Thank you, this was very educational and makes a lot of sense. Someone should mention how efficient Dual Wield is on Ace. Dual Wield allows Ace's Wild Card ability to hit twice, dealing magic damage, adding killer effects, and the handy physical evasion. Although this isn't very useful in arena (Wild Card can be dodged with physical evasion mechanics), this ability is a Godsend for trial bosses and physically resistant bosses like Wilhelm. Humans and demons weak to magic get decimated by Wild Card since Diabolos boosts magic primarily and Wild Card borrows his killer effects. Users of this strategy should note that Wild Card will only pick up one of the weapon elements (i.e., survival edges and rod of lightning will only proc elec or wind element, not both.) This makes Ace troublesome to use in the Gilgamesh trial because he can't cover more than one element check. Additionally I noticed that Wild Card does not proc the Dragon Killer effect from Draco Spike, but his Firaga, Attack Card, and Thundaga will. Thanks again for the great videos. Keep at it.
i am late to tell you this so you may figured out but dracoslayer from draco spike boost only magic damage from a MAGIC ability damage to dragons not physical ability, and wild card function like a physical attack (so it works with dual wield) but it just does magic damage. it is not a magic ability even though it does magic damage so no boost from dracoslayer :/ but if it could get boost from dracoslayer then it wouldn't work with dual wield anymore so is ok trade i guess for weapon element damage, it is physical based so in magic damage it will not carry 2 times for dualwield only once, i guess it is coded weird since maybe they made dualwield long before they ever have any idea they make characters like ace for issues to happen. agree with all else, though i have no ace but i have friend ace who is very good for damage against physical resistant enemies.
I just finished Equip H Shield and tossed it on my healer along with flame shield and can now do ELT Ifrit. 1 is good if your healer cant use a shield I think. Love your guides, keep it up!
I saw Ziss, ushi gaming and dont remember the other guy, where they talk about tmr, they were good, but what i like about you was the analisis about the weapons be the least to farm (the number facts) and you are very right, actually i am farming 4 zidanes and 1 gilgamesh atm (already have 1 dc and 1 dw). Since I started TMR farming, ive been pulling TMR characters like crazy. I got another Leon this weekend for a total of 3. Also pulled Vanille, and another Amarant and Ingus. I followed your advice and I'm going for Atk based TMR plus duel wield. I am going to finish Gungnir since its at 50%. My current TMR group is Kain, 2x Zidane, Leon, and Shine. I have two more Leon's and two more Shine's to add once some of those are finished. Thank you for the advice on weapons vs material. I have a ton of characters with weapons I really want like Excalibur, Save the Queen, Moonblade, Genji glove, and Rising sun. I was about to go in that direction. Its good to know the % bonus will do more for me than the weapons.
Yeah, seriously! Never felt so... generous! I have about 3 of the Follower's Oath already... could probably have more, but I only have those because I just had too dang many of the character filling up my slots. I still have 15+ in there, but I don't want to get too Hasty... But Moogles alone I'm at 65% for the Hydaelyn Guard with 10(!) more of the character just sitting there and I'm at 91% on Shard of Genius (again, just moogles). It's kind of nonsense, but I love it!
im working on my 9th Thancred TM, 3rd Minfinlia, and 2nd Yshtola... Its a pretty nice boost xD already got both Minfilia and Yshtola maxed out and partially potted too... I really like Minfillia even tho I have a Cerius already, she just makes my team stronger and I dont need to DC Cura's so all good there.
if you are against a boss who is immune to a certain element and you happen to have it on your weapon, that weapon becomes useless ofc. but chaining attacks with element weapons results in far more dmg than chaining with neutral weapons. so as long as the boss is not resistant to that element, i would always preffer excal > save the queen (just as example).
Yeah, I have said that on the video :). The downside for elemental weapon is you can't use them on certain battle, apart from that they're probably more superior.
While the Magistral Crest doesn't give you much over the earrings in terms of magic, i think it is a great TMR for healers as there is not really any other accessory that gives you so much SPR. Plus the magic is nice for them since that also affects healing slightly. But I think it would even shine more on people like Y'shtola, who can also use offensive magic and so benefit from both the magic and spirit of the Magistral Crest.

If you have 10 trust moogle, I suggest to get genji gloves now, dual wield really increase your party's strength significantly. But if you already have dual wield (only train gilgamesh for additional dual wielder), then save your Trust moogle :). You're welcome :).
Nice guide! Totally agree with you but one thing. I don't thing black cowl is worth grind, because you gain very low attack and the defense adition isn't so good either. ribbon should be priority over black cowl, cause status immunity is amazing for tank and healers (even for nukers) and the game give to us considerable good defensive items.
I think that the elemental weapons can be good if you equip in some units. For example, Excalibur with Orlandeau, Deathbringer with Dark Veritas or Artisan with Aileen. In this case, the chainers are priority in the game, well.. I think.
Yes, like I have said, they are good, but you need to realize that you can't use those weapon on certain battle. If you fine with that then go ahead :).
This guide made me change my mind and I wanted to farm Agrias' TM instead of Excalibur but since I only have 2 of her but 9 Cecils... When you want some Zidane but all you get are Cecils :(
This made me rethink what TM to farm and I like how you categorized the TMs haha. anyways, I already have dual wield and I got Gilgamesh from the guaranteed 5* pull so I was wondering if it would be a great idea to got his TM or move on to other TM? My other choices are, Ring of Lucii, Black cowel, either quick assult or leon's TM and idk what else haha. Anyways, it would be a big help if you can give me your opinion about this. AND I'm using moggles to get TMs as macro farming not available for me :/
I was thinking about getting excalibur with my current moogles (Also I have cecil with 36%) But Save the queen....looks cool after this video (Only have her with 5% but well). Orlandeau is coming.I know I wont get him no matter how many summons I have stored but if I could get him I really need a good GreatSword,so I´ll get save the queen I guess Btw nice video,I wont get dualcast since the new healer of Ifrit event will be better than my refia.
A dualcast Refia is way better then Y,shtola really, but if you insist on using Y'shtola, theres no harm getting dualcast as Cecil can use it too. Nothing beats a tank that can double curaja when he dont need to provoke or your healer need to raise or buff.

