kelly. Y'all in Texas have the best country music
sir william can't forget kevin fowler. Although I don't care for his new material, his older songs are pure traditional country. yall don't have any good country artists?
buck tooths in Kentucky we have Sundy Best but that's really about it. Look them up they have really good music till I met you and home are good songs by them. I do have some of Kevin's older stuff, I do like him.
my sister passed away a few years ago. we used to sing this song while dad played his guitar in the kitchen and momma cooked dinner. i still listen to this just to remember the amazing memories i have with her. miss you sis💜💙
Been a fan for years but finally commenting... From a Wildcat(Canadian TX) to another Wildcat this song hits so hard! I love the video! Yall were always our playoff exit until 2007 when we squeaked by 21-18 in the last few seconds and won state. Being a olayoff rival makes your music feel nore like home
Finally got to see y'all love up at the Inn of the Mountain God's this year and I know I'm commenting on an older video but we will see y'all again 100%
Agree 100%, I live in a small town in the HEART OF AMERICA... we haul hay and farm the land, and life is good here but it's not ALL ABOUT A PART ON A BACK ROAD.
Well, I'm just a country woman in Okahoma, and I have to say " I LOVE THIS VIDEO & THE SONG!" Small towns are made up of HARD WORKING FARMERS WHERE I LIVE. This band has PUT MY thoughts out there and also THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO, LOVE IT !!!
I hadn't thought about this song in years. And it's such a great song. But hearing the new Beyonce song reminds me of the lyrics of this song. Now I can definitely relate to Josh Abbott's words. And thank you to guys like Josh Abbott who really are sticking to their roots.
Craig Campbell wrote a song with the line "if you have to tell me how country you are..you probably ain't." I've been listening to country music my entire 38 years of life and have gone back to the classics also. Even though it is true that music evolves, never in the history of country music until now has any artist felt the need barrage us with constant dirt road small town cliches one after another. Country is honesty and being who you say you are. Its Monday thru Friday life.
Heading out see JAB and Jason Boland tonight in Lewisville, TX. Last night it was Kevin Fowler and American Aquarium. All at Western Days festival in Lewisville, TX. Best of all, these concerts are free! Gotta love Texas!!
I live in ambergris caye belize but my heart belongs to texas. Have never been there in my entire life. But i love the culture the people and the music. Maybe in my other life i was from there lol.
As a Texan I love this video, and also LOVE it even more because I was at JAB Fest Austin where this was filmed and appear three times in this video :)
I have lived in cities like Philadelphia, Atlanta and New Orleans and also have spent many times in others like New York, Nashville, Chicago and Kasas City, but this song really hits home and I really appreciate what Idalou has given to me. I appreciate this town and state more and more every day.
Hey Sir William. Don't give up on Josh Abbott coming to Kentucky. His concert tour is all over the USA. I am from, originally, his neck of the woods down in West Texas but I live in San Diego, CA. He is coming here to House of Blues on August 29 and I will be there. There are so many incredible Texas Country singers out there and I hope more of them will find there way here also. Looking forward to seeing Josh in 3 weeks. He actually went to my Alma Mater..........Texas Tech. GUNS UP!!!!!!!!
Great song, saw it on the country music channel. The reason I like it because I can relate to it. Only thing our town is pop. 700 people, so no dairy queen lol.
Why am i just hearing of this song about where I live and inspired my channel name!? anyway the fact that +Josh Abbott Band is actually from my hometown as well, is so inspiring for me to try and accomplish big things in life!
Excellent viewpoint! Funny thing is Kenny grew up in a small town and I have a friend who knew Kenny way back when. My favorite song of his is "Back Where I Come From" which is a great song about a small town. Guess he got "Nashville-ized" and forgot what country music is all about and is trying to be a Jimmy Buffet clone. Josh Abbott has it right!
