My new favourite channel! CyclingTips podcast was something I was looking forward, especially during TDF times. Happy to have found your channel. Funny, clear and refreshing angle to bike racing.
@@VeloVeloVeloTV finished at place 57. Rode in the front group (~25 guys) till km 90 when my legs blew up. Had to take it easy for a bit and lost some places.
Great Clip! My internal jury is still out on the verdict about the course, race organisation and logistics. Plus... massive involvement of big peloton names in the race...
This was Belgiums interpretation of Gravel Worlds and what a gravel race is. I thought it was great to watch. For those who criticize the lack of technical gravel there was plenty of other technical obstacles that made this race hectic. I call it Cyclo Classic
@@VeloVeloVeloTV Indeed, they only showed the last laps as it would have been too difficult to send motorbikes along to film from the beginning. The actual laps were easier because of that. The beginning was very technical due to twisty and narrow roads.
It’s cool to see the pros from the road in this but the implication is that this is a second tier race for road pro riders and gravel amateurs . To be a distinct discipline the courses need to be tougher & an attraction to those who seek unique characteristics of off road riding

You're a great interviewer Mr Shoddy! Interesting questions, then listening to the answers and interacting with the riders. More please!
Agree! Shoddy, the best.
Thanks, that is super kind. It's nice to have good subjects to talk to - Dave

Thank you, Sir.
The rollers did help 😅 even though I was at around place 200 at the starting line, made the front of the race at some point 😊
Bloody awesome. Thanks for getting involved in the video, too. How did you get on? It looked faaaaasssst! - dave

Bloody hell, you're right! Someone needed the added drag! - dave
Where is the G R A V E L ?
Ted King with some prototype Rene Herse semi slick tires by the looks of it
That La Marzocco needs a new gasket!

Ted King is usually a handsome and funny guy, but he seemed really disappointed.
Still handsome - Dave

100% agree, it had the spirit of gravel turned to 11! I heard that it was a lot harder than the TV showed. - dave

& would be really cool to see MVDP riding a course like that against Keegan & those guys
Was it gravel….I suppose somewhere in the race there was a bit….just a bit. Just call it what is was…off road not gravel.
This was not a gravel race. Unbound is the world championship.
There is a pod coming on this subject, it'll be over on the Velo site. - Cheers Dave

Make it unsupported, then Maybe it can be taken seriously… otherwise it’s an over rated event.
You mean event for retired Pro cyclist?
Who cares it’s just a sideshow anyway