Later, WoL will probably take Cecil's place because his 100% provoke. But yes Dual cast Refia is better than Y'shtola, but not that a great margin. So, IMO It's better to save those trust moogle for now and wait a little bit :).
Excalibur was never in my bucket list couple of months back, and even more so with the next event light weapon at 75 attack power. Just gonna let the TM % tick slowly as i use my cecil. (i do have 4 extra copy of cecil if i really what that instant 20%) You can just do the normal earth shrine for the dualcast and use your moogles on stuff you think is important. For me? its dual wield! I have 2 dual wield TM now and is 35% away from my 3rd! I only use my moogles for DW haha... But if your dualcast is like 10-20% away from 100% , those moogles totally worth it as Dualcast does have an instant impact for your teams be it PVP or PVE.
Yup, I agree with you :). I also stop try to get dual cast because I got Y'shtola. BTW, excalibur is kind of a must for Orlandeau because his divine ruination lower light resistance by 50%, so if you equip excalibur and using it on the 2nd turn the damage will be crazy, but you need to switch weapon too when fight light resist enemies :). You can also get Durandal from the upcoming event for light element great sword :).
Would you say the Ring of Lucii is a niche TM? I just can't really find a good place for it. I have other TMr like dual cast, dual wield x 2 double hand etc. but I just can't find a good place for it. AND IT WAS MY FIRST TM lol. I love the content, always great. I'd love to see an updated priority list
Ring of Lucii sure is a niche TM since it doesn't give you good stats but instead it gives you abilities: -it gives you 25% dodge phy attacks which is a lot for one slot (most other stuff gives you 10%). -Holy is nice to have for some mana regen, but it´s not good and reliable enough, since it's a 25% phy. counter. -Alterna is a strong dualcast-able magic but it costs 99mp -> too expensive -and Death is kinda useless Conclusion: Only use it if you wanna do an evasion build on someone like chizuru (enhanced) or ling otherwise raw stats are just better than the ring. on the jp version the ring is way better since it also gives you 30% ATK/MAG (and alterna "only" costs 80mp) but in gl it's only good for its evasion imo. Louis Tétrault nope. Dark Knight Cecil would still benefit from dual wield in the future. Currently, his abilities kill himself, therefore its wise to use doublehand. however in the distant future, dark knight cecil will get enhancements and one of them is to give him auto hp recovery (+9999 hp) at the end of his every turn. this sorts of make up for his self harm ability and allow him to stay fresh every opponent's turn. The drawback however is that if ur hurt bad at the start of yr next turn, u cant execute his moves unless u use tmrs like barrage. thus overall dkc is still pretty useless. his tmr is good tho ^^
Currently at 89.8% on my First Zidane... I have five more, but I dare not merge them! I'm thinking I might get a Trust Moogle from the Arena at the end of the month, and I can just farm out that last 0.2% Anyhow, I wanted your advice on whether I should build a single Unit to be amazing (and probably encourage better friends to accept my requests!) or if I should try and build up a "team"... or even if I should just focus on one of each class? For example, I just pulled Noctis in February, so he's definitely getting my dual wield. But should I immediately start into a second Dual Wield for one of my lesser chars, like Chizuru or Firion? Or should I keep focusing on Noctis and farm for Black Cowl and/or some other ability? Finally, one other thought... when you're comparing Weapons vs Attack+ abilities, when you did the comparison you kind of ignored the fact that we can already get Attack+ abilities. So if you're going to compare Sakurafubuki - Muramasa to Blade Mastery, it should really be Blade Mastery - Attack +15% or at least Attack +10% (craftable), right? Or am I missing something there? For me, I will work on other party members :). Black cowl is nice for noctis, but it won't give significant damage increase compared to other attacker having dual wield :). The reason I didn't compare blade mastery is because the difference is so big 40%, so it's one of the top thing you need to get. I use the comparison to show you that ability is more important than weapon (give you the biggest improvement), not for the sake of comparing the ability itself :).
You're right, if you also take the loss of +15% ATK in consideration, then Blade Mastery loses some of its usefulness. You should max your Noctis first, guide4gamersdotcom is wrong here. Why? Because of how ATK is calculated in this game. A unit with 400 ATK won't do twice as much damage as a character with 200 ATK, the unit will do 4 times more damage. So one character with 800 ATK is waaay better than 2 characters with 400 ATK. But first you do need 2 Dual Wields because it's so good. The TM order is usually Dual Wield, Dual Cast, 2nd Dual Wield, Blade Mastery, High ATK sword (Excalibur etc.), 2-3 Quick Assault/Power of Creation, then Black Cowl.