because a town isn't smaller than yours doesn't mean it isn't a small town. Why can't we all just relate instead of comparing and trying to be better by proving our town is smaller?
Country girls do think that a hard working man on a tractor is sexy, country is blue jeans and beat up trucks and dairy queen in a small town, so to bash the singers that sing these songs in fine but the songs themselves are exactly what country is. I was raised in grayson Ky. pop 3000. worked on the farm and loved to eat at the dq. wore old blue jeans and drove a beat up truck! thats country, farm or starve! I can relate to the song and the fact that country has gone to hell though!
I saw him in concert and thought he was pretty good. Definitely a huge Charlie fan, but Kenny has a different place in music. Pop-country's a completely different genre and while I hate some of the messages it spreads I will say Kenny's a talented performer.
Y'all realize that this is not Josh Abbott's song and that the only good Dairy Queens are in Texas right? Unless you are in Texas you can't get The Dude, Hungerbuster, Country baskets, T-Brand Tacos, etc.....so whats the point in going to DQ?
I agree I'm from Texas and have lived in Nashville for years and I hate the radio and I got a good laugh about Kenny Chesney !! I saw his show last year and I would have given up those tickets to see some good Texas singers Like Josh Abott or Charlie Robison !! Any day he sucked and then he wants to sing Charlie's music and he sucked at that too !! I do laugh every time I hear this and its often because I buy my cd's and listen to radio up here it sucks !!
Idalou isn't exactly big either though. By most peoples standards Idalou is super small. I'm from sweetwater but moved to the McKinney area when it wasn't that big. Now McKinney is huge and the people I went to school with think that Prosper is small.
but the problem is nashville is making a ton of money off it by making every small town sound the same, like a bad joke about small towns. each one is unique even if there are lots of old trucks tractors and jeans, but there is a whole lot more heritage to it than that.
I hate that the "production" version of this song has so much "production". I loved the one they were playing on the radio in small town Texas stations 2 or 3 years ago. Its simplicity with the message was powerful and sounded fantastic. It was moving. This version fits in with pretty much everything that comes out of the "name brand" labels these days.
You misunderstand. I am agreeing with you 100%. I can't stand the Jason Aldeans of the music scene. What I wrote was about the constant barrage of dirt road small town songs on the radio that have very little basis in reality. I was excited to find this song because I feel exactly the same way. I also love Aaron Watson who has turned down Nashville because he doesn't want to compromise his music or leave his family to tour all year long.
So The Josh Abbott Band didn't write this song. I think George Strait had only one writing credit for anything he had ever recorded in thirty years. Tim McGraw hasn't penned many of his tunes. Johnny Cash didn't write all his own material. There are people who can write, but can't sing and there are those that can't sing, but quite that's the way the music industry works. So get over yourself there are other things that need a voice and this isn't one of them.
So Josh Abbott sings a song he DIDN'T WRITE with the lines "I ain’t saying that their lives ain’t hard, I’d love to hear about it sometime, but let them sing about their own life and I’ll sing about mine." ...kinda hypocritical if you ask me.
Adam hood and Brian keane are both from the same area, they all lived pretty much the same way, besides they gave him their blessing to cover it bc they're friends.
I love the direct shot at Kenny. This song couldn't be more true. There are tons of nashville pop songs from artists that claim to be country but they don't even have a clue what country is. very few of the people in nashville these days actually are from small country towns and even fewer actually sing real country music. Great song. Texas forever.
Nash country is gone.
Man, I would love to see these guys live. Too bad they will never come to KY. Y'all in Texas are fortunate to have the best country music.
sir william check out Cody Johnson.
Y'all in Texas have the best country music