Question for your thoughts: Double-hand Excalibur Orlandeau, or Dual wield Excalibur/Genji+Blade Master Orlandeau? Double-hand isn't as hot in global, so I'm looking at other options for the Thunder God.
dual wield will win of course. Orlandeau violate 3 criteria in the video XD. His skill is powerful, but it's for chaining (not a finisher). Also no innate doublehand like ability XD.
I am in the same boat as you, I have Lightning as my main dmg dealer (i have the deau now) so I never really needed DW. Now I do need it and my zidane is only 66% right now. I don't macro tm farm like everyone else so it is hard for me.
Great video once again! Now if only the game would increase odds of getting a 5 star to drop. I think I'm going to quit playing the game since my only 5 star I got was later turned into a common 3 star drop. There's too much reputation to this game, and it provides no real rewards in the form of drops, so it lacks the ability to keep me entertained. For instance... if you are a casino and you want ppl to spend more money, you need to give them a sense of accomplishment. If a person plays slots, you would want them to win a little so that they don't just walk away as an angry loser. You want to provide hope that there will be a big win again coming just around the corner. This is a concept Gumi seems to not understand. Without having a top tier character, the top level event stages are impossible, and just not enjoyable. I think I will be focusing on Gumballs and Dungeons from this point on. Its a much funner, much more challenging game that actually involves strategy. Plus it's a real F2P game where whaling is an option to do better, and not a requirement. Sorry for the rant and triggering. lol
i am a f2p player and without any 5star base for months, my only 5 star is the Emperor which i really dont want to trouble myself too much as he does not fit into my current arena team. With no 5 star based team running the game, i cleared Gilgamesh pretty easy, i have been in top 2-3k rank in arena which allows me to get rewards same as those top 10 ranked players. What unit you may be curious? Listing out the more important units, i have, in max lvl 100, 2 chizuru, 2 cod, 2 Exdeath, 1 refia, 1 ceceil, 1Firion, 1 xiao, 1 bartz, 1 seven, 1 nine and 1 cerius. Beside the free units like rain and ling. no 5 star based units? no problem.
+gorn norg so how are you top 3k in arena while f2p? I never miss an attempt, I might lose once every other week, and I can't get past top 10k while always battling the highest ranking option I'm given. (I don't sleep much.)
+gorn norg I've played since week one. my 5 star was lightning. I one round all opponents in arena. I have good players, I get good chains, and I've got decent gear. my advantage is amount of time I can play. I've played FF since the original us release and it's nostalgia and amount of time I've already put into ffbe is only reason I still play. the hard stuff is overkill for people like myself who don't pay, and don't use NOX like programs. the game is either too easy, or overly impossible to beat. I can't find a balance. I've used strata, I've gotten a few tm's (the hard way) and im incapable of getting any major accomplishments since I often get one hit and gone on top tier boss fights. refia, lightning, exdeaths, Cecil, firion is my main go to team currently for non arena battles.
Arena is not just about winning, it is about waiting for the right score, for the first few days of the arena it is ok to just fight anyone thats higher points then you. Once players start to use lapis to arena, thats when you need to start pvp smart and pick opponents who has lots of points. (let the list refresh for higher rank players is one of the key here) The risk is high but the return is high too. (Full notty team that shower me with 2-4 Blizzard Flask is no joke... Or one of those weird team that can do tons of 1TKO chain dmg and left you jaw dropped without any warning...) And the mentality towards the game is very important haha... I like to look at guides that emphasis on no 5 star base blah blah blah to see if i can find anything fun and interesting to fuse to my current team. I know what non-5star based TMs are really important to my team, and what equips are needed to stand a chance to fight the top 1k teams. ( my first tm was gungnir....Kain was my main dmg... thats how bad my account was last time) I used Rain as my tank in Ifrit raid as Cecil's Boshido hits my team around 1k each in total without a weapon -.- Rain does like 350-500 max! (before i try Rain for ifrit tanking i was using him as a dual wielding break unit on ifrit) In short, play smart, spend more time on FFBE info sites, youtube , think out of the box and HAVE FUN.
With all the events going on I've been to focused on them to do any trust mastery farming, but I got a zidane I wanna get dual wield from and I have been using dark fina and agrias for my party for a while so their trust is slowly build up.
I have rising sun at 50% for CoD when I pulled Gilgamesh (my one and only 5* base char for now :(). I am switching focus to genji glove now because of how difficult it is to do the Gilgamesh trial with single wielders (only have 1 DW) and have to seal elements. Ludmille continues to elude me so I am going to try Y'shtola. How about armor? Minerva bustier for CoD. CoD has poor weapon selection so after thorned mace, the next best weapon that I have is Skull Crusher which is only ATK+35.
Celes can be fairly common sometimes, so if you can get that it would be a good piece of armor for any female character. There is a term "BiS" which means the best gear possible for that character, but there are other TMs that are still very nice. If you don't have any better TMRs like G4G.com mentioned you can easily go for what would work the best with your current loadout.
Yeah, armor is nice too :). Minerva bustier is very nice, it's one of the defensive equipment category :). I don't write all the armor because I was afraid the video will become too long XD.
Garland is going to be good with Doublehand too. And, of course, Bracer is terrific for Olive and Garland. What about Discernment/Goddess's Protection compared to Ribbon? I think for a whale Ribbon is better, because the best abilities are usually stronger than the best accessories, but for f2p? A hero ring is stronger than a +10% atk...
Now f2p players can craft ruler's ring too :). So, it's all about what you have, I write ribbon because I have 6 Kefka XD, he is also 3 stars rarity, Seven is 4 stars, so I believe most players have Kefka instead of Seven :). The case is different for all players, for players who have Atk + bigger than 15% may want equip ribbon instead of discernment/goddess protection.
IDK if you're still paying attention to comments from this video, but I have a question. I have a Fryevia, who is my main attacker/chainer, and I have a Bartz. Is it better to get Fryevia's TMR or Bartz's? I greatly value versatility and adaptability if it makes a difference. I'm also F2P if it also makes a difference.
Currently farm ribbon (22%), next TM Blade Master or Leon's TM? You also could say the way to farm faster, for example have 5 Zidane and farm they until 16%, next fuse you will get 100% fast instead Farming unique unit
I think blade mastery is better, less requirement mean easier right :). Yes, you can do that thing to zidane just make sure you only need 1 dual wield though, if you need 2 then simply merge 4 zidane at 20% :). And use TM on the last one :).
I'm currently working on Blade Mastery, Excalibur, Genji Glove, Dual Wield, and Aurora Scarf (just because my lightning is at around 91% so at this point I might as well commit). Once I get aurora scarf I'm trading lightning out for Leon to get Dark Knight's Soul for Orlandeau. For the life of my I can't get Ludmille when I use my Lapis so no Dual Cast for me. I have Y'shtola though. ~,~
Can we get an update to this video now that Rikku and Tilith are out? I feel Dualcast is less necessary since all the great meta breaking healers and support have their main moves as abilities
This guide is still works even for now. If you don't need dual cast anymore, then simply skip it to the 3rd priority. Rikku is super exception on this game, I will talk more about LB abilities later, when have finished with all characters review, probably next week because from what I know we also get FF XII char on this week.
also do you know if the Dualcast bug still exist? basically if you make use of dualcast then select normal attack and attack he will do double the attacks to say more simply, if only 1 attack then he will do 2 if Twin Lance, Yun or Sacrf or Dual Wield the he will do 4 and if both of the above, then 8 hits
The only TMR I have is dual wield.So I guess my next focus is to get dualcast for my refia since I have two ludmilles.Also my main damage dealers are Cupid Artemios and Cloud of Darkness depending whether the enemy is Human or not,so getting the rising sun might not be a bad idea.I also have Shine which most people recommend to max out her TM because it's really good.So if im not doing any events I would grind earth shrine with 2 ludmilles,2Lockes and Shine.Is it good?
It's good, but if you plan to use Y'shtola as your main healer then I suggest you stop trying to get dual cast at this moment. What other TMR you have? Shine TMR is very good and I agree with you by bringing her to Earth shrine. I suggest you to train for blade mastery or dark knight soul if you have them.
I am close to yshtola at about 800k in ifrit points,so I guess ludmille can step down.unfortunately I dont have chizuru (pulled 1-2 times a day from ifrit rewards and daily pulls still never got her)and I dont have leonhart.To me Cecil and Agrias would be bad because I dont have a damage dealer that can equip heavy swords and any other weapons TMR other than bows,maces and throwing for Cupid Artemios and CoD.So I guess accessory TMR should replace the two Ludmilles for now.I think getting growth egg might be the best choice when I finally get a damage dealer that can equip Genji blade and my other 70+ swords so I can get them up to action fast

im pushing at the moment for yshtola (8% missing) because its so close and then for second dualwield. Then ill guess ill go for excalibur (32%) OR another quick assault (5%) OR for that dark knight soul OR katana mastery. What do u think, which is better, katana mastery or dks

champions belt really THAT good? I assumed it was just something almost exclusively for Snow or Yun, seeing as the percentage boost only happens with fist users
The best feature of letter and arms is you able to equip multiple letter and arms. One of them may not that great but if you have 2 then they're good. About sword, yes, there will be a powerful sword later from TMR (100 atk and 84 magic), but we probably still need a long time before we get that character (Sylvia).

Yes. earth shrine. I have no idea how long I never do a macro.. I only when do the TMR training when I go to the gym. press manually between sets XD. I never reach 100% by train on earth shrine, earth shrine raise a little and then trust moogle do the works. That's why after 8 months of playing I am still only have few trust masters Blade mastery, dual wield, dark knight soul.
I just started TM's and I chose to go the macro route. It takes a long time and depends on how much energy you have and whether you are willing to spend lapis on refills. Before I rank up and my nrg is refilled, I go do Earth Shrine runs. If I have nrg left before bed, I run the macro.
Zidane. with dual wield you can utilize 2 from 3 masteries (blade mastery, dark knight soul, and large sword mastery). With Bowie Knife you can only utilize one from those masteries
I didn't say they won't unusable on all occasion :). I say they will unusable on certain occasion :). As long as you can deal with that, then go get them :).
All my friends who got Orlandu already like to equip him with Excalibur and no confuse resist (serriously... if you have a strong Orlandu, put on some god damn confuse resist so I can bench my Minfilia for another bonus unit in ELT!), it makes the first boss tanky but just deprotecting and using Imperil, I can usually 1 shot him with a Dual Weild 600 atk Orlandu. Sometimes it takes 2 turns tho.
I am running 4 bonus characters (they don't attack, only debuff and buff) and a Firion (level 100 + 468 atk + dual wield + esper diablos) on Elite Auracite event. If you have some "smelling salts", be sure to have them as usable items to stop your friend's Orlandeau from killing you. Happened so many times and i lost so much auracite.
Is it better to have 2 of the same TMRs or just 1 will be enough? Because right now I am keeping duplicate heroes to farm TMRs at the same time so when the time comes, I'd like to know if I should fuse them all together into 1 to get the TMR or save 1 for the 2nd TMR.
depends on what you want, for example: if you have 6 zidanes, and you only need to have 2 dual wields, then simply fuse those zidane into 2 zidanes. Those will make you get the TM faster (also use the Trust moogle). However, if you only need one dual wield then simply fuse them all into one :).
The weird gamer to add on, i would like to quote that aurora scarf is extremely good for Yun. Yun has a innate double normal attack. if u give him dual weild, aurora scarf and equip spear, u can equip the double hit spear. that would mean u have a total of 16 nornal attacks in one turn. thats god like, im not so sure about this theory, but i have a good feeling about this 😍
At 4:21. Don't forget, "equipment" is the correct way to use this word. It is a dual-cast word that is both singular and plural. There is no such word as "equipments" so remove the "s" from your vocabulary and your video text. Good luck with English.