sir william don't worry, his music is alright but he is a douch.
Hell yea Josh, you keep singing bout yours and THAT’S Texas country!
my sister passed away a few years ago. we used to sing this song while dad played his guitar in the kitchen and momma cooked dinner. i still listen to this just to remember the amazing memories i have with her. miss you sis💜💙

I remember having Josh as a teacher in college as a TA and seeing him get his start at bluelight
Yay! im in this video!
at 2:42 its me in the green shirt!!!:)
This is one of my favourite Texas Country song from JAB. Greetings from Hungary!
As someone who is not a fan of 99% of country music, this is good stuff.
I hadn't thought about this song in years. And it's such a great song. But hearing the new Beyonce song reminds me of the lyrics of this song. Now I can definitely relate to Josh Abbott's words. And thank you to guys like Josh Abbott who really are sticking to their roots.
I love everything about this song forever good to hear real country music 🤠🎸♥️💯
I agree. no fantasies.
STORYTELLERS FOREVER.!!
like it.
How can you give a thumbs down? He's got his parents in the video!
TheGangbuster12 so?

Probably one of the best music videos that JAB put out so far
Heading out see JAB and Jason Boland tonight in Lewisville, TX. Last night it was Kevin Fowler and American Aquarium. All at Western Days festival in Lewisville, TX. Best of all, these concerts are free! Gotta love Texas!!

Ive been through Idalou before, I have family in Lubbock and we would always pass through there!
Rock On Brother!!!
Guys chill out!! Every artist has songs they don't write they sing.. It's just the way it is nowadays! So chill out!! :)
That is a song love it all the way from Scotland
Coming to Denver!!! I’ll be there
Why am i just hearing of this song about where I live and inspired my channel name!? anyway the fact that +Josh Abbott Band is actually from my hometown as well, is so inspiring for me to try and accomplish big things in life!
He just sang truth about most modern country songs.
Hell yes
Love

honestly best country song ive heared in a while
because a town isn't smaller than yours doesn't mean it isn't a small town. Why can't we all just relate instead of comparing and trying to be better by proving our town is smaller?

Love this band I am from a small farm town in new mexico but I disagree tractors are sexy
Krum is small!
fuckin badass
I saw him in concert and thought he was pretty good. Definitely a huge Charlie fan, but Kenny has a different place in music. Pop-country's a completely different genre and while I hate some of the messages it spreads I will say Kenny's a talented performer.
2021
Kenny Chesney wrote and released a song titled, "She Think's My Tractors Sexy"
Y'all realize that this is not Josh Abbott's song and that the only good Dairy Queens are in Texas right? Unless you are in Texas you can't get The Dude, Hungerbuster, Country baskets, T-Brand Tacos, etc.....so whats the point in going to DQ?
Scott Randall it may not be his originally but he does a great cover of it.
very few people no matter if singers or not can say they are from small town country towns.
Dustin Cummings that’s kinda why there called small towns
Idalou isnt that small of a town, try Throckmorton, Texas.
How bout them Idalou Wildcats!!!!
Population just a few thousand, ha! My high school was just a few thousand people...I hate the city.
Adam Hood and Brain Keane co-wrote this song and both their versions are very good. I especially like Hood's version.
Waco, Texas isn't a small town haha, try Idalou, Texas :)
It's not the size of the nail. It's the hammer you're trowing with at.
ya lubbock is such a small town
Chance Boatright He's from Idalou. Which is a small town.
If it works... Play it...
But what would they sing about?!?!?!
Idalou isn't exactly big either though. By most peoples standards Idalou is super small. I'm from sweetwater but moved to the McKinney area when it wasn't that big. Now McKinney is huge and the people I went to school with think that Prosper is small.
Who's song is this original?
thats where josh abbot is from bro...
It's sad when one of the most country artists in nashville is from Australia...
since when is waco population 2000 lol now whitney thats were this songs about,
is that beau at the beginning?
God bless Johny Hendricks that beautiful sombitch
but the problem is nashville is making a ton of money off it by making every small town sound the same, like a bad joke about small towns. each one is unique even if there are lots of old trucks tractors and jeans, but there is a whole lot more heritage to it than that.
Tractors are sexy
I give Kenny Chesney credit, not a lot people sing about tractors. Everyone else is singing about bullshit.
what does he mean by tractors aint sexy? i hate to instigate
I unfortunately did not grow up in a small town, but I'm headed there. I don't like the city/suburb...
You misunderstand. I am agreeing with you 100%. I can't stand the Jason Aldeans of the music scene. I also love Aaron Watson who has turned down Nashville because he doesn't want to compromise his music or leave his family to tour all year long.
I like the song but not the video. It should emphasize on the singer and and especially the background instruments. That is what makes this song good.
Brian Keane sings it better. Nothing against Josh Abbott I just think Brian sings better.
good cover....but i like brian keane version better
ya
its an Adam Hood song actually
Brian Keane and Adam Hood both co-wrote the song. So....it's Brian's song as well. Just sayin.
So Josh Abbott sings a song he DIDN'T WRITE with the lines "I ain’t saying that their lives ain’t hard, I’d love to hear about it sometime, but let them sing about their own life and I’ll sing about mine."
...kinda hypocritical if you ask me.
Who's to say he didn't live this life?
its Co-written by Brian Keane and Adam Hood meaning he still had his influence in the song
Adam hood and Brian keane are both from the same area, they all lived pretty much the same way, besides they gave him their blessing to cover it bc they're friends.
So nobody asked you