Someone should mention how efficient Dual Wield is on Ace. Dual Wield allows Ace's Wild Card ability to hit twice, dealing magic damage, adding killer effects, and the handy physical evasion. Although this isn't very useful in arena (Wild Card can be dodged with physical evasion mechanics), this ability is a Godsend for trial bosses and physically resistant bosses like Wilhelm. Humans and demons weak to magic get decimated by Wild Card since Diabolos boosts magic primarily and Wild Card borrows his killer effects.
Users of this strategy should note that Wild Card will only pick up one of the weapon elements (i.e., survival edges and rod of lightning will only proc elec or wind element, not both.) This makes Ace troublesome to use in the Gilgamesh trial because he can't cover more than one element check. Additionally I noticed that Wild Card does not proc the Dragon Killer effect from Draco Spike, but his Firaga, Attack Card, and Thundaga will.

i am late to tell you this so you may figured out but dracoslayer from draco spike boost only magic damage from a MAGIC ability damage to dragons not physical ability, and wild card function like a physical attack (so it works with dual wield) but it just does magic damage. it is not a magic ability even though it does magic damage so no boost from dracoslayer :/ but if it could get boost from dracoslayer then it wouldn't work with dual wield anymore so is ok trade i guess
for weapon element damage, it is physical based so in magic damage it will not carry 2 times for dualwield only once, i guess it is coded weird since maybe they made dualwield long before they ever have any idea they make characters like ace for issues to happen.
agree with all else, though i have no ace but i have friend ace who is very good for damage against physical resistant enemies.
I just finished Equip H Shield and tossed it on my healer along with flame shield and can now do ELT Ifrit. 1 is good if your healer cant use a shield I think. Love your guides, keep it up!

Since I started TMR farming, ive been pulling TMR characters like crazy. I got another Leon this weekend for a total of 3. Also pulled Vanille, and another Amarant and Ingus.
I followed your advice and I'm going for Atk based TMR plus duel wield. I am going to finish Gungnir since its at 50%. My current TMR group is Kain, 2x Zidane, Leon, and Shine. I have two more Leon's and two more Shine's to add once some of those are finished.
Thank you for the advice on weapons vs material. I have a ton of characters with weapons I really want like Excalibur, Save the Queen, Moonblade, Genji glove, and Rising sun. I was about to go in that direction. Its good to know the % bonus will do more for me than the weapons.

Yeah, seriously! Never felt so... generous! I have about 3 of the Follower's Oath already... could probably have more, but I only have those because I just had too dang many of the character filling up my slots. I still have 15+ in there, but I don't want to get too Hasty...
But Moogles alone I'm at 65% for the Hydaelyn Guard with 10(!) more of the character just sitting there and I'm at 91% on Shard of Genius (again, just moogles).

im working on my 9th Thancred TM, 3rd Minfinlia, and 2nd Yshtola... Its a pretty nice boost xD already got both Minfilia and Yshtola maxed out and partially potted too... I really like Minfillia even tho I have a Cerius already, she just makes my team stronger and I dont need to DC Cura's so all good there.

if you are against a boss who is immune to a certain element and you happen to have it on your weapon, that weapon becomes useless ofc. but chaining attacks with element weapons results in far more dmg than chaining with neutral weapons. so as long as the boss is not resistant to that element, i would always preffer excal > save the queen (just as example).
Yeah, I have said that on the video :). The downside for elemental weapon is you can't use them on certain battle, apart from that they're probably more superior.

While the Magistral Crest doesn't give you much over the earrings in terms of magic, i think it is a great TMR for healers as there is not really any other accessory that gives you so much SPR. Plus the magic is nice for them since that also affects healing slightly. But I think it would even shine more on people like Y'shtola, who can also use offensive magic and so benefit from both the magic and spirit of the Magistral Crest.
Healing is based off of SPR not magic, however if your healer does have an offensive spell they can chain with then its good.

If you have 10 trust moogle, I suggest to get genji gloves now, dual wield really increase your party's strength significantly. But if you already have dual wield (only train gilgamesh for additional dual wielder), then save your Trust moogle :). You're welcome :).
Nice guide! Totally agree with you but one thing. I don't thing black cowl is worth grind, because you gain very low attack and the defense adition isn't so good either.
ribbon should be priority over black cowl, cause status immunity is amazing for tank and healers (even for nukers) and the game give to us considerable good defensive items.
I think that the elemental weapons can be good if you equip in some units. For example, Excalibur with Orlandeau, Deathbringer with Dark Veritas or Artisan with Aileen. In this case, the chainers are priority in the game, well.. I think.
Yes, like I have said, they are good, but you need to realize that you can't use those weapon on certain battle. If you fine with that then go ahead :).

This made me rethink what TM to farm and I like how you categorized the TMs haha. anyways, I already have dual wield and I got Gilgamesh from the guaranteed 5* pull so I was wondering if it would be a great idea to got his TM or move on to other TM? My other choices are, Ring of Lucii, Black cowel, either quick assult or leon's TM and idk what else haha. Anyways, it would be a big help if you can give me your opinion about this. AND I'm using moggles to get TMs as macro farming not available for me :/
It's all up to you, if you need another dual wield for another physical attacker then go genji gloves first.

A dualcast Refia is way better then Y,shtola really, but if you insist on using Y'shtola, theres no harm getting dualcast as Cecil can use it too.

Later, WoL will probably take Cecil's place because his 100% provoke. But yes Dual cast Refia is better than Y'shtola, but not that a great margin. So, IMO It's better to save those trust moogle for now and wait a little bit :).
Excalibur was never in my bucket list couple of months back, and even more so with the next event light weapon at 75 attack power. Just gonna let the TM % tick slowly as i use my cecil. (i do have 4 extra copy of cecil if i really what that instant 20%)
You can just do the normal earth shrine for the dualcast and use your moogles on stuff you think is important. For me? its dual wield!
I have 2 dual wield TM now and is 35% away from my 3rd! I only use my moogles for DW haha... But if your dualcast is like 10-20% away from 100% , those moogles totally worth it as Dualcast does have an instant impact for your teams be it PVP or PVE.
Yup, I agree with you :). I also stop try to get dual cast because I got Y'shtola. BTW, excalibur is kind of a must for Orlandeau because his divine ruination lower light resistance by 50%, so if you equip excalibur and using it on the 2nd turn the damage will be crazy, but you need to switch weapon too when fight light resist enemies :). You can also get Durandal from the upcoming event for light element great sword :).
IMO, DH is also beneficial for CoD since not so many powerful Mace are available :3

Would you say the Ring of Lucii is a niche TM? I just can't really find a good place for it. I have other TMr like dual cast, dual wield x 2 double hand etc. but I just can't find a good place for it. AND IT WAS MY FIRST TM lol. I love the content, always great. Ring of Lucii sure is a niche TM since it doesn't give you good stats but instead it gives you abilities:
-it gives you 25% dodge phy attacks which is a lot for one slot (most other stuff gives you 10%).
-Holy is nice to have for some mana regen, but it´s not good and reliable enough, since it's a 25% phy. counter.
-Alterna is a strong dualcast-able magic but it costs 99mp -> too expensive
-and Death is kinda useless
Conclusion: Only use it if you wanna do an evasion build on someone like chizuru (enhanced) or ling
otherwise raw stats are just better than the ring.
on the jp version the ring is way better since it also gives you 30% ATK/MAG (and alterna "only" costs 80mp)
but in gl it's only good for its evasion imo.

Louis Tétrault nope. Dark Knight Cecil would still benefit from dual wield in the future. Currently, his abilities kill himself, therefore its wise to use doublehand. however in the distant future, dark knight cecil will get enhancements and one of them is to give him auto hp recovery (+9999 hp) at the end of his every turn. this sorts of make up for his self harm ability and allow him to stay fresh every opponent's turn. The drawback however is that if ur hurt bad at the start of yr next turn, u cant execute his moves unless u use tmrs like barrage. thus overall dkc is still pretty useless. his tmr is good tho ^^

Currently at 89.8% on my First Zidane... I have five more, but I dare not merge them! I'm thinking I might get a Trust Moogle from the Arena at the end of the month, and I can just farm out that last 0.2%
Anyhow, I wanted your advice on whether I should build a single Unit to be amazing (and probably encourage better friends to accept my requests!) or if I should try and build up a "team"... or even if I should just focus on one of each class?
For example, I just pulled Noctis in February, so he's definitely getting my dual wield. But should I immediately start into a second Dual Wield for one of my lesser chars, like Chizuru or Firion? Or should I keep focusing on Noctis and farm for Black Cowl and/or some other ability?
Finally, one other thought... when you're comparing Weapons vs Attack+ abilities, when you did the comparison you kind of ignored the fact that we can already get Attack+ abilities. So if you're going to compare Sakurafubuki - Muramasa to Blade Mastery, it should really be Blade Mastery - Attack +15% or at least Attack +10% (craftable), right? Or am I missing something there?

For me, I will work on other party members :). Black cowl is nice for noctis, but it won't give significant damage increase compared to other attacker having dual wield :).
The reason I didn't compare blade mastery is because the difference is so big 40%, so it's one of the top thing you need to get. I use the comparison to show you that ability is more important than weapon (give you the biggest improvement), not for the sake of comparing the ability itself :).
You're right, if you also take the loss of +15% ATK in consideration, then Blade Mastery loses some of its usefulness. You should max your Noctis first, guide4gamersdotcom is wrong here. Why? Because of how ATK is calculated in this game. A unit with 400 ATK won't do twice as much damage as a character with 200 ATK, the unit will do 4 times more damage. So one character with 800 ATK is waaay better than 2 characters with 400 ATK. But first you do need 2 Dual Wields because it's so good. The TM order is usually Dual Wield, Dual Cast, 2nd Dual Wield, Blade Mastery, High ATK sword (Excalibur etc.), 2-3 Quick Assault/Power of Creation, then Black Cowl.

"Team" vs "Individual" was more the question, Black Cowl was just the first thing that popped into mind. If I was focusing on Noctis, I'd probably get Quick Assault first. (With the hope of getting Genji Blade soon, and not need a TMR weapon immediately)

Question for your thoughts: Double-hand Excalibur Orlandeau, or Dual wield Excalibur/Genji+Blade Master Orlandeau? Double-hand isn't as hot in global, so I'm looking at other options for the Thunder God.
dual wield will win of course. Orlandeau violate 3 criteria in the video XD. His skill is powerful, but it's for chaining (not a finisher). Also no innate doublehand like ability XD.
I am in the same boat as you, I have Lightning as my main dmg dealer (i have the deau now) so I never really needed DW. Now I do need it and my zidane is only 66% right now. I don't macro tm farm like everyone else so it is hard for me.

Now if only the game would increase odds of getting a 5 star to drop. I think I'm going to quit playing the game since my only 5 star I got was later turned into a common 3 star drop.
There's too much reputation to this game, and it provides no real rewards in the form of drops, so it lacks the ability to keep me entertained.
For instance... if you are a casino and you want ppl to spend more money, you need to give them a sense of accomplishment. If a person plays slots, you would want them to win a little so that they don't just walk away as an angry loser. You want to provide hope that there will be a big win again coming just around the corner. This is a concept Gumi seems to not understand.
Without having a top tier character, the top level event stages are impossible, and just not enjoyable.
I think I will be focusing on Gumballs and Dungeons from this point on. Its a much funner, much more challenging game that actually involves strategy. Plus it's a real F2P game where whaling is an option to do better, and not a requirement.

i am a f2p player and without any 5star base for months, my only 5 star is the Emperor which i really dont want to trouble myself too much as he does not fit into my current arena team.
With no 5 star based team running the game, i cleared Gilgamesh pretty easy, i have been in top 2-3k rank in arena which allows me to get rewards same as those top 10 ranked players.
What unit you may be curious? Listing out the more important units, i have, in max lvl 100, 2 chizuru, 2 cod, 2 Exdeath, 1 refia, 1 ceceil, 1Firion, 1 xiao, 1 bartz, 1 seven, 1 nine and 1 cerius. Beside the free units like rain and ling.

+gorn norg so how are you top 3k in arena while f2p? I never miss an attempt, I might lose once every other week, and I can't get past top 10k while always battling the highest ranking option I'm given. (I don't sleep much.)

I one round all opponents in arena. I have good players, I get good chains, and I've got decent gear. my advantage is amount of time I can play.
I've played FF since the original us release and it's nostalgia and amount of time I've already put into ffbe is only reason I still play. the hard stuff is overkill for people like myself who don't pay, and don't use NOX like programs.
the game is either too easy, or overly impossible to beat. I can't find a balance.
I've used strata, I've gotten a few tm's (the hard way) and im incapable of getting any major accomplishments since I often get one hit and gone on top tier boss fights. refia, lightning, exdeaths, Cecil, firion is my main go to team currently for non arena battles.
Arena is not just about winning, it is about waiting for the right score, for the first few days of the arena it is ok to just fight anyone thats higher points then you. Once players start to use lapis to arena, thats when you need to start pvp smart and pick opponents who has lots of points.
(let the list refresh for higher rank players is one of the key here)
The risk is high but the return is high too. (Full notty team that shower me with 2-4 Blizzard Flask is no joke... Or one of those weird team that can do tons of 1TKO chain dmg and left you jaw dropped without any warning...)
And the mentality towards the game is very important haha...
I like to look at guides that emphasis on no 5 star base blah blah blah to see if i can find anything fun and interesting to fuse to my current team.
I know what non-5star based TMs are really important to my team, and what equips are needed to stand a chance to fight the top 1k teams. ( my first tm was gungnir....Kain was my main dmg... thats how bad my account was last time)
I used Rain as my tank in Ifrit raid as Cecil's Boshido hits my team around 1k each in total without a weapon -.- Rain does like 350-500 max! (before i try Rain for ifrit tanking i was using him as a dual wielding break unit on ifrit)
In short, play smart, spend more time on FFBE info sites, youtube , think out of the box and HAVE FUN.
With all the events going on I've been to focused on them to do any trust mastery farming, but I got a zidane I wanna get dual wield from and I have been using dark fina and agrias for my party for a while so their trust is slowly build up.
I have rising sun at 50% for CoD when I pulled Gilgamesh (my one and only 5* base char for now :(). I am switching focus to genji glove now because of how difficult it is to do the Gilgamesh trial with single wielders (only have 1 DW) and have to seal elements. Ludmille continues to elude me so I am going to try Y'shtola.
How about armor? Minerva bustier for CoD. CoD has poor weapon selection so after thorned mace, the next best weapon that I have is Skull Crusher which is only ATK+35.
Celes can be fairly common sometimes, so if you can get that it would be a good piece of armor for any female character. There is a term "BiS" which means the best gear possible for that character, but there are other TMs that are still very nice. If you don't have any better TMRs like G4G.com mentioned you can easily go for what would work the best with your current loadout.
Yeah, armor is nice too :). Minerva bustier is very nice, it's one of the defensive equipment category :). I don't write all the armor because I was afraid the video will become too long XD.
Garland is going to be good with Doublehand too. And, of course, Bracer is terrific for Olive and Garland.
What about Discernment/Goddess's Protection compared to Ribbon? I think for a whale Ribbon is better, because the best abilities are usually stronger than the best accessories, but for f2p? A hero ring is stronger than a +10% atk...
Now f2p players can craft ruler's ring too :). So, it's all about what you have, I write ribbon because I have 6 Kefka XD, he is also 3 stars rarity, Seven is 4 stars, so I believe most players have Kefka instead of Seven :). The case is different for all players, for players who have Atk + bigger than 15% may want equip ribbon instead of discernment/goddess protection.
Davide Mantovani can't wait to get Ifrit's Claw next trial. +30 ATK accessory great for players without multiple Bracers.
IDK if you're still paying attention to comments from this video, but I have a question. I have a Fryevia, who is my main attacker/chainer, and I have a Bartz. Is it better to get Fryevia's TMR or Bartz's? I greatly value versatility and adaptability if it makes a difference. I'm also F2P if it also makes a difference.

Currently farm ribbon (22%), next TM Blade Master or Leon's TM? You also could say the way to farm faster, for example have 5 Zidane and farm they until 16%, next fuse you will get 100% fast instead Farming unique unit
I think blade mastery is better, less requirement mean easier right :). Yes, you can do that thing to zidane just make sure you only need 1 dual wield though, if you need 2 then simply merge 4 zidane at 20% :). And use TM on the last one :).
I'm currently working on Blade Mastery, Excalibur, Genji Glove, Dual Wield, and Aurora Scarf (just because my lightning is at around 91% so at this point I might as well commit). Once I get aurora scarf I'm trading lightning out for Leon to get Dark Knight's Soul for Orlandeau.
For the life of my I can't get Ludmille when I use my Lapis so no Dual Cast for me. I have Y'shtola though. ~,~

This guide is still works even for now. If you don't need dual cast anymore, then simply skip it to the 3rd priority. Rikku is super exception on this game, I will talk more about LB abilities later, when have finished with all characters review, probably next week because from what I know we also get FF XII char on this week.

if Twin Lance, Yun or Sacrf or Dual Wield the he will do 4

The only TMR I have is dual wield.So I guess my next focus is to get dualcast for my refia since I have two ludmilles.Also my main damage dealers are Cupid Artemios and Cloud of Darkness depending whether the enemy is Human or not,so getting the rising sun might not be a bad idea.I also have Shine which most people recommend to max out her TM because it's really good.So if im not doing any events I would grind earth shrine with 2 ludmilles,2Lockes and Shine.Is it good?
It's good, but if you plan to use Y'shtola as your main healer then I suggest you stop trying to get dual cast at this moment. What other TMR you have? Shine TMR is very good and I agree with you by bringing her to Earth shrine. I suggest you to train for blade mastery or dark knight soul if you have them.
I am close to yshtola at about 800k in ifrit points,so I guess ludmille can step down.unfortunately I dont have chizuru (pulled 1-2 times a day from ifrit rewards and daily pulls still never got her)and I dont have leonhart.To me Cecil and Agrias would be bad because I dont have a damage dealer that can equip heavy swords and any other weapons TMR other than bows,maces and throwing for Cupid Artemios and CoD.So I guess accessory TMR should replace the two Ludmilles for now.I think getting growth egg might be the best choice when I finally get a damage dealer that can equip Genji blade and my other 70+ swords so I can get them up to action fast

if you use Cloud , Fire Veritas, then buster style is the most important. Doublehand still not good because it doesn't work with 2 handed weapon.

i like to save the moogles till i get 100% saved up and then dump them into one thing. while im farming 5 units in earth shrine.
10% left to get Dual wield. Next one i want is equip staff %) .. just because i want Snow to be able to equip staff but if i won't get Y'stola eventually i may have to contribute moogles into dual cast ...

Like I said only for fist users but the effect is nicer than bracer for fist users. There will be few strong fist users in the future.
Firion can equip fists too, with a nice 30% boost! Better than what he gets from blades.

The best feature of letter and arms is you able to equip multiple letter and arms. One of them may not that great but if you have 2 then they're good. About sword, yes, there will be a powerful sword later from TMR (100 atk and 84 magic), but we probably still need a long time before we get that character (Sylvia).

Yes. earth shrine. I have no idea how long I never do a macro.. I only when do the TMR training when I go to the gym. press manually between sets XD. I never reach 100% by train on earth shrine, earth shrine raise a little and then trust moogle do the works. That's why after 8 months of playing I am still only have few trust masters

I just started TM's and I chose to go the macro route. It takes a long time and depends on how much energy you have and whether you are willing to spend lapis on refills. Before I rank up and my nrg is refilled, I go do Earth Shrine runs. If I have nrg left before bed, I run the macro.

Zidane. with dual wield you can utilize 2 from 3 masteries (blade mastery, dark knight soul, and large sword mastery). With Bowie Knife you can only utilize one from those masteries

I didn't say they won't unusable on all occasion :). I say they will unusable on certain occasion :). As long as you can deal with that, then go get them :).
All my friends who got Orlandu already like to equip him with Excalibur and no confuse resist (serriously... if you have a strong Orlandu, put on some god damn confuse resist so I can bench my Minfilia for another bonus unit in ELT!), it makes the first boss tanky but just deprotecting and using Imperil, I can usually 1 shot him with a Dual Weild 600 atk Orlandu. Sometimes it takes 2 turns tho.
I am running 4 bonus characters (they don't attack, only debuff and buff) and a Firion (level 100 + 468 atk + dual wield + esper diablos) on Elite Auracite event. If you have some "smelling salts", be sure to have them as usable items to stop your friend's Orlandeau from killing you. Happened so many times and i lost so much auracite.
Is it better to have 2 of the same TMRs or just 1 will be enough? Because right now I am keeping duplicate heroes to farm TMRs at the same time so when the time comes, I'd like to know if I should fuse them all together into 1 to get the TMR or save 1 for the 2nd TMR.
depends on what you want, for example: if you have 6 zidanes, and you only need to have 2 dual wields, then simply fuse those zidane into 2 zidanes. Those will make you get the TM faster (also use the Trust moogle). However, if you only need one dual wield then simply fuse them all into one :).
What's wrong with lightning's TM its stacks with dual wield
Lightning TM only affect normal atk. If you're using normal atk instead of barrage, etc, then go for Ligthning TM.
The weird gamer to add on, i would like to quote that aurora scarf is extremely good for Yun. Yun has a innate double normal attack. if u give him dual weild, aurora scarf and equip spear, u can equip the double hit spear. that would mean u have a total of 16 nornal attacks in one turn. thats god like, im not so sure about this theory, but i have a good feeling about this 😍
Sorry if i sound offensive, but your view is too short sighted. Getting a TMR for the benefit of 1 unit is not really worth it.
